Borderlands 4

I bought the game thinking I'd refund it most likely but I do really like the gameplay. I know shocking, but I never played the other Boderlands games, so it's 100% new to me.

That's the good. The bad of course is the relatively poor performance. Even with a shunt modded 5090 at 3.3Ghz, I still couldn't get 60 fps in 4k native which of course isn't surprising when looking at benchmark reviews.

Playable with DLSS Quality + FG of course, but obviously not everyone should be expected to have my hardware. I can see why the game is getting bashed pretty bad.

I feel like the patch that came out yesterday made it worse not better. I can barely play today....its a stuttering mess and it was not like that for me before.

Yes, feels like this has everything in terms of freedom compared to previous iterations. I also like the grapple even though usage is a bit limited right now.

same here the flying thing makes getting up and round stuff very easy.

I do wish they would just add a goddamned mini map already. Put it up in the upper right corner of the screen.

The gameplay additions are definitely welcome. I wasn't sure about them at first, but now I'm enjoying things. The only thing that keeps throwing me off is the crouch function. Sometimes it just doesn't work right. It's set to a toggle, but sometimes I'll press the key and it crouches for a millisecond and then it stands back up. Ditto with sliding. I swapped to different keys and it seems to keep doing that. It's like it requires you to hold the key for a certain amount of time no matter what. Setting it to hold full-on requires you hold it down for the entire slide, which is just as bad.

I didn't notice any difference in performance, I'm still struggling to maintain over 100 at times even with DLSS and FG.

I don't have any performance difference post patch. Still cruising at about 130 fps give or take.

Finding the Sniper Rifle is my best friend instead of running and gunning using my special I die less unless I'm looking around for quest markers.
I didn't think it would be a fetch quest game but here we are again it's a fetch quest game. I'm level 9 just got to the Witch Doctor Zandar her house had a bunch of turrets just shooting at me so I used a sniper rifle and couple grenades. The game has it's moments then the game feels like any other borderlands game at times. I did use one Shift Key already got a few good purple shields but the guns were idiotic. Sometime the quest rewards are good but I just did one quest got a Machine gun that needs to charge up I'm like what a waste of an effort.

People on Steam are so Mad at this game lol they are not even Mad about being slightly Woke with flat butt characters. Just Mad at Randy and that they can't run the game properly.

flat as in, no personality or no tits?

All you see are the legs no butts but then again only saw a few npcs. Might be a design choice.

Mad Moxxi worshipping just showed up. I started doing the Main Mission but got downed really easily so I backtracked doing side quests I passed up. Alot of the Shift Code guns are gimmicks you don't want to use them even.

The Maps if you ask me are way too big I just started using my droid top click of the direction button to find quest objectives. There is no way to physically remember these big maps.
I'm riding my bike around and I'm like this map is way too big. Basically gotta rely on mini map and overview map constantly. If Gearbox wanted you to loose yourself you will do just that get lost alot.

5090 desktop running 4k 240 fps capped with dlss quality, Fg 4x , everything maxed out now. 4070 laptop running 120 fps+ at 1920x1200 high, dlss quality fg 2x, honestly both look very good. Very high on laptop gets choppy real quick coz of 8 GB VRAM.

I would strongly recommend 'fishing' - you can get a fish shaped grenade from it, that deals melee damage. i

There's tons of gear that adds melee damage, with even with just an amp shield, it's very very strong.

Make sure you increase shader cache size to the max you can support. 100Gb on desktop got rid of any stuttering I saw.

Beat the first vault boss today. Pretty spicey fight.

Dont be me and do all side quests first cause you spend firever without the vehicle. Complete the mains until younhave it.

Still say the jakobs ricochet weapons are broken. Been using only those assualt rifles and just criting left and right and killing everything around. That and the item tonup jakob damage etc.

Playing as vex and im plowing thru everythjng at lvl 21. Like 4 different things being applied to every enemy and they melt.

Couple weeks ago I was set on buying this game. But since then Randy Pitchford has made it easy to say hell no. This guy is a super douche piece of trash. No way I'd buy this game for 1 dollar.

On principle people need to stand up against supporting such garbage.

Even if it ran great on my pretty good system, or they patched the performance issues, I don't care. Pitchford doesn't deserve one penny.

This game is actually not bad. I am liking it.
I do agree that there is delay with guns. I can’t put my finger on it but it’s there. More than what is considered good. I need to check latency as I am using FG. I was calling it loose shooting earlier but delay is probably the right word.

Ok problem is game latency it seems. FG has about 40-42 ms latency which is right above where things become uncomfortable (over 30 ms). No FG has about 25-30 ms latency (still super high for no FG) but then frame rate is like 70 fps with DLSS Q and it makes the game feel laggy still. Not sure what else to do but to live with it. The 130 fps definitely feels much better than 65-70 fps and you just need to attune yourself to the latency that comes with it. Didn't try higher FG because it is already as bad as it is.

Still having fun though so there is that redemption.

There is a side mission i think you can just sit and farm XP forever if you wanted. Infinite guys run at you and just kill them so thry dont run into the bubble.

Hoenstly just huffin and puffin over nothing mostly.

Have you not read and listened to all the insane stuff Pitchford has said in the last week? Why would I want to support a company with that toxic fuck at the helm?

F that douche.
I agree with the sentiment that Randy is polarizing. He certainly causes more harm than good. That aside.

I don't believe that needing to use DLSS if you're having frame issues is an absurd recommendation. PC gaming in the 90's on a CRT monitor usually required this if your hardware was behind the curve. Sure, your CRT had a max resolution of 1024 x 768 but if your hardware didn't allow you to play at that resolution then you'd drop to 800 x 600 or even 640 x 480, if needed. This usually provided a noticeable increase in frames and with CRT technology the image didn't look horrible when not running at maximum resolution. I feel that DLSS accomplishes this in the modern era. With the new DLSS Transformer model the reduction in resolution is even less noticeable then with the previous CNN model.

Frame generation is also polarizing but I typically don't notice an increase in input latency as long as I'm getting 70+ base frames. The tradeoff is providing a smoother gameplay experience with negligible input latency. Given the nature of Frame Gen, this perception will vary from game to game and person to person.

Nvidia & AMD didn't invest all this time and money into creating DLSS & FSR, Frame Gen & Fluid Motion for the tech to go unused.

The DLSS/FSR thing is wild. People refuse to even try it. You'd think the man was telling them they need to format their hard drive and install some kind of obscure Linus distro. Instead it's just a toggle. Just try it. It's not like the posters are claiming that DLSS/FSR is poorly implemented or that their performance is somehow still lacking. They won't even try it and would rather complain or try 200 other potential configurations than to hit that little "on" switch. You bought a card where that was one of if not the single biggest selling point.
