Borderlands 4

Looks like Preorders will open today about time....

Unless they're reducing the price or including some substantial content (not skins) there's 0 reason to ever preorder a digital product. It's not like it can sell out.
I have seen some discount sites like CDKeys and GMG sell out of keys on the first day if it's a popular game.

8 Brands of guns sold it's probably a better game to play than watch. It's like showing a video on your cell phone to someone else they don't care. The gliding looks like Tribes. I hope legendaries are really rare like they say but not weird looking.

They still don't know what made Borderland 1 special but oh well.

Borderlands evolved. I think they would have to try very hard to screw that up. That was a smart premiere. I will be quite eager to see more in June.

Randy Pitchford Denies Rumor that Borderlands 4 Launching Early Has to Do with the Grand Theft Auto VI Release Date

Maybe true but there ain' no way anyone with a brain wants to try and launch near GTAVI. "Late 2015" for release so far. May 15 we might get a more specific date.

I think much of what made BL1 so special was that it was basically the first. But 4 is certainly looking good, it's lost the silliness of 3.

I noticed they even made a specific remark or two about that. That's good news.

Unless they're trying to avoid the entire month GTA6 is launching, I'd be shocked if that game comes out in September. I bet they sit on that game until the last possible minute considering the scope of it.

The style of graphics that Borderlands uses makes the differences between the 1st game and 4th look relatively minor. At least compared to other franchises from the same era. That's both good and bad. The older games have aged well, but it makes the 4th game only look incrementally better than the 3rd.

I believe I read when it came out that they released Tiny Tina during the pandemic intentionally making it a smaller game due to the situation and uncertainty of working from the office and were surprised it sold so well and was so loved. They didn't intend for it to be one of their flagship games. I still enjoyed it except for the end game content.
Did Tiny Tina's Wonderlands actually sell well? I thought it was OK and scratched my BL itch, but I never got the feeling it sold well.

GTA6 can charge $80+ but that doesn't mean every big AAA publisher can charge that much

I'd rather it actually be worth the $80, or a house land on Randy. It's really 50/50 at this point.

I bet overhead costs are through the Roof when the Credits roll in game they will be thanking about 20 new babies and Randy Pitchforks Goldfish. Even Gerber Baby food is not immune to inflation.

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford took some heat yesterday when he dismissed concerns about Borderlands 4 potentially launching with an $80 price tag, saying on X that "if you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen"...today, in an effort to calm the roiling waters left in the wake of that ill-advised statement, he shared a brief video clip he described as "the truth" about Borderlands 4 pricing, and the "reality" of the rising costs of videogame development

The clip was actually recorded a couple weeks ago at PAX East, but Pitchford reshared it earlier today because it's definitely relevant to the controversy of the moment, and provides a slightly more nuanced take on the matter of game pricing...

Simply put, if people buy it, then it's worth it.

If they charge 30% more and 70% of people buy it who would have bought it at 70% that price, then they make the same amount of money, while normalising the new price point!

It sucks, but also its a game. You don't have to buy it. If enough people say 'fuck that' then it won't work.

But that's obviously the plan the industry has agreed upon now. Apple showed the rest of the phone producers that the market will pay almost anything for their products, Nvidia followed suit and the game industry took note.
You WILL eat the bugs.

Borderlands is probably my favorite series ever and I have pre-ordered all of them after the first, idk if I'll pull the trigger at $80 or not. Big ask. Maybe if i came integrated with a season pass but that wouldn't make sense for them to do.

I’ve always had fun with BL, but wouldn’t have been ok with paying $80 for any of them, even the first, which is still probably my favorite.

At least this one will be available on Steam at launch.

Who has said that it's okay for GTA 6 to bmore than $80 aside from shills?

if GTA6 is a huge success then it means that people are willing to spend that much...the sales will determine if $80 has been accepted by gamers

Who has said that it's okay for GTA 6 to bmore than $80 aside from shills?

I think he is saying GTA6 would probably still sell a lot despite a high price tag, but most games will be negatively affected. I can see GTA pulling it off, think most other games will suffer in sales numbers.
