what tweaks do you have for the 6950s?
i have around 365-375 for my unlocked ones on guiminer at 850 and 880
I have unlocked shaders, core 900, mem 500, stock voltage, and I am using Phoenix/poclbm(with the tweaks posted a page or two back)
VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=10 WORKSIZE=128 DEVICE=0 FASTLOOP=false
Gets me 397mhash between 62-70C.
What BTCGuild said is that they squashed a botnet. Then in retaliation they DDosed them. I would assume that the hash rate of that botnet was quite large for it to be discovered. So this could mean a difficulty decrease if it was large enough to effect it.
Guys, should i put extra flags for my HD4870?And what should i put there?
I'm peaking at 95 with some spike up to 97MH/s,putting these flags gave no increased performance.just make sure NOT to use BFI_INT nor VECTORS since those actually decrease hash rate.
Cool, The same thing was happening over at deepbit They had a botnet doing ~4Ghash there. What BTCGuild said is that they squashed a botnet. Then in retaliation they DDosed them. -v is the flag for Vector, isn't it?
How do you enable powertune. Mine is greyed out.
Would anyone running phoenix in guiminer with any kernel test something for me?
- Close all open programs.
- Start mining with whatever regular flags you have but use AGGRESSION=7, note the hash rate.
- Open firefox or any other browser you use and log into your g-mail or hotmail account, or go to the main newegg.com page or open youtube and play any video. Note the hash rate.
Did it decrease? If so by how much?
If it decreased, close the browser and note the hashrate again. Did it go back up?
I'm trying to confirm flash is the culprit here.
Thanks
Do you have hardware acceleration disabled in Flash?
You don't even know how many people on the Bitcoin forum think that's how you overclock, just changing the powertune setting!Setting it to +20% should guarantee that your card won't throttle due to power draw.

Are you sure it's flash and not Firefox. After firefox 4, it uses the gpu to load webpages. This can be verify if you have crossfire. Usually one gpu would be idle/off but loading firefox, both gpu would be in usage.

See my problem is I can't get the control center to allow me anything above the default OC of like 840 core on my 6950. Any way around this? If I uncheck the AMD Overdrive does that disable powertune?
I've noticed that even in guiminer's native mining software. YouTube in Chrome or IE whacks it by about 15-20%.
Get yourself some MSI Afterburner and enable unofficial overclocking. It's a little bit of a PITA to get it setup initially because setting an overclock in Afterburner will reset Power Control, then resetting Power Control will drop your clocks back to the max in CCC. It takes a few tries for everything to set correctly.
How-to here for enabling unofficial overclocking:

So what are your steps for setting Power Control to +20% when overclocking with Afterburner? Have you tried just setting UnofficialOverclockingMode to 2 which completely disables Power Play?
I did not know setting it to 2 disabled the power tune. And oddly enough in the threads I read trying to get the overclocking in the afterburner to work, no one mentioned it.
Set UnofficialOverclockingMode to 1 to keep PowerPlay active (may not work on old ASICs), 2 to traditionally disable PowerPlay or to 0 to temporary disable unofficial overclocking path

It disables Power Play, not Power Control. Setting it to 2 just keeps it locked to the loaded 3D speeds at all times (doesn't drop the speeds when idling).
