You now that list you have in your head, the one that has everything you’d ever buy if your were rich, well this glass pool table just made my list. Blame Ed Cabarles for the linkage on this one.

wow its impressive but $40,000????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

How would those balls roll on a regular glass surface? Wouldn't they roll more (less friction) = different twist for billiard-pro's?

I wonder if it would have a clear spray-on texture of some kind. Otherwise it's basically ice hockey with billiard balls.

I would break something that nice to easily.. plus..

The initial installation is included with the purchase of the G-1 Billiard table, it is done by specially trained personnel, any subsequent moving or adjustment of the table will void the warranty, so please contact us with your requirements.

I guess neither of you watched the video. 30 seconds in.;)

Glass is covered by "VITRIK" clear surface material that imitates cloth.

I'm skeptical on how the plastic composite surface would play compared to felt, especially for ~$25k USD.

Now if it had laser lights to guide your shots...

Vitrik™ playing surface:

1. Is Transparent
2. Replicates the rolling resistance of a traditional felt playing surface.
3. Creates a stunning ‘floating on air’ effect as balls glide smoothly and quietly.
4. Retains the same roll characteristics over its entire lifetime.

Oh no, I saw that... I asked "How would those balls roll on a regular glass surface? "

I know it has a coating, I just wanted to know if they didn't put the coating on.

Shaddap! I'm at work so videos of any kind are blocked. I sent myself the link though.

Blasphemy!

The balls roll at a speed that is very similar to a normal cloth/slate table.

As someone that has been shooting pool since bar tables had dime coin slots, "very similar" dont cut it.

Looks cool tho.

is the glass top covered by some sort of material so that it isn't very smooth?

I wouldn't mind trying out the table to see if it's as bad to play on as I think it is. It's sexy looking, but I can't see anyone playing a serious game of anything on that table. As BillParrish said, "very similar" does not cut it.

Brunswick slate table with Simonis cloth FTMFW!

Read the article and stop asking if the glass is covered by something to make it less smooth. Aside from just reading the article, logic should tell you it is. It's not very hard to make a table out of glass and put balls on it, is it? So, ask yourself how this managed to qualify as high tech, if it's just a glass table...

The surface looked pretty slow to me. If I had the money, I'd prefer a tournament class table by Brunswick for about 8k.

The price listed on their site is in Australian dollars, but still high.

39,900.00 AUD

=

25,301.76 USD
Australia Dollars United States Dollars
1 AUD = 0.634129 USD 1 USD = 1.57697 AUD

Here's a quote from the site, that contradicts something they advertise.

The playing surface will give years of game play, but when it needs to be recovered eventually (just as cloth tables do), please contact us to have it recovered.

Warranty is only for 3yrs, so I'm guessing that's about the same life span of the surface or close to it. Cool, but I think I'd rather have a traditional table as well.

Man those balls look nasty... Are those standard balls? 'cause if they are, they look like they've just been rubbed all over manboobs, allowed to dry, and then saw some subsequent cheek from same said man...

Yeah, and the balls in the video do NOT appear to roll as though they were on felt. They jerk to a stop too quickly, IMO. If I could afford it though, hooking this up with a Microsoft Surface setup and custom ball/cue/stick tracking software would be killer!

Having the ball return on the side is retarded. Too much friction from what I can see in the video. It doesn't look natural, the balls come to an abrupt stop. It's interesting how they just roll the balls around slowly. I wonder if the table has so much friction that applying draw to the shot is a bit difficult.

the video showed the balls clearly moving at a unnatural rate (slow). cool to look at though

heh looks like the porn biz just got itself a new set piece. :D

If it were mine,I'd wouldn't risk it, all glass can break and trying to explain how you cut your ass at the hospital would be kinda embarrassing.

This is a show table for rich folks, not a serious table for avid players.

Still.. As a casual player.. If I was rich.. I'd own one... Looks F'kn Sweet.

How very...specific.
