Best Underrated/Underhyped PC game?

whoever said NOLF, thanks

I ended up getting a copy of NOLF, and couldn't stop playing it...finished it and loved it

picked up NOLF2...I don't like it as much...the non-stop ennemy respawning is driving me nuts, I don't like that at all, really turning me off the game :(

Portal. Everyone was so wrapped up in either TF2 or EP2, and despite a good trailer, it didn't seem to get much attention.

One of my favorite games to date. Total surprise since it seemed like it'd just be an example of a new weapon.

I don't think Portal is being overlooked by anyone :p

DOTT. That was a fun rpg at its time but who knows how many people know of this game

what is DOTT? Day of the Tentacle?

I'm assuming that's what he meant, although DoTT was highly received in the PC community at the time, and is an adventure game, not an RPG (and is practically universally accepted as an adventure game, and not disputed like a cross genre game).

this game was awful, appeals to a select few.

This statement is VERY untrue. This game is incredible, and anyone that gave it half a chance would probably enjoy it. You are of course entitled to your opinion though. I know a lot of people personally that have played and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yeah, Riddick was fucking great... though I don't think that was particularly underhyped or anything... then again, I talk to a lot of people who play mainly console games, so perhaps that's why...

anyway, my vote goes to Heavy Metal FAKK 2. It's an older game (2000, I think), but it's aged surprisingly well, IMO, and it's easily my favorite Quake III-engine based action game.

FAKK 2 was great! I haven't played it in a while either. I may have to install it tonight.

Hehe, Portal is one of the very few games that I've been looking forward to. Even though it's a 3D first person game (as too many games are these days), it's also a puzzler-- and there aren't enough of them. :)
I wouldn't say it's underhyped. I mean, it depends on where you are and who you talk to, but TF2 and Half Life episodes get no attention in my community. Portal is the only interesting one.
