"Best" Gaming Mouse Pad ?

another vote for the icemat here. I absolutely love mine, and it lasts a long, long time. Just remember to use the tape they give you, or it'll be pretty loud.

I've gone back to generic cloth pads, and in all honesty I'm happier now.

Since meeses started coming with pre-slidy feet the down-sides seem to have vanished for me.

There's nothing better than the SteelPad QcK+. But really, a mouse pad is personal preference. Try different ones and see what surface you like.

I'm with you. I've found that those polymer/plastic pads give a strange slip-slide effect that I don't like.
I'm using a Logitech MX518 on a cloth Allsop mousepad like this one, although mine's not the XL size: http://www.allsop.com/mouse-pads/image-mouse-pads/model-28660/mouse-pad-xl-raindrop/
It looks nice and I've never had it slip or cause me to do anything I didn't want to do.

I would love an func archetype mba or an icemat 1st silver, but I cant bring myself to spend ~$30 on a mousepad.

Caution on the Icemat 2. It doesn't work with all laser/optical mice. I have one in black that is no longer in use because the need to re-insert the USB wireless adapter everytime I switch batteries on the G7 started to get annoying. After 3 software updates this still isn't fixed.

I guess if you have a mouse that works w/o hitches, it is a great mousepad. Super smooth, great tracking, and very easy to clean. I'll just keep crossing my fingers that Logitech fixes this in the future.

Steelpad Qck with my power-hungry G7 mouse go hand in hand. I still feel the need for a cloth pad so thats why i chose this one and im glad because if it gets wet, like spillin soda, just wipe it off and pop it in the dryer! :D

my favorite mousepad had to be the ORIGINAL ratzpad .. :( the GS just cant compare

used the original for acouple years before it warped outta shape  still plenty of traction ... if i could only get ahold of like 5 of these !!!

now using a xray thunder 8 .. great pad (rough side)

The Best Gaming Mouse Pad EVER !!!! Is THE FuNc Pad 1030 Archtype MBA !!!!
The most mousing surface ive ever used in m y life its the most durable mouse pad
you will ever use !!!!!!!!! will last for ever !!!!!!!!

Another vote for the IceMat2

But you have to get Slick Surf Teflon feet and you will NEVER have to worry about mouse feet ever again.

I've had a func 1030 and an MX518 for over a year. Been using teflon pads on the mouse feet the entire time, but I think I might run it naked for a while now. The func pad is worn down in the middle, but I may just need to give it a good scrubbing tomorrow to bring it back to normal. I'm thinking of switching to an icemat sometime though.

I like everything about my "Cyber Snipa" except the name.

I've also used a lot of different types of pads, and my problem is that they all seem TOO slippery! So now I use a regular old felt/foam pad that I got for 2 bucks at a dollar store. Couldn't be happier.

My Allsop cloth mat is nice but cloth/felt pads tend to pick up lint and crap easier too.

The Original Ratpadz, been using mine since 2000 and still like new.

Has anyone had any experience with the Copperhead and Icemat2 Black?

Yes, and all of it utterly sexual. A year of glorious and utterly flawless mousing now, albiet a bit noisy for the first week while the pads wear in.
The only criticism would be the horrifying grinding noise/feeling you'll get when a bit of grime gets trapped under a foot, necessitating a wipedown, but I think that's more due to the fact that I use my PC desk for a lot more than PC work than any deficiency with the design.

My fUnc 1030 served me well (still my LAN party mousepad), but I use the fUnc F10.s right meow due to it's larger surface area, so far so good (no wear signs after 3 weeks).

dude i have had my func 1030 for the past 3 years and its still running strong

After a good scrub I have determined that the middle of my year old func 1030 is a little smoother than the edges. Just regular wear and tear. I'm thinking about moving to a steelpad qck or some other cloth pad that may be a lower friction surface.

How would a Steelpad QCK do with my MX518?

I tell you what, buy a Ratpadz XT and note your forum name on the order and if you are not fully satisfied in 30 days, send it back to me with this post and order number and I will give you your money back.

Thanks Kyle :). I think I'll probably get myself one for Christmas. It should be bigger than my 1030, right?

Func has a larger pads available in addition to the Func 1030. I went to the larger Func Archetype.

The Archetype is bigger at 11 by 9.5 inches than the 1030 and has the same surfaces as the 1030.

The F Series is available up to 17x11 inches in size but it is single sided in the 10 or 30 surface.

Now you can even customize the surface with a graphic you send in.

for some odd reason my logitech g7 only tracks well on the smooth side of my fun1030 and it skips on the rough side with noticiable hiccups in tracking. Does anyone know the case why?

blahh just read the faq at the func site and its a firmware issue.

Due to issues with the original firmware in the Logitech G7 mouse, users have experienced intermittent problems tracking on the rough side of the Archetype Black surface sheet. Also note that the metal MBA base may lower the range on wireless mice. Like the original G5 Laser issues, we are hoping a firmware update will be made available soon.

Steelpad 5L or QCK+. It's all preference, I like them both, I've been favoring the good old 5L + Intellimouse 3.0 combo. Though, I'd like to try a qck+Intellimouse 1.1ss/se combo. I have a regular 1.1 sitting here, it's deccent. =). I say try a few at a local lan and see what fits you best.

I like the Func 1030surface machined billet aluminum with the MX Revolution laser mouse and G15 Logitech keyboard

As much as I would like to support the [H] and buy the new ratpad.. the GS left me with a sour taste in my mouth. At first it was great. Then after about 3 months of WOWing, the surface had worn down, making it not as smooth, and caused tracking problems.

Now..I wasnt all that annoyed.. it wasnt very expensive. Now im looking at the new one, and it costs twice as much. I think ill wait for some Long Term use reviews. Not the ones where a guy gets it, uses it for a day.. maybe a week if we are lucky, then posts his/her review. I want to know this thing will last longer than 3 months.. heck maybe 1 year!

Lately ive been using a mousing "surface" from CS Hyde (If i spelled that right) Its been great for me, its lasted well over a year, and is still as smooth as the day I bought it. I think it cost me 10 bucks. the rubber backing on it grips really well, almost as if its glued to the desk. Anyway.. just my .02

The Ratpadz XT will fix any of your problems, and had you ever contacted Ratpadz about the GS, they would have made it right. :)

I like Kyle and all...and I have a ratpad, but I fell in love with this ExactMat since I bought it at Q'Conn 05 and it still works great (smooth as a freshly powdered baby's butt)

Got a logitech x500 mouse and a func 1030 I've been using several hours a day for the last few years (3). Works great! Pad is still like new, mouse buttons are wearing out.

There's is $40 shipped, Ratpadz XT is $25. There's is aluminum and much more easily damaged or bent, if you lan this is something to think about. I will not bring up the fact about their purchase pages not being coded correctly. ;) And you know that Ratpadz is a company that will give you superior customer service. Just mail us at Ratpadz@ratpadz.com with any questions. Or mail me personally at kyle@hardocp.com.

This might be considered slightly off-topic, but it's a question that's been on my mind for a bit.

What exactly is the purpose behind slick surfaces? For ball mice, there was always a tendency for the ball to "stick" if too much pressure is applied to the top of the mouse, but since opticals/lasers have no such issues, why use a slick surface? I find that with my generic pad, I can make precise 90s, 180s (and any angle in-between), I can track targets very well, and my tracking doesn't seem to be affected by pressure exerted on the mouse itself (nor do I think that my mouse ever has issues tracking on it). So, what exactly is it about frictionless surfaces that is conducive to better mousing?

Less friction, teflon is used on mouse feet cause of it's nearly identical static / kinetic friction coefficients.
