ok, so I do like the ratpadz gs but I seam to have to replace it every 5-6months because it wears out.

I'm not looking for something huge, but something about the same size as the ratpadz gs or maybe slightly smaller.

Your suggestions?

Kyle - NEW Ratpadz XT is for sale now. Should give you exactly what you are looking for.

I think this is one of those personal preferance things.

Just experiment, and find out for yourself.

Me, personaly, what works best is no mouse pad at all.

I like the slickness of the original ratpadz. It slides around the table more than I like, but some better feet attached and it works great.

I kept wearing bald spots into my ratpadz gs's (went through 2 in about a year) so I switched to Func 1030 and a year later its still like brand new. Total sweetness! I work at home doing AutoCAD mostly and game alot on top of that so I have a lot of hours on this pad.

a lot of people are liking the fUnc products. hmmm. Kinda old product, I'm seeing reviews from 2000

How well does the fUnc 1030 work with the mx1000?

I as well used a func pad for years. Recently I switched to the ThermalTake Gamma Pad because my MX1000 seems to like a more textured surface. I think I paid 15 bucks for it. But as previously stated, its all preference.

My fUnc 1030 served me well (still my LAN party mousepad), but I use the fUnc F10.s right meow due to it's larger surface area, so far so good (no wear signs after 3 weeks).

What about icemat 2nd edition? Those look good, no slipping about, big area, lovely and smooth, and look amazing too

great pad. it is my favorite mousepad. and ive tried many, including the funcpad. its funny too, when any of my friends use my computer to check email or whatever, never fail they always say, OMG thats so smooth. and i say, Yes indeedy!

I use the 2nd edition black icemat. Very nice indeed and I have tried many. You don't have to worry about them wearing out really either which was very important to me.

I'm using the Func with my MX1000. Good combo.

Go to any flooring store and ask for a sample of composite granite/marble product. It will be perfectly smooth 1' x 1' by 1" and heavy as a concrete block - It won't slip, it's free and it will last forever. There's many different material types, I'm sure you'll find one that has the proper reflectivity/opacity to use with an op mouse. It also looks way cooler than any available surface, imnsho.

lol, I have been wondering what is the best mousepad also, im currently using a cardboard spine from those cheap generic calendars, I previously used a piece of paper for my mice, but those last for around 3 days.

I must say Captain Rehab idea about using marble tile does not sound like a bad idea, I may go to home depot tomorrow.
Thanks Captain Rehab lol

MX510 + fUnc 1030 for t3h w1nn4r!

.....er something :p

Again, as has been said many times already, it's personal preference.

IceMat 2 black. Nuff said. However, for optimual results, you need to replace your teflon pads at a decent rate as they were out pretty quickly with heavy use and performance drops as a result.

I have been experimenting with 12x12 marble and granite tiles for about 6 years now. Dark tiles with little or no flaws work best with the new lazer mice, black is wicked fast with teflon mouse feet. Wireless mice need white, the dark colors cause the camera to work harder to capture enough light to track, wears your batteries down faster with dark colors. I went an bought the G7 the day after it was stocked at the local Best Buy. Then I went to a tile shop and found an almost perfectly black flawless tile. I polished the tile more then put the mouse on it, I can blow the mouse off the tile without turning red in the face.

I'm wondering what the best mousepad would be thats NOT loud like my icemat! I want a silent mousepad, but one that has great performance.

Get a good quality cloth mat and then spray it with silicon lube. That's what I do, both quiet and slick. I am using an Allsop mat.

I usually use very large cloth mousepads...I've been using an everglide DKT I got from MML4 for awhile now, but recently my roomie got a new mouse that wouldn't work well with his current pad, a Razer Propad (which is just a white eXactMat) so we switched, and to be honest, I've completely fallen in love with it and won't trade back. :p i'd highly suggest picking up an eXactMat...only 25 bucks on Newegg, and if you want white over black, the Propad is only one dollar more.

What are the advantages of having a mouse pad? I have a G5 mouse. Should mouse pads still be used on laser mice as opposed to just optical mice?

I realised the other day that my icemat original was creating some fairly large skips in the movement of my mouse pointer on the desktop, funnily enough I didn't notice this in game, and that probably because I've not played competativly online in absolutly ages.

I think i've worn away the frosted coating to the top of the icemat its much smoother and clearer and I think thats causing problems with my Copperhead.

Im actually using my desk at the moment which is quite new and is supprisingly smooth, I think i might go for a Icemat black 2nd edition.

I prefer the pads from CShyde.com. Reasonably priced, flat, and cheap teflon discs to go with them.

I have a fire-pad professional gaming mouse pad i love it in the pic you can see my old xtrac under the keyboard keep it there for back up like the texture of the fire-pad more

I've gone through a ton of diff mouse pads, func1030/archetype, everglide, razer mantis, allsop (3 diff pads), 3m precision pad etc etc. I've concluded that the Steelpad Qck+ is the best, I've been using it for almost a year now.

had a func 1030 for a long time now and it isn't all scratched up. so i'd recommend that. as someone said before it is very durable. still got my mx510 too hahahha. haven't seen the need to get another mouse. original red baby :-D

My 2nd Edition Icemat still makes me feel all nice inside, nearly two years on. It fulfils/exceeds all criteria for A Good Mousepad.

I tried just about every plastic pad out there and liked the func pads the most, but moved back to a plain old "ALLSOP" cloth top pad and LOVE it.. very smooth tracking with the perfect amount of resistence. yay for that.

Ratpadz are made from a very soft plastic that loses its roughness over time,. which in turn makes them suck. They last about 2 months on average for a hardcore user. My funcpad and eXactMat lasted me over a year each without any such problems. It really comes between those 2 pads as far as I'm concerned.
