I've sort of been out of the loop in the RTS scene for a while. The last RTS I really put any time into was C&C Generals: Zero Hour. So what RTS has everyone been playing lately?

company of heroes is the best RTS i played yet. Its very competitive online and the gameplay is awesome. check it out.

Supreme Commander. If you ever played Total Annihilation, this will be right up your alley. ;)

World in Conflict. Some might consider it RTT (Real Time Tactics) rather than Real Time Strategy. Either way, it's a whole lot of fun to be had.

Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, C&C3 was decent as well. Sins of a Solar Empire is amazing

COH is pretty good....im not entirely into it because im horrible at it...but its good!

ill stay starcraft even though its not current at all...but its so damn timeless :p

+1 for Company of Heroes

Other good choice:
C&C3 Kane's Wrath
Supreme Commander (Haven't tried Forged Alliance yet)

On another note, been playing the beta for Red Alert 3 for the last few days. Verdict: It's AWESOME!:) Can't wait for the game to come out in October.

OMG only 1 person said Sins of a Solar Empire?!

+50million times infinity for Sins of a Solar Empire!!!

WiC and CoH are all you need, both are immense fun. C&C 3 TW is good fun too and easy to get in to

Another CoH vote along with Sins of a Solar Empire (Sins can get boring in SP vs AI after a couple weeks once you master each race. Hopefully an expansion adds a campaign mode to round out the back story of the series.) Download Galaxy Forge for free to make your own Sins maps. This can be fun almost as a game on it's own.
I have SupCom but haven't even opened it yet. It was hard to resist buying it at only $20 at EB.

CoH was the first RTS I got back into after about 4 years. It is great fun and was easy to get into. Star Trek Armada was the last one I played prior to it.

Company of Heroes and Supreme Commander x 10 billion. Supcom will rape your mind, but make you feel smart once you get good at it. Company of Heroes is very cool, but the competetive community is fun. It gets boring at the highest level though.

Company of Heroes. Thought I was tired of WW2 games then this gem landed on my lap. ;)

SupCom is pretty good. Not as good as Total Annihilation though.

Sins of a Solar Empire is amazing. Slow enough pace to be manageable but very big in scale.

Another vote for CoH. Anyone want to form a game some time, let me know.

so i guess the general consensus is for Company of Heroes then. I suppose i'll go for that deal on steam

In my own opinion World In Conflict is the best multilayer RTS. It is a great RTS to jump into online because there is no resource gathering or base building. It is pure action from start to finish. I have been playing it for almost a year and I still love it. The online battles are great!

SupCom FA
I didn't like sins. Arbitary orbital slot rules made me cry, and the AI just does the whole "I know where you are not so im sending a huge fleet there"

CoH For sure. I never play RTS's multiplayer, but this one has grabbed me like none other (even Starcraft). It has an active community, great graphics and gameplay, replay value. It's all there! Single player is great, and multi offers a great thinking on your feet type challenge. It's a bit different from your traditional RTS games, but offers an immense strategic depth and gameplay options. It focuses a bit less on establishing your own economy and resource gathering and instead centers more on the action. It's one I'll be playing for a long time to come and until it came along, the only other RTS game I'd bother playing mutiplayer was Starcraft.

Sins also gets a vote from me, though since the longer nature of the games prevents me from playing it mutiplayer often (CoH games are under an hour 90% of the time, and many times under 30 minutes). Keep in mind that Sins also prevents people from playing certain styles. Turtling is a sure way to a quick defeat. Waiting for the expansion to start playing this one again.

My money is on Dawn of War. Get the full collection and you have enough RTS lovin' til Starcraft II or Dawn of War 2. The new expansion Soulstorm is pretty fun but I don't like the aircrafts. They seem way too durable and cause pathing issues.

If Sins of a Solar Empire had single player I would give it a shot but I'm not a fan of 4X games.

If you are into loooong battles then Sins of a Solar Empire

If you are in for action and pushing forward then DawnOfWar Sooo much fun :D
