got a win on my second game. everyone got revived at least once lol. I got the finishing kill with 4 kills total. been playing squads so far. looting dead players is a pain. especially if everything gets clumped into one spot. like if you need rifle ammo, and its under the health pack you are already full of, you can't get that ammo without moving away and dropping a health pack so you can pick up the one thats covering it. they gotta work on that, I think they already said they were. the circle has a good pace to it. I like it though. I've only played about 7 games and each one has been easy to get a decent gun which I like. pubg had more looting time in it. this is more about shooting and keeping up with the circle.

I'm enjoying it so far. They need to fix a few things but overall it's better than I expected.

anyone elses voip buggy? sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't since firestorm. seems like if I go into a conquest game that helps make it work in firestorm. but sometimes it doesn't work in conquest. played 3 solo games so far. more intense than squads for sure. got a 11 kill win though. last guy was in a tank and I blew him up with a v1. it was pretty epic. game needs a looting update since its really important to always have armor in the inventory.

I agree it is a bit buggy.

However, I've learned a few tricks.

1. Don't switch between headset and speakers while in game, this seems to mess up the VoIP. (One game I can use my mic, the next it doesn't").
2. I noticed that unless I have my headsets software running, firestorm doesn't register my mic at all. (Steelseries Arctis 7s)

I have a dedicated mic on my desk that is always plugged into the red port on my mobo. and for sound I use headphones.

Waiting up to 3 or 4 minutes for a game is absolutely insane for a BR mode.

They need to fix this immediately.

for squads or solo?

Squads. I don't usually play solo in BR modes, it's not as fun IMHO.

Even with 3 of my regular gaming buddies, we're finding 3 to 4 minute wait times is kind of common already.

loot update coming next week. items look like they interact with each other, so they can't stack on top of one another now.

Got my first win today, got to play for a couple hours. Game is very fun, obviously needs some changes like the stated video above. BUT, fun none the less. Runs flawlessly on my system @ 1440p too. Love it.

Also, jump on Discord and join the BFV discord channel, best way to jump into games with other guys that use comms and actually try to win.

Regarding the other modes, Breakthrough and Grand Operations in particular, I am starting to really like this game. A few things I discovered:

1) You need vehicles. The vehicle focused maps and he Hannut campaign is great.

2) Use squad leader abilities. Call in artillery. Makes the game much more exciting.

3) It takes a while to find a weapon that works for you. Stick with each weapon until you can fill out your specializations. One rifle that sucked turned out great after speccing it out with a clip, less recoil and the right scope. The stock weapons are lame.

Overall I am coming to the conclusion all this game needs is more and better maps. The core gameplay is good and I think it has improved with patching. I like it.

interesting video here

on another note, I always thought the guns and skins they do like the m30 fire skin was stuff you could get using company coin and not have to do the missions. I didnt do the missions so I looked for the skin under my m30 and dont see it to buy. so if you dont do the event you cant ever get the item?

The only thing we need from Bad Company is the SP campaign quality, but even that is of minimal use because BF is mainly an MP game. Otherwise I'm not interested in a BC game but I'd probably give it a shot.

An evolutionary upgrade of BF4 is what we need. Proper server browser. Proper server rentals. A lot of content upon release. Not excessively grindy. Drop the excessive game modes such as battle royale. Focus on the 5 or 6 core game modes and make each map work well with each mode.

A lot of people look back at the console shooter that BC was with nostalgia, but it really wasn't that great. Even the destruction wasn't that special. Ever play Golmud in BF4? The destruction in the village area rivals that of BC2. Besides, a hand grenade blowing up a 7x7 foot section in a wall is just stupid. I'd welcome more realistic destruction, but that means you'd be punching small holes into things. Otherwise the maps become too flat.

Battlefield 5 is getting rental servers later this year.

The Rented Server Program
https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/186817/community-broadcast-the-evolution-of-rsp/p1?

The Rented Server Program, or RSP for short, is a topic that continues to be discussed with incredible passion across the Battlefield Community. We’ve talked a little about it previously, but we’re now in a position where we can give you a more complete update.

Yes, take this as your confirmation that RSP is coming to Battlefield V and work is already underway.

The title of this Broadcast is “The Evolution of RSP” and that’s an important factor to consider. As we progress, we’ll be taking the RSP program as you know it and rebranding it as “Private Games”.

We’ve got a lot of information to cover, but let’s hit the highlights first:
  • RSP is now rebranded as Private Games
  • It’s coming after this Summer
  • It will be available for all Battlefield V players
  • We plan to offer the base level of Private Games tools for FREE
Now let’s dive into the nuts and bolts of Private Games.

PRIVATE GAMES
We’ll be rolling out Private Games after this Summer to all Battlefield V owners, and development will evolve over time. Today, we want to detail what you can expect for the first release.

Private Games will grant you the ability to create your own Battlefield V server, directly from within the main menu, or through a browser via a new web service that we’re creating. The servers that you create will remain online while there are people playing on it. If no one is active on the server, it goes away. But don’t worry! With the server configs saved locally, the ability to quickly start a new Private Game or switch between various server setups will be available.

The servers you create will be located at the closet ping site to you and will be placed within our own server infrastructure.

There will be no cost for base level of Private Games tools, it will be free for everyone.

So, what’s in the box?

For the first phase of Private Games, we’ve included some important “must-haves” as well as administration tools to let you control your server.
These are the features we plan on having live for Phase 1, but some items could be added or shifted to a later phase. We’ll definitely keep you informed over the coming months.

Core Functionality

  • Create private game from main menu
  • Set custom name for the server
  • Set description for the server
  • Password protect the server
  • Control what maps are used within the map rotation
  • Control what game modes are available
  • Control the number of players needed to break pre-round
  • Kick players from the current game
  • Control what classes are available
  • Control what weapons are allowed
  • Control if vehicles are allowed
  • Control if the kill cam will be displayed
  • Turn friendly fire on or off
  • Turn regenerative health on or off
  • Change soldier tags as visible or not
  • Enable or disable third-person camera view
  • Enable squad leader spawn only
  • Enable or disable aim assist auto rotation
  • Enable or disable aim assist cooldown
  • Control bullet damage scaling
  • Control game mode ticket scaling
  • Control soldier and vehicle respawn timers
  • Turn the mini map on or off
  • Enable or disable the compass

Organization Options

  • Apply a pre-set config to a private game

    • Vanilla, Infantry only, DICE-authored etc.
  • Save your server settings as a custom preset so you can reapply at will
  • Have your name highlighted in chat if you’re the owner of the server
  • Administrate and manage server settings in the main menu or via our Private Games web portal
  • Have the description of your Private Game presented on the loading screen
  • Manually switch specific players between teams
  • Report private games in the advanced search screen

This is just the beginning. We’ll be following up with further updates, such as creating and managing lists of moderators, VIPs, and banned players, and more.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

What is the Community Development Initiative?

Simply put, it’s building features and improvements in partnership with our passionate community – working hand-in-hand on the games we all love.

One of the core benefits of utilizing this Community Development Initiative for Private Games is that it allows us to build our features directly alongside all of you.
As we progress further down this road we will be engaging more with our community as to what you want to see included with Private Games. We know that this is a subject that you’re deeply passionate about, and we’re extremely grateful that you’ve put voice to that passion.

At EA PLAY, we’ll be bringing you a Dev Talk, or, as they are now known, On the Battlefield. Here, we’ll answer some of the biggest questions we’ve been asked up until then and provide a status update on Private Games. We want to ensure that you’re up to date on what to expect, and when to expect it.

There will also be times when we bring the community into the studio to playtest and feedback on Private Games firsthand. We surfaced this at a recent Game Changer event and received a ton of great feedback which is already helping shape what we deliver and when. As we drive to improve communication and transparency – something our Community Development Initiative is founded on – we’ll ensure that those who join us for playtests and feedback sessions are armed with information to speak openly to you all about this feature, the progress we’re making, and the next steps in the development of Private Games.

Private Games is a feature that we’re committed to, and we look forward to talking to you more about this throughout this Summer.

There’s more to come, and thanks for being a part of the Battlefield journey with us.

thats awesome. I like the idea of squad leader spawn only. since thats how earlier bf was. you could really change the game with those settings they are providing.

I assume this means the game can become competitive with password protected servers? I'd really like to play competitively again.

there were certain aspects of the game i think are missing from the later games but yeah there was some stuff that was just bad.. i fk'ing miss the AT-4 though, why something like that wasn't added to the later games i don't know but being able to snipe people long range with it was the most satisfying thing to ever exist in a FPS game in my opinion. also i wasn't a huge fan of BFBC2 until the heavy metal map was released even with it's bugs it just felt like one of the most enjoyable map to play no matter what weapon you used, what class you played, whether you hated or liked vehicles, etc.

 That sounds cool and all, I'm just wondering how many people still play...I haven't touched the game in a week now and can't say there's anything I miss. Just not enough of anything to keep me interested, oh wait now you can play as Hans with a cool end of game screen animation for $19.99!

Infantry? Mechanized infantry? Cavalry? I used the term combat arms specifically. I JUST learned thanks to your retort that the Soviets had "2,484 soviet female snipers" First I had heard of this. So that does change things. However that is a tiny %. But to my point they weren't running around with the grunts. They most likely performed overwatch, etc.

Pilots, truck drivers, nurses, etc don't count as combat arms. That was my original point.

I learned something today. I like that. Thank you for your good retort.

I will ask some other f9lks. I kniw people who ate very knowledgabke about subject.

I will wait to see how this rolls out, but it is probably too little too late for me. It also leaves a lot of unanswered questions since they call them private servers. It almost sounds like the more recent COD style where it is all unranked and you have to go into a different area to access them.

Death by Data. DICE are removing dedicated playlists for Frontlines and Domination this week. They are doing so because the data told them to do it.

5 new maps coming and then pacific theater probably in nov. so looks like we'll get on avg a new map every month including this month. and then the stuff everyone really wants in nov. dont know how much they'll do with pacific theater but if they can hype it before holidays and show a decent amount of content the game could sell alot more copies.

Will give them a try. What I find interesting is that there is still so few weapons. They still haven't even finished the American small arms and we're 8 months post release. Really wanting Soviet weapons and I suppose those will come in time.

Edit: Is Domination dead? If so that sucks and why games as a service are shit.

Conquest, Domination, TDM, Rush (and do a good job with it) and Rush Infantry. Maybe one other mode if it is truly good. That is all we need.

Finally a Pacific Theater. And on latest Frostbite. Going to look amazing.

Ultimately though this just feels like killing time while Sweden works on BC3. And I really wish we could fast forward time to BC3 because I really miss modern combat and BF3/BF4.

true, but it sound like we'll get fresh content for bfv and then have BC3 to play soon after. I hope anyway.

bc2 wasn't exactly truly battlefield. the max players were 32 and smaller maps.

Many people regard Bad Company 2 as the most fun Battlefield has ever been. So uh, I think that means its truly Battlefield.

And BC2 is what it is, due to the smaller scale and focus of Rush Mode. So, these frequent asides about 64 players, don't matter. Even further, I am of the opinion that BC2 played best with 24 players (see: the max players on console versions), rather than the 32 possible on PC. Which most PC servers ran with. It turns out that large player counts aren't the only markers for a good game.

BF3 and 4 blow BC out of the water, but BC2 was good for its time. Player count isn't everything and typically 48 players on Conquest was ideal for BF4. I did play many games with 64 but sometimes that was a bit chaotic, and I think I typically enjoyed 48 the most. Plenty of vehicles to go around.

Yeah, DICE LA always does a good job on the post-release content while Sweden works on the next title. I'll jump back in to BF5 with Pacific theater release.

BC2 had design decisions made around 360/PS3 console limitations, but those will be gone with BC3 launching on PS5, so hopefully the game will be more of a real modern combat successor to BF4. And it wouldn't hurt if they perhaps throw in some of the classic favorites from BC2 like tracer darts and Gustavs and certain guns, vehicles and aircraft.

DICE Sweden has been very lame as of late, I don't have high expectations. And BC2 wasn't hardware limited. Plenty of PS1/2 era games allowed prone. There were many game design decisions that made BC2 different. In some ways good but again, it was certainly watered down for more simplistic gameplay. No prone, no bipods, few vehicles, inaccurate weapons designed for controller users. The reason BC2 has a strong reputation is due to many people never experiencing BF prior to it on console. Prior to Bad Company BF was a PC series, with BF2 a limited port to consoles as secondary platforms. BF 2142 never even made it to consoles. BC1 was okay but BC2 was certainly better. This was certainly nostalgic for consoles because it represents the pinnacle of the series, when it became relevant on console.

Compared to PC shooters and previous and later BF games on PC BC2 is nowhere near as good.
