Spotting isnt as bad as bc2, Ive noticed 80 percent of the time if they go prone/out of view the tag dissappears quickly.
there are no 'clips' in bf3.
The game calls them clips in several areas. Go poking around, you will find it

I dont have to worry about that, i bought MOH so i will be in the Beta. Another thing i forgot that NEEDS to be changed is they still have the white streaking smoke from snipers and that is just WRONG. The flicker (which i like) is more than enough of a position hint.
Yeah true it does get disabled (vehicles) after 2-3 but still, i fire 3 and then i need another 2 to destroy it? 5 in total? Idk seems wrong.
I LOVEEEEEE the suppression affect, both when shot at and making others experience it.

The way Origin is integrated into the alpha I am pretty sure that EA never had any intention of making BF3 available on steam. That does not faze me as I buy most games on physical medium, but what really pisses me off is not being able to use the steam overlay.
The effects are spot on in my opinion. It really makes it hard to return fire. The sound in the game is what has me extremely impressed. It's a very intense experience when you're running across the park and you see bullets spraying around you and your vision is getting slightly blurred. It makes you react with trying to save yourself, rather than turn on the spot and return fire. I always head for cover then peak out now, whereas in bc2 I would be able to turn on the spot and kill a guy 3/4 of the time. Not in this game lol.
EDIT: for clarification, when I say "see bullets spraying around you" I mean the occasional bullet flying by and the others hitting the ground around you.
What ever happened to that nda we agreed to?
I personally don't mind the battlelog setup, and find it vastly superior to the server browser in BC2. Far more responsive, for one. Doesn't take forever to find servers, etc.
This is gonna be one of those games that really benefit from a high-speed multicore (4+) CPU.
My X3 @ 3.4Ghz had 100% utilization on all 3 cores. Good thing I was planning an upgrade in september (oh god I hope bulldozer doesn't suck).

They just posted a warning on the main battlelog page about breaking the NDA.
Doesn't take forever for me, and not to mention that battlelog is missing basic functionality present in BC2 (in particular auto-queuing). There are numerous other issues with using it as the sole portal to MP which I won't elucidate upon here.
However, I actually think its another way for EA/DICE to exert control over how and when users can play their games. Apart from obvious issues such as when web sites are ddos'd or simply break, what would be the easiest way for EA/DICE to encourage people to move on to the next iteration or sequel? Perhaps simply turn off the battlelog server browser for BF3?
You can use the overlay in non steam games
No they didn't
Notice Remember, all players in the Alpha Trial are under NDA. Posting screenshots and sharing information outside of this site is a violation of the agreement.
And how is that any different than any of the shit you mentioned happening to the login server of a previous game? Bf2 had login server crashes and even the stats servers went down before. You act like they've never had backed problems before and that they arr somehow only now susceptible
I have an i7920 stock. I never go above 50%. If I do decide to snag this, I honestly may not upgrade my machine at all. It does run BUTTA smooth for me.
Having an i7 doesn't mean your gonna get great fps, it just helps. If you have an hd 5450(just an example) its not gonna run. And how is it hard to log into the battlelog? Use your EA account, its the same. What browser were you using?

Thanks for the response, I was really curious about how well this was actually implemented, since they've been really hyping it up.
Sounds quite cool.
Did it also make it more difficult/inaccurate to fire, as they've claimed?
Maybe you didn't return fire when it happened, but I'd love to know if they really managed to make it that in-depth/effective.
I download the alpha and when I try and play it tells me my driver version is 275.33 and I need 274.39 to play. Yet when I go to Nvidia's site it shows 275.33 as the latest driver. I have a Galaxy GTS 450.
No perks for the rpgs in the alpha. There is a combo that lets you run around with 600 rounds for the M249 (3x200) instead of the default 2x100.So has anyone found any painful scrub/troll weapon combos yet like the CG+Explosives upgrade+Explosives Damage?
Oh, it definitely does what its designed to do. When my screen blurs I duck and take cover. I would say it does make it a pain to try and hit longer range targets, but that might also be in part to the low graphical settings, and it being difficult to distinguish players at times.
I am finding it to be difficult to score hits with sniper rifles even after holding my breath. I'm putting shots right on players heads, but not even scoring a hit. I'm sure we won't see near the amount of snipers in BF3 as we see in BC2.
Finally, if you haven't made it to second or third phase yet on Metro it is AWESOME.
I am well aware of that, now show me how to use it with BF3.
Yeah....they did.
BF2 was a shittily designed in-game system which is 7 years old, I don't see how that somehow negates all the subsequent improvements made over the years in BF games, and currently I experience none of those issues in BC2. As for susceptibility, how often are web sites attacked/infiltrated compared to paging servers?
At least if stat servers get taken down it doesn't stop you from otherwise being able to access all the other features/info contained in an in-game UI. If battlelog gets taken down you are pretty much stuffed.
In terms of whether its feature complete, do you honestly think that features are still able to be implemented given the release window in 8 weeks? These days alphas are more like betas, and betas are demos used to entice the pre-order crowds.
