Hardcore removes spotting, no minimap, less HP, no HP regen, no HUD (ammo counter), and is generally better in every way. :D

Turret use is a specialization, usually it's the Vehicle Alternate Weapon specialization.

Sounds better to me.

I used to be able to use it a few days ago, but now I cant. It is a special pack I have to select?

I played non hardcore for about half of my rank. Currently level 49 right now and I found it easier to get kills and level up by playing hardcore. After a while, I can't imagine going back to regular gameplay since the enemy usually eats bullets.

I thought this was the Battlefield 3 thread, not the Bad Company 2 thread.

If you are putting half a mag into people to kill them in BFBC2, change server. I always have to put a lot more ammo into people to kill them in crappy servers or if I'm lagging more than the game is telling me. In that situation, people tend to drop dead a couple of seconds after I've finished firing, which is a good sign that lag is running amok and also accounts for why you've burned through over half of your mag when you actually get kill confirmation.

I agree...though I screw myself occasionaly by only firing the usual 1-2 3 round bursts and move on thinking they are dead when they are not.

I don't want to pop up in this thread and rile things up. I just have to get this out there

I found a craigslist posting for videogames playstesting. signed up got an email 2 days ago to see if I could get in yesterday at 6:30 pm. I replied too late and basically received a slots are full email, but I got an email today promptly went in at 8:30 PM.

32 people, sat us down in a room with Alienware PC's. I managed to take a peek at the specs 8gb 2600(non-k) alienware PC with some sort of AMD graphics. Took a quick survey asking about upcoming releases and how I rate them. After the survey I spy a BF3 background. At this point my fuckin jaw drops. I am sitting down with 31 other people and we are about to play fucking BF3. The hosts split us up into 2 groups. So essentially 16 v 16.

I assume we basically played the E3 demo build of the game because it was the exact same map and everything.

I don't want to say anymore unless I can, for the sake of NDA and [H]. I unfortunately have no proof, as they made sure we had no camera and that our phones were off. But, I have no reason to troll and lie about something like this. The experience is something I will probably remember for a long while. I mean, I just got to play BF FUCKING 3!!!!

It was a government experiment on mind control, thought projection and memory manipulation.

Prepare to be erased.

Looks like I gotta surf Craigslist more, ahahahahaha.

At this point, I would have left :p

To make matters worse, out of every person that I spoke to were consolites. Granted, some dudes have played waaaay more videogames than myself, but they weren't PC gamers, in the sense that we all are here. So, people were not amped up as much as I was. I spoke to one guy and he wished it would have been COD MW3. Fail.

Another fail was when I asked one of the hosts if I could turn on 120hz because they were using alienware aw2310's. He replied "No, these are EA's machine's and I wouldn't recommend tampering with them." LOL

It was still fun though, my side blew the other side out of the water. At one point this other dude had something like 48 -9 at the end of the match and I had like 38-10 or something. We were like WTF as defenders because we clearly won at the start when we ran their respawn tickets down before they could blow up the OBJ. But, obviously that was done purposely for the sake of getting to playtest the entire map.

Reality or not, it was one of my best experiences in a long ass while :p

look up vgmarket, they are the company that held the playtesting. I assume EA contacted them to hold this event in some vacant suite.

Is this post accurate? Based on my experience it seems to be and, if that is the case, the majority of weapons in BC2 do quite a bit less damage than their equivalents in BF2.

There are no problems with the hit reg at all. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj6isEfqOu0"]YouTube - ‪Bad Company 2 - Shotguns Piss Me Off Compilation‬‏[/ame] Not mine.

We have no idea under what conditions he's recording those videos, for all we know he could be connecting to china from the US, have a screwed NIC or have a million other problems.

The hit reg has always been fine for me in the UK connecting to UK servers, in fact the hit reg is far superior to many games, I've said this a few times before. If a quad comes at you and drives past, the driver is moving relative to your view about as fast as you can get in the game, you can still shoot directly at him and kill without having to lead.

I've had the same exact problem with shotguns and buckshots a few times (as i mentioned in the bc2 thread). Im on the east coast and only play on east coast servers.

i have literally never seen the hitreg as bad as this, ever. something terrible is going on here.

the hitreg is usually quite solid, especially after the changes they made at one point.

BS

R8 and previous versions were much better imo, i never complained about hit reg back then, i usually played with m95 + red dot just for kicks and had a very good time, now it's unplayable,40% of the time i see blood but no hit indicator :S

They better get in right in BF3 or else there's now way i'm buying the game, shooting at moving targets has become pretty like gambling at this point, not to mention knifing, frostbite engine for teh suck.

I frequently get that sort of issue connecting to UK servers from the UK. The issue is also noticeable with scoped rifles; hitting people and seeing blood spray out but not being awarded any damage or hit markers happens dozens of times per game.

The people saying this is something remarkable either don't notice it or are in a very small minority. All of the people I mumble with, both in the EU and US report it, and there are scores of videos on youtube documenting it.

The most annoying thing about it is that to be a good sniper in BC2 you have to be a bad sniper. If you lead the target your shots don't connect; if you shoot at or behind a moving target they will.

Unfortunately I think this is the present state of netcode and has been the case since Valve implemented lag compensation way back in CS. Local prediction makes it look like you're hitting someone, yet in reality you're not. By trying to level the playing field for people with shitty connections they make it less immersive and more frustrating because of constant situations like you describe.

Give me back the quake days when ping mattered.

If they had animations, wouldn't that make for easy targets? I find it an odd question to begin with. I wouldn't want these animations in MP.

Man I can't tell you how many more vehicles I would be able to steal from bases if there was a slower vehicle entry. Just last night, almost had a tank stolen but the jerk teleported in and exploded my dumb ass instead. This is where good design comes in - realism vs gameplay. Sure it'd make more sense to have him open the door / hatch and climb in, but can you imagine how frustrating it would get when you're frozen in the animation and an enemy comes into your screen? "GET IN THE GO#&)@ HMMV...F*** G**D****! slow-ass (@&)!" :D

I know I'm going off topic to talk about BF3 but here goes:

No vehicle enter/exit animations in MP confirmed. http://www.battlefield3gamer.com/ap...88-confirmed-no-enter-exit-vehicle-animations

If they had animations, wouldn't that make for easy targets? I find it an odd question to begin with. I wouldn't want these animations in MP.

But aren't you supposed to be vulnerable when entering/exiting? That's more true to life but i can see how it might be less fun.

I've had the same exact problem with shotguns and buckshots a few times (as i mentioned in the bc2 thread). Im on the east coast and only play on east coast servers.

I have the same problem also. I hate when the Brazilian players hop on the American servers. One guy killed me 22 times in one match. One time I was chasing him and emptied 2 M1911 clips into his back and a M95 shot to the back before he realized someone was chasing him. Blood was just popping all off him. He spun around and head shot me with the starter Medic gun.

When I died he still had 100% health.

:(

/ragequit that game!

Another time I been watching that Blackmesatech guy on Youtube. So I was all pumped up to try some stuff in game. I run across 4 guys all shooting over a pile of wood. I align my 870 w/ Magnum ammo shotty with all 4 of their pumpkins from the side. I'm giggling at my ensuing fame and pull the trigger 4 times.

Nobody is dead.... WTF right?

So I reload. Pull the trigger 4 more times.

Nobody is dead... WTF???????

So one guy decides to run around the wood to get ammo and turns to me. I had just reloaded again, so I shot once flush to the chest. I get head shot by his pistol as he had run out of ammo in his primary while I was trying to align up the perfect shot.

He had 100% health when I died.

So what do you do in situations like this? I either quit the server, kick my modem, or come back as assault with the extra grenades perk and lob those the rest of the match. Got to have something to do when your shots just don't register.

Thank God, that would be a terrible design choice for a BF game.

No kidding, its bad enough now being sniped out of a helicopter when your waiting for the engines to get up to speed and pick you up off the ground, imagine adding even more predictable motions to it.

Unless there was some sort of immunity during the animation until you're in/out of the vehicle. But, I think we can overlook the animation for game play purposes.

No. The truth is that nobody really knows the answer to this except for EA and Valve.

It couldn't be all bad! Animations would certainly discourage the frustrating and lame tactic of running and bunny hopping towards a vehicle and within 5ft of it disappearing into safety. I do that all the time, knowing that the shitty hit register of the game will allow me to probably take the vehicle, thus removing any strategy or consideration of circumstances.

It could have had the effect of slowing the game down a bit. Anything that makes it less of a run-and-gun clusterfuck like BC2 is welcome to me!

a valid point, i just think i'd rather see that situation countered by decreased stamina like in the bf2 1.5 patch (having almost no stamina by your second bhop after running) rather than an actual enter/exit animation.

I'm absolutely stoked for this game. I've got my preorder down with the egg.

Only problem there is no stamina limit. From what we know right now sprinting and bunny hopping will not be hindered in any way.
