M-M-M-M-MONSTER FIXED

I hope people who say "stop bitching and take whatever a publisher shovels on to your plate" remember this day.

Next up: LAN and mod tools.

Not fixed at all. DICE have always released their paid-for content for free. Armoured Fury, Euro Forces, whatever the 2142 one was, the BC2 pre-order vehicle armour perk/garand/thompson/1911 - everything has been unlocked later for free. This announcement has precisely dick to do with all the petulant whining.

The BC2 preorder shit was always released. It was simply instantly unlocked when you started the game for the people who had preordered instead of have to level to get the items like everyone else. The garand (essentially a reskin of the M14) you had to own two previous battlefield games and I don't think they changed that, correct me if I'm wrong.

Armoured Fury and Euro Forces were made freely available 3 YEARS after they were first released! It was hardly DICE and EA's intention that they would eventually be free, more like the servers were dead and they wanted people to keep playing

I am also yet to find any evidence that the booster pack for BF2142 has been made free, and as someone else has pointed out the pre-order DLC for BC2 simply gave people instant unlocks as opposed to exclusive weapons/perks.

But good job mocking people who have every right to express concerns over a product they are paying for.

to all who wined about the DLC pack, take a look at the link. Dont mind if i say i told you so.

Utter bullshit, if that was ACTUALLY their intention all along then why did they not simply state this in their earlier blog update posted on 13 June 2011 in direct response to the complaints which had been raised!?

Timed exclusive my ass...its called damage control.

they probably had to get EA's permission to announce it because its going to hurt EA's bottom line. now less people are going to pre-order knowing they will get all the stuff for free a couple weeks later. also people won't pay the 10 bucks or what ever they wanted to charge for the DLC for those that didn't pre-order but want the DLC content on release day.

now that i know i'm sure as heck not pre-ordering. i can't afford to lock my money up until october 25th. i'll just buy it on release day at the store and wait for the DLC to go up for free a couple weeks later.

yes the booster pack in 2142 was made free for almost 9 months(when the 1.5 beta update was released). i think they just ended that but there aren't enough players playing now for it to matter. and yes the pre-order DLC was the unlock for the M1 grand and thompson. stupid pre-order thing since the grand sucks in game but the thompsons a friggin beast.

all you have to do is call in and say its not linking your other Battlefield games and they will add all of them to your account which will unlock the M1 grand. they don't even validate the information or anything.

I think DICE find ways to deliver the content regardless of how EA tries to bind them. You can get the garand by applying for online help and just saying "yeah, I have these two games" and they don't bother to ask for any evidence. It's pretty much an unofficial policy that they give it to anyone that can be bothered to ask. I wouldn't be surprised if DICE had been working on a way to deliver the warfare pack for free from the outset, if they couldn't convince EA to drop the idea altogether.

Yeah, that makes no sense. Why would there be any financial incentive for them to release their content for free to ensure people keep playing an older game when they already had other IPs out that would benefit from those players/sales?

Also, if you think my post was mocking anyone you are mistaken. I was critical of the petulant approach adopted by the reactionaries, not their views.

I hope this game has decent length single player.

It will be approx 12 hours.

What I would like to know is will the pc version have 360 controller support? I sure hope so. I have Pinnacle but built in support always works better. Oh and before someone says "you would get killed online using a controller", I don't care because I am an offline single player campaign gamer. I could care less about online. I am perfectly capable of using k\m, it's just very uncomfortable compared to using a controller for playing 2+ hours at a time.

Or just play the free Battlefield Heroes for a bit. That also worked.

Battlefield offline? What in the hell?

Battlefield offline? What in the hell?

way back I used to play BF2 at work with no internet connection, I used to hide under the fountain in operation smoke screen map so the bots would all gather around it without being able to kill me :D

I noticed in that Jimmy Fallon clip, it looks like they finally made the bolt catch on the M4 work how it should. Hopefully they follow suit with the rest of the weapons in BF3 :D

The first video on this page, of live Off Duty Gamers' E3 coverage, at 1:14:43, there is a guy playing BF3 on a PC using a controller.

+1 for wanting native 360 controller for single player. I also like to use the controller and mouse combo.

Funny how the Jimmy Fallon show dedicated almost twice or more the amount of time playing COD vs. playing BF3.

Also, playing PC games with a console controller... somewhere here there is a disconnect.

Same reason a lot of developers eventually makes their content freeware, it keeps their IP's relevant. What's more, what other IP's does EA have that are remotely similar to the BF franchise?

Do you think they would rather people have moved on to the next version of CoD, rather than keeping them hooked on BF until they could shove the next version out the door?

After watching the terrible PC gaming skills of the people playing BF3 at E3 on Ustream, I think letting them using controllers would probably be a good thing. That Respawn guy...he responded to three enemies in front of him by jumping up and down on the spot. Those same three enemies took forever to realise the jumping twat was their enemy before they eventually got around to shooting him.

Yeah...TF2 would probably have been a ghost town for years by now if it hadn't been for regular free content.

It keeps games out of the bargain bins longer if people are still playing it.

With all these graphics and sound, all I Want is:
WORLD WAR 2 EXPANSION PACK !!!!!

imagine destructable Carantean and snowy Bastogne or Market-Garden operation.

btw... I cant understand people winning about this game, keep praising BF2....comon is 2011 time to moved forward..... you dont play shooters with health-boxes anymore...

Swings and roundabouts. You can never say that with any degree of certainty, since it depends on more than updates - CS hasnt been updated in years and it's still #1. The primary deciding factor seems to be whether or not it's a good game with a stable community. The option to mod helps as well.

There are also people like me that have stopped playing TF2 since all the silly updates took the game from being great to being mundane, so like I said, there's more to it than just releasing free shit.

Nah, Let them do some modern DLC expansions. Lets make the next full game a WW2 game again. BF 1944. FB 2.0(or 2.5 at that point) would be so tasty in the european theatre.
If they make a DLC it will have limited weapons, vehicles, and maps like the BC2 vietnam. Don't get me wrong BC2V was awesome, it just doesn't have enough of content in it to keep it as continually interesting as a full game.

What about... bear with me... Battlefield with swords?!

No really, imagine a game like TES using Frostbite 2.0

If you guys are looking for a WW2 game in general then check out Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad.

It's team based objective like BF. Big maps, vehicles (granted no aircraft), commander, squad leader, and a ton of features.

I think it comes out around August, so a good game to play until BF3 releases.

Uh, so hitting stone buildings with a sword and nothing happening? Chopping branches off trees as you run from one quest to the next?

At this point I'm actually missing WW2 theater........
I mean Multi, don't care about single. Last ww2 multi I've enjoyed was World at War, and I'm not a fan of COD series............

All titles now are MODERN or Sci-fi.
If I had to chose obviously i do prefer FULL ww2 game, them dlc for bf3.

Its because modern video gamers are nothing more than dimwit thumbmonkeys. Why think when you can just move two thumbs and stare mindlessly into your TV not realizing you've payed $60 again for the same Fucking piece of shit?

It would be awesome if this game was controller only for PC. Controllers are just so much more comfortable to use. Analog sticks do kind of suck at times but controllers like the Wiimote, and the PS Move seem ideal for FPS games.

Go away.

You want to use some sort of alternate controller, be my guest, but don't fuck with my mouse and keyboard.
