No, there are multiple plugins for ProCon for autobalancing.

The 4 most popular are:

Team Balance on Death: balances team based on next few people to die.

Team Balance Plugin: Same as above, but allows you to exclude splitting up clan members.

True Balancer: Most stable and most used of the balancers. Allows message to be flashed on screen or in chat. Allows whitelist of players not to be moved. Autobalances based on last person to join the team.

Insane Balancer: Balances on the fly based on your choice of criteria such as rank, score per minute, kill/death ratios, career points, round score. Allows message to be flashed on screen or in chat. Can also scramble teams per X rounds. Can keep clans and squads together or break them apart. Unstable and never left beta. Some servers have got it to work well, I have not. Has other issues such as losing tickets for attacking rush team when auto scramble is done at beginning of round.

I have tried every one of these. The only one that works on a consistent basis is the True Balancer with Insane Balancer a distant second.

the true balancer is garbage.. it never moves the last person that joined, it always moves a random person. i've lost count how many times its moved me when i'm the first one to spawn in the game fly all the way out to B on heavy metal and cap it only to get team changed right after i capped it. obviously i wasn't the last person to join the server either. i've also noticed it will lock onto some one and always balances that one person every time the teams go uneven instead of balancing the last person that joined.

Man this is going to be so awesome, I can hardly wait.

Some more news for PC gamers!

Curse.com has helped Enterbf3 get the community's Battlefield 3 questions answered. A few days ago we asked you to submit your Battlefield 3 concerns and ideas to get them answered. Curse.com staff went ahead and interviewed Kevin O'Leary, EA's Product Manager. Here's what we received:

Q: What can we expect for PC requirements to run BF3?
A: We’d love to tell you, but we’re not quite ready to release minimum specs just yet. I can tell you that the specs will not be anything crazy or Crysis-like. More details to come.

Q: Will we see the command rose or something similar?
A: That’s a good question! We do offer a lot of set up and customization on the PC for people to decide how they want to play. I’m not exactly sure how we’ll be doing the command rose.

Q: Will there be a server browser for consoles?
A: There will not be a server browser for consoles. We just recently announced "battle log" which is PC based but it’s a really friendly community tool. It allows you to branch out with friends and set up and join private matches. It’s also great for E-Sports, if you’re playing competitively, because it’s going to work with MLG and ESL and all those partners. So you’ll be able to authenticate matches without having to take screenshots and all that kind of stuff because the data feed is going to be encrypted and secure and be sent to them.

Q: How many weapon customizations can be expected?
A: Thousands! Probably tens or hundreds of thousands. This is the biggest battlefield we’ve ever made so the customization is huge and open. There’s three slots on every weapon so you can clip things on like a flashlight or flash suppressor, tons and tons of things. Optics… I can’t even believe how many optics they’ve gotten into the game.

Q: Will there be day and night cycles in multiplayer and if so how will they work?
A: Not so much cycles, instead we have day and night maps.

Today also marks the last day of E3, a lot has been uncovered about BF3, and this is more to add to the list! Also revealed is that jets will not be available in TDM and Rush modes. The maps simply are not large enough for jets, the jets will be in Conquest though. We'll have more post E3 coverage of Battlefield 3 in the coming days.

I liked to play as a commander and follow orders of a commander in BF2142. I REALLY liked it. It gives possibilities to win in situations, that otherwise seems to be impossible to win.

I pray for commander feature in BF3.

It is a beautiful thing when good players give and take orders. Squads reduce the solo rambo quotient, and the next logical progression is a commander.

It was always fun to have a commander send you to a ripe target and then support you with UAV and arty. Smells like victory.

I always liked to give an order to squad and then listen answers from squad members. I mean it really tells you whether squad is going to follow you or not.

God his voice is awesome.

I want more info! lol I wish they could release the prealpha gameplay as a small demo. Like if the E3 level could leak

ughhh, mp looks just like BC2. looks like i will still be playing BF2.

As pointed out in that video, they really need to fix how weapon sights behave. There are people yelling about how they don't want any COD-like features, yet we still have this sort of global magnification going on.

DICE need to get some pointers from Tripwire:

That is the first disappointing element in this game I have seen.

If the code isn´t world class maybe rendering two cameras (such as in the Tripwire shot) could produce some latency issues that they are trying to avoid? I am no real time engine programmer, just wondering if that could play a role. It sure looks silly to have the whole view zoomed like that.

Then again Tripwire do not get it right either, since there is no way for the human eye to focus on both subjects at the same time; what is seen inside the scope and the outside surroundings. As a result of this a DOF masks should be set up for scoped use, that would be the way to do it right.

There aren't lag issues in RO with scopes, not sure how exactly they render it though. I think the lack of DOF though is just an engine limitation, remember this came out in 06'.

Also forgot to mention, if DICE do in fact fix this, ironsights should have no zoom when initiated. As in, the FOV you have when on-hip, should be the same as when you raise the rifle - your vision doesn't zoom in real life. :p

These are some of the key changes to the fundamental mechanics that will be needed to make BF3 "the best FPS yet" rather than just another improved iteration.

Found a very decent cam capture of someone playing MP at E3 for nearly 8 minutes:

The lighting is unreal, take a look at how the light emitted from the rifle attachment bends and molds according to the distance and angle from the wall at 5:14.

It would be very nice if they fixed this.

DOF wasn´t a real time engine technology limitation in 2006, just too computation heavy for most devs to be interested in at that point, which of course is a practical limitation to some extend. From the top of my head I can only think of Crysis using DOF around this time (2007).

Nice comparison. Funny to see the ages that view it including the view counts. If or when battlefield dominates the fps genre.. What's gonna have tto come out to take it out of #1. Lol battlefield 4?:)

To be fair, you should be using the official COD channel, since you are using the official BF one.

it's not mine but you're right who made it was looking for the worst example.
another one from the official channels

You could probably argue for the slight zoom when aiming down the sights by saying that your character's concentration on aim is much higher when deliberately aiming down the sights so you get a better view on target, which also explains why the FOV becomes smaller in ADS-mode to factor in tunnel-vision from not taking in anything from your peripheral vision.

Depressing how many more views MW3 has over BF3, however on the bright side, MW3 like:dislike ratio is 7.8 to 1 where as BF3 is 31.3 to 1.

Battlefield 3 - Tessellation ? :(

I don't think they've said for sure (actually they did, see below), but someone did comment that it looked like the mountains were tesselated and I agree. It would be pretty silly of them to make a DX11 game and not use the main DX11 feature though.

Here's the screenshot in question: http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetba...mages/news3/Battlefield_3_Screenshots_091.jpg - they'd pretty much have to be using tesselation to get that, I would think.

This document I have in google docs talks about use of tesselation in BF3 on round objects like wheels and rocks/mountains: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...OTYyYy00ZjU3LWFiZTItOGIxM2ZlZjZlNWVk&hl=en_US

Interesting read I think, though it seems a bit heavy on the AMD propaganda in places (duh, its an AMD article)

Battlefield 3 - Tessellation ? :(

yes, it uses it.
