friggin awesome video. was cool hearing about how acurate they were to the real thing and the various other things you don't typically notice when watching the trailer.

It's going to be a great game but ...all this "analysis" on screenshots and videos...some of you nerds really need to get a life.

Nothing wrong with enjoying a hobby, maybe you should take a chill pill, nobody's forcing you to watch the videos or read this thread.

Maybe you should take your own advice there champ, rather than trolling people who are actually enjoying the anticipation for a videogame for a change.

I think it looks like bc2...on crack. not bf3 :(

Though I agree the game does look similar to BC2 graphically, the introduction of BF2 style elements, large landscapes, planes, more vehicles, etc. should make the game more BF2-esque. Nothing can compare to BF2 (imo), but this should be pretty darn close.

Well, i dont see all the DLC being a huge advantage for anyone. Just extra shit that the consumer can purchase to add to the gameplay. Never was a fan of the T88 LMG, the DAO is nothing more than a noob shottie. Flechettes sound fairly cool, but really nothing different than standard buckshot in game. and the Suppresor will probably have little impact for the sniper.

Id prefer a solid carbine with excellent iron sights personally. I get the feeling thats going to already be in game.

Of course all that shit means nothing when your getting bombed by a jet. :D

Except you will never get to use any of those guns unless you preorder anyways which, honestly, is a huge fucking turn off from this game.

Done in plenty of other games, I can guarantee the t88 (who used that in bc2?) will have the same exact stats as another lmg. Flachette has less damage than buckshot but can penetrate wood and flimsy materials, and I really doubt there is just one flash suppressor. The USA content pack hasn't been announced yet either. The reason for these exclusive packs is because you are giving EA $60 dollars right now and not $20 on a sale next year.

There seems to be some confusion, the DAO-12 is not exclusive, they give you a day one access to the unlock.

looks like DICE is working with reddit to nip this crap in the butt on the DLC content EA is trying to force on them. they have all the links needed to send in letters to EA to make them change this crap.

good luck.

just because the gun wasn't really used in BC2 or flachette ammo isn't that good is besides the point. EA is trying to milk BF3 for every dime its worth and these stupid region only pre-order DLC content is stupid. odd's are the US pack will have unique unlocks on the tanks which is just stupid. this isn't what DICE intended with the pre-order/DLC content. If EA was smart and actually trying to compete with activision/COD the DLC content would be free which would pressure COD to do the same and if they didn't people would jump ship pretty damn quickly.

http://www.destructoid.com/e3-battlefield-3-s-multiplayer-left-me-with-goosebumps-203591.phtml

Jim Sterling thought I had seen a ghost or something when I ran into him on my way back to the press room at E3. What actually left the look of shock on my face was that I just got hands-on with Battlefield 3's multiplayer. I only got about fifteen minutes of action, but it was enough to blow my mind.

You guys. Battlefield 3 is f*cking amazing!

DICE threw us on a slowly expanding map set in downtown Paris in Rush mode. I was on the attackers side and my team had to arm and destroy two key points in each section of the level, the first of which was in a park. All of the outside portions where surrounded by buildings and showed off the dense urban environments DICE is pushing hard. The Frostbite 2 engine is a powerful beast and I don't expect we'll be seeing the many open and blank environments we're used to in past Battlefield games.

While I didn't witness this in my playthrough, facade destruction will be a big part of the urban combat. Players can hide on different floors of a building utilizing the many cover opportunities. The cover can be destroyed to expose enemies though and the falling pieces of the building can even kill anyone unlucky enough to be on the streets below.

The lighting system has been improved immensely as well and I got a good example of it in the second portion of the level in the subway system. The lights in the subway tunnel can be shot up so you're completely in the dark and hard to spot. Alternatively, I got to see how the Engineer class utilizes the light attached on his gun to blind other players by shining it right into their eyes.

Speaking of classes, each one has gone through a change, some of which was based on feedback right from the community. The biggest change is the fusion between the medic and assault roles. The Combat Medic has the same assault traits, but can now pack medic features such as first aid kits and shock paddles to revive downed players.

The Engineer class still can fix and repair vehicles and the sniper class can now hold his breath for a few seconds while trying to take the shot. The counter to that though is that the sniper will sway heavily for a few seconds as he catches his breath.

The biggest, and coolest change, in my opinion, is with the Support class. You can now deploy a bipod on the heavy machine gun on various surface for increased stability. Alternatively, players can go prone for better accuracy with any weapon. That's not that cool part. The cool part is that players will now get points for laying down suppressing fire. Shooting at the general direction of an enemy is always key, but now you'll get rewarded with points for it. Plus affected players by the suppressing fire will see their screen dim and shake.

Dog tags are getting a little revamp as well and will be customizable with sayings and different designs. The tags appear on a players screen after you killed them to add insult to injury.

I played through as the Combat Medic, Support and Engineer class and each one was just awesome. I sadly didn't have time to get into it as the Sniper, probably for the best as I abuse that class anyway. I need to play a lot more than just one simple round to get a real feel for Battlefield 3, but the the shock and awe I experienced was just enough to hold me over until the October release.

That reminds me, I should start looking into upgrading my computer. No way am I playing Battlefield 3 on a console.

Destructoid's journalists are generally console fanboys, so it is quite interesting to see one of them making this statement.

I bought Bad Company 2 for both PC and PS3; doing the same for Battlefield 3. I enjoy Battlefield games so much that I'm willing to buy the game twice. :)

I've noticed some of the Youtube console Bad Company 2 commentators have gone and bought themselves decent PCs in preparation for BF3. It could happen.

Also realized they have the moron (COD) version of ammo counts and reloading.

It was the same in BC2. I can understand why they moved away from the traditional BF ammo reloading scheme, it adds an extra layer of complexity and strategy which can be daunting for noobies to come to grips with, and severely limits the ability to run and gun.

It has its pros and cons, but maybe it is something that should be in HC or a server side option.

I can understand as well, and agree. Its for complete idiots and yet another reason why I stopped playing BC2. If BF3 has any degree of run & gun like COD, I will save my money.

How is this in any way what BF3 is supposed to be? It's completely useless of them to go out of their way to get the rest of things accurate and realistic, and then have this type of weapon behavior. I think they should have actually taken BF2 behavior a step further, and - as I stated previously - taken a tip from Tripwire and what they did with RO.

Only a few people will ever be able to get any of those weapons. Unless they are just useless novelties (Like the M1 Grand in BC2) there are almost certainly going to be balance issues that will ruin the game. And really, even if they are made relatively less useful, (Which judging by the weapons descriptions, they won't be) people will perceive it as so. It will quickly kill off MP interest among the people who do buy it.

1) Type 88 LMG isn't anything amazing or good. Its the starter LMG in BC2.
2) Flash Suppressor sounds good on paper, but throw in 3D Spotting and its as useless as the silencers on Engineer carbines in BC2.
3) Fletteche is ok, but it does less damage than normal ammo.
4) DAO shotgun is good for spam until you run out of ammo, but its not an exclusive weapon its only day one access.

As a BF:V, BF2, BF2142, BFBC, BF1943, and BFBC2 player I would rate the Physical Warfare pack as utterly useless. If people want it so bad I'll even sell them my Physical Warfare pack if they happen to offer it with w/e retailer I'm buying BF3 from in the US.

The real value of preordering BF3 is Back to Karkand Expansion. Especially if your a fan of BF2. I spent 90 hours playing on Wake Island 2007. Strike at Karkand can go to the nade spammers (to not discourage anyone, this only happens at the start of the map). I'll take my horseshoe island that lets you play with every vehicle in the game: land, sea, and air.

Which also makes me hope they add in an infantry only server option. There are just times when I don't want to duck for cover from aircraft or tanks running me over because I'm not the right class :D

==========

On another note, I would love to see a game with RO2 mechanics in Frostbite engine. They added suppression and bi-pods to BF3, lets add some more features from RO :D

Yeah! Screw waiting for reviews to see whether the game is worth spending your hard earned money on! If you don't like it you can always sell your copy...uh wait no. Or you could return it...umm no that doesn't work either. At least you are not paying an arbitrary over inflated retail price...:rolleyes:

Covers a lot whole lot of territory here.

This is my point. They reward people for taking a plunge. Don't want to take that plunge? Then it looks like you don't get exclusive items. Just like CE mmo items IE Warhammer online trophies.

Some things you take a very calculated small risk with in life guys. I know I know if you burn 50 bucks it really sucks since we don't burn money on anything in life. I mean shit really? You guys really feel preordering a Battlefield game from Dice with their track record is taking a chance without a review first?

At this point if you don't know what Dice and battlefield is about then I don't know what to tell you, seriously.

Planet Battlefield: Battlefield 3 @ E3 2011
  • Re-confirms spawning on Squad Leader only (also heard the game chooses squad leader dynamically, not sure on this one)
  • Re-confirms you need to hold down fire button to initiate revive animation. Can't just single left click anymore.
  • Re-confirms quick knife and equip knife. Knife swipes to the front aren't 1 hit kill and knife from the back is an animated kill. Thank god these guys played Counter Strike (it was the only game that ever did melee right).

Guess it depends on where you get it from. As has been said plenty of times before, a pre-order even with all of the bonus content is usually cheaper retail than from a digital delivery service. And I've never had a problem returning opened games either.

All i know is yes i dont like DLC idea but its not a game breaker. theirs far too many pro's then cons about this game at this state

thanks for the heads-up, I hope spawning on squad Leader only won't lower the speed and intense of the game like when having a couple of campers or snipers in a BC2 squad.

At least in BF3 you can hope 3 squad members won't spawn on top of the guy you are shooting and rape you to death.
