And another annoying thing...Why do I have to respawn in a game in order to be able to exit the game.

I have my own theory on this one. It happens that after being killed and waiting for respawn I want to exit the game and uninstall it because I play to much. But there is no exit option. So, I respawn and think "Hmmm, why not to play a bit more." So, I continue playing.

If it does, I've never experienced in Hard Core.

its a glitch.. sometimes you can exit without spawning and sometimes you can't. not that it matters if you spawn. it doesn't cost you a death nor the team a ticket.

If you die and press Esc before you can choose your kit you can leave, if you wait for that then leaving is locked. It's for what almalino said, it stops rage quitters quitting.

I want to be able to turn off friendly fire in hardcore mode so that I could plant C4 on a the bottom of a tank and launch it into the air or do C4 jumps onto normally inacessble areas.

Be real man... All you need is to put it on your uav and your set.

Be realistic already... :(

Anyone else hoping when they get done with BF3 they take the engine and make a proper BF1942 sequel?

It's funny to read on console forums that those guys want something similar to BC2 from BF3.

He has to say that considering they're making a scripted SP experience. I can't disagree completely with that statement but I think it's irrelevant since most everyone wants BF3 for the MP experience.

twitter.com/TanteEmma: "German gamestar magazine with poll about #bf3 singleplayer: Over 40 % won't buy the game without SP campaign. Umfragen - Gamestar.de

graph.cfm

40.6% - I think very well. Without a single player campaign, I would not buy it.
39.8% - A solo mode is good, but not important for my purchase decision.
7.7 % - I think not so good. Hopefully it will not save at the Play mode.
6.4% -- Bad decision. The multiplayer mode is the core of Battlefield. Everything else is useless.
5.4% --The Battlefield series does not interest me - whether with or without solo campaign.

I would be happy if they just make flying Helo's as hard as it was in BF1942 Desert Combat Mod. I doubt that will happen because people now a days just want to be able to get in and fly with no practice. It was fun back then watching a noob jump in the Helo, and it would just go straight up in the air and flip over and crash, to funny.

If I'm not mistaken that is where the DICE guys got there start with EA, by making that Mod.

Desert Combat...back in college my roomate and I spent probably 6-8 hrs one Saturday just going through a helo bootcamp. We were both set up with HOTAS, jumped into an empty server and crashed over and over and over.

I forget the map but it had a river running along one side of the map with nice high banks. We'd each take a helo, and once we finally got the hang of lifting off without flipping over, used the river to practice maneuvering.

The skill involved made it that much more satisfying to fly the things. I was never good enough to come to a hover over the water to pick up people like I'd seen in some videos, but I was pretty damn pleased with myself when I could make a Hydra pass on a tank and not nose plant into the ground!

Ah, nostalgia.

The Desert Combat team (Trauma Studios) got their start making a mod for the DICE game BF1942. From there, they were bought by EA to work on the design of BF2. After that, they went their seperate ways and founded Kaos Studios, the team behind Frontlines: Fuel of War, and Homefront.

You are mistaken, the desert combat mod was developed by Trauma Studios who were bought out by DICE to help with BF2 but were then closed down. They have since formed Kaos Studios.

Tell em to wait for BC3.

Is it any wonder gaming feels so stale when people just want the same rehashed shit over and over again. :(

battlefield has always been about large scale matches, not scripted single player missions. If they want to add that in, fine but the #1 priority needs to be a well polished multiplayer mode.

i agree, i'd be happy if they did it similar to BF2; SP = nothing more than MP maps with bots. if they happen to crank out both an excellent MP and an excellent SP, all the better.

I absolutely hate who some maps in BC2 seem so unbalanced with the helicopters.

I hope BF3 is more balanced w/ the helos. they can really make a match frustrating.

Yeah man those were the days. I was so proud of myself when I finally got to the point where I could fly well enough to hold my own in multiplayer. I played the hell out of that game for like 2 years. We and some friends got pretty good, but still my favorite part was flying the helo's. There was a couple maps with rivers in them so not sure which map that was.

I tried loading it up again on my new system but it doesn't see the joystick and some other small things don't work anymore, but the whole reason I loaded it up was to fly the Helo's so the other problem didn't matter.

GullyFoyle and defiant007 thanks for the correction.

The 24 player limit on the console version of BF3 almost forces it. Conquest just can't reach the same level of intensity and scale without more players and ends up feeling more like musical chairs. I always felt BF2 was best with 40 - 50 players, just before it added the extra couple of flags. That would throw off the balance, despite the extra players in a 60 match.

Rush is a way to force what can and does happen at any given flagpoint in a BF2 conquest match, with lower player counts. I hope it returns in BF3, because its a great mode in its own right. But the console versions will also need it.

Has anyone got any idea as to how much the BF3 servers are going to cost per slot?

Most of the current BF2 servers I've seen are $2/slot ($120 for 64 players), and the BC2 servers are at $1.50 per slot ($48 for 32 players).

Duh! Consolers think Black Ops is a GREAT game. They wouldn't know a great game if it slapped them across the face.

BF2 is what got me to finally give up PC gaming, i realized there was nothing in the pipe quite like DC and DC was pretty much dead. BFBC2 brought me back and I've pre-ordered BF3.

im the other way around. I made a few friends playing BF2 and we have since played several games online. We now play bfbc2 after 5 years of gaming together. Its fun, probably the only reason I still game. So for me, bf2 kept me with PC gaming.

Than get good at taking them down. I'll admit its frustrated to see my tracer land only to have them pop smoke, its hard when they are raping the map too. But sooooo rewarding when I do eventually take them out

+1

BF has always been about the multiplayer, and that should absolutely be their biggest focus.

Certainly, I'm all for them creating a truly excellent SP experience as well, but that's not what people are playing the BF series for... they're in it for the MP.

I hope the grappling hook is back. I would like to grapple onto a helicopter or a jet. I'd also like to see destructible air craft carriers.

The Vietnam DLC is the best part of BC2, no lie. It's honestly like Battlefield 2.5. Unlike the base game, you can actually inflict damage with small-arms fire on choppers. Also unlike the base game, jeeps are armed with machine guns, not useless mortar (seriously what retard dreamed that up?). In short, coordinated fire can repel or destroy most choppers most of the time.

Apart from that, Vietnam has wide open, sprawling maps, in contrast to the base game's smaller, hemmed-in, or bottlenecked maps. It also looks better and runs better. It's superior all around, and I'm saying that even though I miss the futuristic motion sensors and better weapons.

If I can shoot bits of buildings with my sniper rifle, then I should be able to shoot out tires of small vehicles.

They're going head to head will Call of Duty which means a serious single player campaign. Why that is a bad thing? They can and will do both. The single player is a fine way to show off the engine and the technology. They are just teasing at this point.

HOWEVER, I am tempering my expectations on this one.

I'm not a masochist gamer, so I prefer to be able to take them down in a reasonable amount of time. I don't want "POP UR DED", but I also don't want them "raping the map".
