Like someone else said, let wake island die already.

Wake is without question the best map ever in the Battlefield series. Signed, Jet Pilot.

Seriously though, I am happy they are getting rid of the Commander. I loved 1942, BF2 and BF:BC2... Each game has a lot of terrific ideas. I like gun combat in BC2 much more than the previous BF titles. I miss Jets like crazy mostly because I have hated helicopters forever. I can't wait to destroy choppers and carpet bomb again. I love the tanks in BC2. For the first time ever I enjoy sniping. I just hit level 33 and I'm trying to get all the awards (PC). I have done all the unlocks and pins. BC2 is terrific, looking forward to BF3. I'm angry they are bringing Prone back, dolphin diving is retarded and needs to disappear.

I hated 2142 for about 100 different reasons. I tried really hard to enjoy it but I just couldn't.

I wonder if this game will require insane amounts of ram like BF2 did? When BF2 came out it used 1.3gbs of ram in an era when most people had 2gbs max. If it's anything like BC2 then BF3 will require a very fast CPU. The difference from my C2D E8400 and my I5 2500k was staggering. I was definitely CPU limited even with a Radeon 4890. I have since moved to the 6950 and it runs beautifully.

My favorite thing about BF3... It will be designed for widescreen monitors out of the box! Remember the retarded widescreen cropping BF2 had!?!? Drove me crazy.

I am literally going to have to dust off my joystick... I bought it for BF2 and haven't used it since.

And this is why it blows. I got sick and tired of jets deciding games. AA guns - certainly the missile launchers were useless. An F-18 could bomb them out of existance right away. The only fun I saw in jets was C4ing them, waiting for them to take off then blowing them up and taunting the dead pilot.

BF2 failed for the reason that people sat there waiting for the jet to spawn. Sometimes you got a retard in the jet, sometimes you got someone good...no matter what though, it sucked for ground forces.

Worse yet, the J10 was overpowered.

in an interview the dev's did they talked about the prone issues from other games and that they are working on the animation with the prone so shit like the dolphin proning shouldn't be possible. i agree thats the one thing thats pissed me off and its fucking horrible on the COD games where you see the persons animation proning but the person proning doesn't see that same effect. hopefully the dev's force is so that what you see them doing is the same thing they are doing.

so for example the person prones the person loses the ability to use their gun until they are completely proned and only then can they start firing.

What about the beta ? There's no freaking way i'm preordering @ full price without playing a bit first, i did the same stupid thing with black ops and still regret it.

Need more beta's

Just dropped $50 on the pile of steaming shit that is Homefront and im VERY upset about it.

Add accuracy drops when you just entered the new state - just went prone, make it take a second to bring up the sights...same for when you stand.

Some good ideas for people wanting realism, but this is a game. I think if DICE adopted all these suggestions the gameplay would be way too slow and thus, a bit on the boring side. Good idea's in theory don't always work out well in practice.

Go play UT99 then. :)

I DO want things more controlled, less chaos. Less bullshit bunny hopping/dolphin diving. You shouldn't get extra points for bullshit like that. That isn't skill, it's an exploit. It's frustrating, and as such..it's not fun. I'm not asking they make the new America's Army...but some amount of realism would be appreciated.

I'd rather play a fun BF3. If ever action/re-action takes a full 2 seconds to complete which is what would happen with some of these suggestions the game would quite simply, suck.

I don't think dolphin-diving will be such an issue if you are actually able to hit a target while you're standing up and having to go prone to get any accuracy with automatic weapons. Bullet-spread in BF2 is truly ridiculous.

Let's remove the need to reload then. Or again, you can play UT99 or COD or some other deathmatch game.

Also, bullet spread in BC2 I think is just as bad when not crouching?

Bullets generally go in the direction that the gun is pointed in BFBC2, not in 90-degree angles like in BF2.

Crouching only gives the LMGs a slight accuracy boost - according to the stat sheets, there is no accuracy boost for the other weapon classes between standing and crouching.

Was that the same or fixed in 2142?

Also, how much is due to server lag? I know often in BC2 server lag just seems to make everything unbearable (stopped playing after the millionth "I killed him...then he killed me while dead" crap that I see at least 5 times per round.) If BF3 is anything like BC2, it'll be a huge letdown...

Thinking of 2142, I need to install it again. I loved titan mode!

Making retarded statements isn't helping your case.

I can play UT99, I can play COD, and I can and will play BF3. Why? Becuase I already know it won't have the things you want in it. I'm excited about BF3 becuase it's a BF game, and I'd like for it to play as such. Since it's you who want to completely change the dynamics of the game, i'd say it's you who needs to look at playing other games.

Not anymore :). I finally made the jump to broadband last year, but for a good while I was [H]'s resident dialup warrior.

If you go into singleplayer in BF2, you'll see that the bullet-spread with the automatic weapons is still prevalent. I think it was partly improved in 2142 though.

You're in Tasmania right? God I don't think I could have lasted that long without broadband. It was bad enough being on dial up in the late 90's when the rest of the world had 100mbit connections, but to be stuck on it until 2010?!

Netspace came to my rescue - nearly all other ADSL plans fetch an extra $10 or $20 a month than their do on the mainland, due to Telstra owning the Tasmania-to-mainland (yes I call it mainland :p) phone lines and charging other ISPs a lot to use them. Netspace and Internode both have ADSL2 here now so (as I understand) they aren't reliant on Telstra's infrastructure.

On topic, Battlefield 3 will be awesome.

Pretty awesome.

We can now see the "fish-eye" effect...it looks like the game is trying to simulate eyes squinting as the player flinches from the nearby shot.

Try it yourself - squint...the peripherals get blurry.

Ya.....I really hope you can turn that off...imagine playing online with 32 other people shooting in your direction...you'd be stuck tunnel visioning the entire time...

Beyond that...fucking...incredible....

Talks about clearing backblast...wonder if they will be intergrating backblast damage into the game, that would be pretty cool though I could easily see room for tons of FF.

Edit: After some thought, your almost permanently squinting in a desert locale cause its so damn hot and bright anyways, so hopefully thats not what its based off of...

Could just be a single-player thing, but yeah I'm sure if there isn't an offical option for turning it off, someone will work out a way to do it.

Far Cry 2 implemented RPG backblast (any grass behind you would catch alight and the immediate area would quickly go up in flames), so it's not impossible to expect it may have effect in BF3 and other games.

Sweet....did players take damage in multiplayer from it if FF was on? Though technically, if you fire a rocket like the AT-4 in a small room, you would kill everyone inside the room...doubt they will intergrate that...would be cool if the room took some sort of damage though.

I'm not entirely sure if the actual blast did any damage, my time with Far Cry 2's multiplayer wasn't extensive (it wasn't bad but not a lot of people in my area playing it at any one time), but I do know they'd take damage from the fire resulting from the blast which was fairly immediate.

One of my favorite things about BC2 is the stationary weapons. The AA guns are amazing and do a pile of damage. I've taken out a lot of Helos with the Homing missiles too. I actually think that the helo is perfectly balanced in BC2. In BF2 the helos are way too powerful on any map that doesn't have jets to keep them in check. I sincerely hope they make the AA in BF3 a little more powerful and make tanks similar to BC2.

I can't get over how awesome the animations are. So pumped for this game.

With all the graphic advances the industry has made over the years, its never really had a major leap in walking and transition animations in the same way so even if this game had graphics that were just above BC2, we'd all be pretty impressed with these kinds of animations. I will be curious to see how they handle being next to a ledge...will we still have that glass ledge effect or will characters actually stop at the edge...be able to lean over and see straight down kind of stuff.

Fish eye effect is pretty cool but definitely need to see a firefight type of deal for me to determine if I will turn it off (if you can, even). I liked that video. I really think that was the most horrible sniper ever though.

Looks good, the only thing I don't like is how the suns reflection off the buildings washes everything out...or Is it just me being picky.

I get chills every time I hear that muddled BF3 tune at the end of these videos. That makes me a geek and I'm ok with that.

Animations look so fluid. I hope that translates into the MP side.

I'm ok with that blur/fish-eye thing if it's only from a .50 cal sniper round that hits objects near you. As long as they keep that effect limited I think it'll add to the fun.

yep same here. i realize it's just an advertising element designed to 'amp' you up, but i'll be damned if it doesn't work.
