Odex don't worry just make an DirectX h4x so it doesn't affect your screen.

I can't wait till all the threads pop up, "How do I turn off motion blur?" and "Can tunnel vision syndrome be turned off?"

Here's some comments regarding Crysis 2 motion blur: "Motion Blur REALLY annoying in Crysis 2 Demo!", "Way to turn off motion blur?"

wait... there are 7 maps in BF3 at release, and only 3 of them will be available for people who didnt preorder?! :O

nothing official, I just scrolled through the BF3 faq thread on the Anandtech forum.

apparently 3 huge map, and 4 redone maps in a "back to Karkand" pack that you get free for preordering. Im still getting the game, as the maps are big and Dice will probably make more, but I think the preorder bonus gimmick marketing has perhaps become a little too extreme.

IF its true

edit: oh, and one of the remade maps is Wake Island. Yes, we havent played that enough :p

Wow, that may seal it if true - I'm not touching BF3.
Did either of you purchase Battlefield Bad Company 2 when it was released? They did the same thing. It's a BS marketing gimmick that is far from the truth, atleast on the PC side. ALL PC VERSIONS ARE LIMITED EDITIONS. They then put something extra like a weapon unlock (M1 Garand and Thompson) in the PC Limited Editions, but still claimed they had the extra maps that no other edition had. They then remove the Limited Edition label about a month after release. On the console side, this was extremely different...all the limited edition content did not come on the non limited editions and people had to buy the maps and guns as DLC.

yes you are correct. on the pc side the limited edition label was a gimmick since pc players got everything for free as far as DLC's went. but they never said the limited edition had extra maps. it was always that the WWII weapons were automatically unlocked after putting a code in. not that it really mattered since you could unlock both those guns within the first 3 hours of the game. but as far as i remember they didn't even charge extra for the limited edition box. was the same 60 dollars that the regular edition was priced at after they got rid of the limited edition version.

i know that the devs for BF3 want to push more download content but i cant see how they would release BF3 with only 3 maps per game mode.

motion blur was in the first 2 crysis games as well. it was cryteks way of allowing 30fps to be playable instead of needing 60fps without the motion blur. was annoying then and is still annoying now.. but almost every true pc game i've seen has the option to turn off the motion blur including the crysis games. so i would expect you to be able to turn it off in BF3 either in the menu or in the config file.

I can't seem to kill motion blur in DA2..

Also, I remember when DOD:S added film grain and motion blur...yuck. First game I remember that did it.

Even if the maps are old maps. They are now destructable, it wil change the whole playing field!

After watching the game play trailer, I cannot wait for this. If Dice didn't do BF3 right (like this) then there would have been a virtual riot. And Fall 2011 seems so far away.

I don't see there being only 3 maps at launch, seems daft, unless those maps are basically such huge cities that you can't play across the whole thing in one game and they zone of various different areas for different variants of the same map, which is kind of what they did with BF2 with different sized battlefields for the different sized servers.

The while preorder thing is a bit rubbish but I'll be preordering this game anyway because I want it day one, as long as the price doesn't cost more than usual and pre order is enough to get the bonus Karkand map pack then I'm fine with that.

Still, BF2 came with 12 maps.

Nobody knows what it will take to run BF3. However, it will almost certainly will be more demanding then BC2.

Good point.

Though I did find some guesstimations as to what they recommended specs will be:

Recommended System Requirements
Processor: Quadcore Processor
Memory: 4 GB
Hard Drive: 15 GB for Digital Version, 10 GB for Disc Version
Video Memory: 512 MB
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 11
Keyboard and Mouse
DVD Rom Drive

If that's indeed the case should be fine..

However, just like you said, nobody really knows...

I must be retarded as I don't get it...

What would be pretty cool I think is to have a server set max player number and then map adjusts realtime according to the number of players. Say like, 64 man server but only 10 guys are on server then the map boundaries are a city block. When 2-4 more players join it then bumps up to 2 city blocks...somethin like that.

ArmA 2 maps are great when there are a lot of players but 10 players on a massive map results in a lot of searching for the enemy and if you run for 5 minutes just to turn a corner and have a barrel right in your face and have to start over...not fun.

What about the beta ? There's no freaking way i'm preordering @ full price without playing a bit first, i did the same stupid thing with black ops and still regret it.

With all thats going on in the world, I wonder who the factions will be. Russia? hopefully not. Iran? MEC again? GDI? I wish.
