If you keep the mindset of "waiting til the next big thing" you'll be waiting forever.

I am building a new rig now, a 2600k/580/ssd, etc , theres no point to waiting 6 months for SB-e, you'd be better off buying it and building it now, enjoying all the games you want at max out and upgrading it when you need to.

Same here.. I used one of those pre paid gift card things, and already spent the money.. So Ill see what happens.. lol

Yeah, I agree. I'll go ahead with it in the end, I know I will. I'm just hung up on a potential RMA battle with my FT02 that arrived slightly damaged. Once I sort it out I'm sure I'll be all over a new machine.
 
Anyone know what causes the planes to shake? Is it actually supposed to be like that or is it lag/rubber banding?

I thought was getting shot at first, but it seems to happen sometimes even when the plane doesn't lose any health.

Then I thought it was simulating turbulence, but it seems to be very inconsistent.

GPU's in Feb this year, and the CPU/Mobo 2 weeks ago.

If your current hardware is really limiting you from enjoying BF3 or current games, I'd say make the upgrade now. You only live once :p.

If you can enjoy BF3 on low settings and you only upgrade every 3+ years, waiting it out may be the right option for you. I'm always reselling my old stuff, so losing a couple hundred on upgrading a component or two doesn't bother me; others may not feel the same.

Then go buy it in a store? What do you expect when a highly anticipated game releases? This is why you preload. It's a huge download. Don't hate the game management system because you have unrealistic expectations. I preloaded a few hours before US release and it maxed out my internet connection at 2.2mb/s download.
 
Hope they fix the bind issue. I had to reassign away from my regular keys because of the permanent 'Q' and it's crippling.

Mine maxed at 5.5 and I still get lag! Patches come out soon plzzzzzz
 
I am beyond pissed off right now at PB. I keep getting kicked on PB enabled servers after 30-60 seconds every fucking time. I have manually updated. I have done everything in the Tips and Tricks BF3 post. I have re-downloaded the game. Deleted the pb folder and fixed the install through origin. I have opened all the ports. Ran everything as admin. I don't understand wtf else there is to do? I can play non PB servers all day with no problem, but when I want to join friends I can't.

Thought turbulence too, but if that's what it is it is WAY overdone and shows up at the wrong times.

Searching the battle log forums shows most people chalk it up to lag. If so I hope they can fix it.

I actually never liked playing support in BF games. I don't like how LMGs tend to handle, and dropping ammo isn't all that exciting to me, nor am I a heavy grenade user. But I've put almost all my time into support so far with BF3. C4 and the starter lighter LMGs really make it for me so far. Mortars soon, probably one round! Still haven't quite figured how to get a lot of support points as support though, not that much experience from previous BF games. But I've C4ed a scout helicopter :p

I think that is likely as well. This issue doesn't seem to occur on 32 player servers, and 64 player servers at the moment in general seem to be a bit iffy. All the 32 player servers I've been on so far have been completely smooth, while 64 players tend to be jerky still (although much better than yesterday).

I am set to ultra with post on high. 1680x1050 allows for that. Game looks amazing to me

GPU in sig, she is a FPB so factory oc.
 
I wonder if it's network lag or server lag causing it.. perhaps the servers are getting thoroughly loaded up and avg use is through the roof?

I'm pretty sure it's server lag. Or at least a full network load at the server farm. I live about 50 miles away from NYC, yet I was rubberbanding horribly on the NY servers I've tried (even with 32 players), yet had little to no lag when I switched to Dallas servers (at 48+ players).

After a week or two when everyone's not playing, it will disappear and be playable again.
 
Welp, just got banned for apparently killing an admin too many times. Wow... just wow.
 
I've actually been problem free on 32 players even yesterday. 64 players are better today, but still somewhat jerky. Which is why I'm preferring 32 player servers at the moment.

Addicting describes my feelings on BF3 pretty well as well. And I agree, Seine and Grand Bazaar are my favorites too, though I've been enjoying firestorm more the more I play it. Tehran highway seems great but I lag every time I play that map, seems everyone else on the server does too, I wonder what's going on there.. Anyways, I'm hoping they make quite a few say $20 map packs as time goes on, that's pretty much all this game needs (and some minor bug fixes..)
 
HUGE PROBLEM guys. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I downloaded Origin to my dedicated gaming SSD. I then downloaded BF3 and the game automatically installed to C: Program Files x86/Origin Games/. So I then moved this Origin Games folder to my SSD drive and moved the C: foldxer to the Recycling Bin. Created a new shortcut for BF3 from its new location on the SSD.

Now when I try to launch the game, Origin is telling me the game is not installed! It wants me to re-download the game. Is there a way to get Origin to open the game from its new location? I want this game installed on my SSD!
 
Try backing everything up. Then uninstall the game. Change the install game directory to where you want it, pause the download and quite Origin, then copy the contents of the game folder over. Not sure if this will work or not.
 
Is there a way to make your party join your squad on PC? I tried having my party join a game with me (just one other friend,) and my friend got placed in a random squad. We had to leave/join squads a dozen times until we randomly joined the same squad. Kind of stupid.
 
Very odd thing happened today for the 1st time playing.

Everything was going good, then the game suddenly crashed to desktop. Was still going (active in task manager and icon was active on taskbar). I'd try to go back to it and nothing would happen.

At same time the fans on both my cards went from where I had them set (at 85%) back down to 30% or so.

Seems like a NVIDIA driver issue or something that caused it?

I forced the game closed and started again no problem.....
 
Apparently Admins dont like people who can use a mortar really well.
They also dont like getting Stingered after departing the runway :p
 
What's the VRAM usage like on this game? I'm running 1.5GB 580s in SLI at 2560x1440 full Ultra. Am I maxing out my VRAM you think?
 
What are you guys using for audio settings? War tapes just kills all dynamic range... I'm torn between hifi and home cinema for my stereo setup

I'm using a 5.1 reciever with Polk floor standing speakers and Mirage center/rears/sub. I was using War Tapes but I'm not sure what's the *best* setup for sound honestly.

War tapes just makes everything loud as fuck, it detracts from the soundstage IMO.
