I run it everything on high, turned off motion blur completely and turned off AA, ambient occlusion set to HBAO.

1920x1200. Runs great.

I should mention I was running Intel.

So far all reports I'm getting are positive. I have been on the phone whole day long helping friends. I spent my BF3 vacation day tweaking PC's lol
 
will I be able to get 50-60 FPS at Ultra with my current rig?...or is SLI a must for that?...I'm hearing people say that a single GTX 580 is fine

I spent hours tweaking my card to find the sweet spot for BF3.

I was able to recreate the stuttering others are experiencing and was able to resolve it by simply tweaking the video card on CCC and doing some adjustments in BF3 settings.

I'm running butterly smooth on Ultra settings with my 5850 and never drop below 58 FPS

Here are my settings to run BF3 like butter:

Honestly I never mess with any those settings, I might have to check it out though.

Really? Intel makes good stuff in my experience...
 
Turning off HT made a huge difference for me! Much better. What about intel turbo boost and all that other stuff?

I was the same way until 2008. After an E8400, Q9650, i7-920 and 2600k... I haven't looked back at all.
 
Damnit, no cash till Friday and I want in! Maybe I should sell one of my three 5830's that are sitting in their boxes doing absolutely nothing...

lots of upgrades for small step in improvements, e8400 to 2600k would have been huge if ya skipped the q9650 and i7-920

Being near a Microcenter will do that to you with all of the processor deals. I've made most of my money back with only marginal losses. :p

I made the jump to the 2600k because there's just too much heat with the 580's + 1366, and I don't want to go water. My 2600k runs about 6-8c cooler on average than my 920 did at stock speeds.

I'm on an E8400 and considering a giant upgrade. My tentative build looks a lot like yours, sKiDmArK, except after seeing the BF3 performance tests here I think I'm gonna go with 6970s in CF. Overall, how does your machine run sKiDmArK?

With my rig, I'm running Ultra, with no motion blur and no deferred AA, and I get 60+ pretty much all the time - the only time I've seen it drop below is looking at a burning tank or something with a lot of smoke.

Perhaps it's an X58 thing.. My buddies with sandy setups are fine, but I know HT off helped me and a friend on our 920's.

I haven't actually enabled the FPS counter, but I run 1920x1200 on ultra with both AA's maxed perfectly smooth. No slow downs, ever. The only issue I've had is with the latest video driver crashing on me a couple of times.

CPU and GPU's both at stock speeds.
 
this game is addicting as all hell. my only 'complaint' at the moment is that the maps will eventually grow stale. they're not bad maps, there's just not enough of them. the Back to Karkand expansion will be a welcomed addition.

what are your guys' favorite maps at the moment? i can't seem to get enough of Seine Crossing and Grand Bazaar.

Thanks. You purchase that rig recently? Probably doesn't belong in this thread, but I simply can't decide whether or not it's a good time to buy. Sure, I'm on a freakin' E8400, but with SB-E coming in a couple weeks and new GPUs early next year... can't decide argh.

SB-E doesn't bring enough to the table over a SB to be worth waiting for/paying more for, unless you really need the extra cores.

Absoultely agree. Still feels like it's polluting my decision. Ivy might be 6+ months away but I can't help but think about that as well... even though I've lived with an E8400 for this long.

Anyone else not been charged yet by Origin for digital BF3 LE ? Ive been checking my credit card online and I still have not been charged yet for BF3 but it's on my origin account and I can play it..... Dunno if they are just lagging behind or what??
