yeah i was going to get this on direct2drive, but had that paypal problem (and i really wanted to use my paypal credit).. I could get it on origin, but they will add tax bringing it to over $16..

BF3 is great when it's working properly.

But it crashes for me on average every 20 minutes. YMMV!

I love these maps... brings back a lot of memories from BF2.

What really annoys me though is the fact that these are so good... it makes you realize how much the BF3 maps are lacking in design and gameplay, even the large ones

Same thought here. Basically they shipped the game in two parts from what I can tell.

As for opting out of DLC, there are enough sheep that you'll need the DLC to avoid getting bumped from servers.

My brother was going to get my nephew BF3. I'm going to tell him that he now has a $12 hidden charge.

12 dollars for essentially an expansion pack is pretty good. You are getting new maps, weapons, vehicles, and game modes.
