Don't want to get involved with your guys argument, but from my point of view when there's like 50 guns in the game and about 30% of the time I die it's to a 10-A, then something needs to be done. Not necessarily a nerf! What I'm guessing is that a lot of players see that's the gun that kills them the most and they think "there must be something overpowered about it".
DICE nerfed the automatic weapons by making them horrible at anything past mid range (by giving them annoying recoil/inaccuracy) - so I'm guessing a lot of players got fed up and switched over to the 10-A's because then they don't need to deal with annoying recoil/inaccuracy. Playing any other modern FPS game (like CoD, TiFa2, even CS!) the automatic rifles feel so much more comfortable/fun to use.
IMO they don't need to nerf the shottys as a lot of ppl are calling for - they just need to fix the other rifles in the game so that they are not so annoying to use, especially past mid range. When casuals no longer see a 10-A killing them 30% of the time they will stop calling for nerfs.
Most weapons are either short or long range right now. it's fine with me I use multiple classes and guns... For medium range work the Mondragoon Sniper or the 8.95 marksmen for the medic is the best bet. The standard medic rifles aren't too good at medium range because the accuracy drops off if you fire quickly and once you hit an enemy once for 30 damage they're running away.
I've gotten a ton of kills with the shotguns... theyre very fun. But right now the weapon I have the most kills with is the Gewehr 98 Sniper with 668 or so. but I actually play assault half the time.
Interested to see what they'll do.

If your ability to buy some skins (things that don't affect the gameplay) ruins the longevity of the game then the game isn't very good. Skins should just be a "for fun" element added onto compelling gameplay.

You're right. Absolutely absurd. This is almost like gambling. A few prominent youtubers are ranting about this also. I believe LevelCap even took it upon himself to spend money to unlock all the skins in each revision by buying Monster Energy drinks and battlepacks in-game just to get some numbers. To get all the skins for one revision, he spent roughly $70-$80. The crazy thing is, this isn't new. They started this in BF4. The difference is Battlepacks were given out at a much higher frequency than BF1 and also had more content included in each one.

Let's compare this to BF4. You could buy every weapon, mod, and upgrade via microtransactions in BF4. So a day 1 noob could have the best of the best in gear while the person playing for months was still working towards getting all the unlocks. In BF1, yes, they can buy stuff. But's it's stuff that doesn't change anything for anybody. So regardless of what you guys are complaining about, this system is WAY better than it was in BF4. Let people waste their money on skins if they want, I don't give two shits as long as people can't buy the best weapons on day 1 and make my life miserable.
I've never had a problem with companies selling cosmetic only items. And I don't have a problem with this in BF1. I think EA has actually gone in the right direction for once. The game is amazing, and there isn't any Pay To Win crap.

Myself I hate grinding out unlocks to achieve equipment parity with people who spend an ungodly amount of time in game... it's why I stopped playing WOW. If I had the option to pay extra $$ up front to have all the weps unlocked I would. This is supposed to be a FPS not a gorram MMO.

Blame the kids with their parent's credit card...People on the forums were complaining when you couldn't buy them with real money.
I wish the game offered both. The weapons in BF usually don't make that much of a difference, but the unlock system in BF3 and BF4 was such that I would rotate through all the weapons to unlock things. The unlock system in Hardline, Battlefront, and BF1 is such that once I buy a gun I like I don't bother with the rest of the guns. Trying the new weapons tends to extend my enjoyment of the game so the old system is a win/win for me. With BF1 I would probably play until I got tired of the gun I was using and never touch it again.
This would especially be true with the loss of Battlelog and Better battlelog letting me see the stats to plan which weapon to use.
Is it only the Maxwells that are flickering? I have Titan XPs and haven't noticed any flickering in either DX11 or 12.
Wait... you can get stuff in BF from those monsters? Fuck I was wondering that... I thought it was just advertising... I didn't see any code. I must have drank like 20 of those things since I bought the game.

I like energy drinks, but in moderation. Just like alcohol, too much is poison. I'm not pulling a LevelCap and buying that many drinks for this shit. I'm sure even LevelCap got to can #3 and probably started pouring them down the sink.

It is both BETTER and WORSE.
It is definitely better because of what you stated.
It is worse because you aren't buying that cosmetic skin directly. You are buying a CHANCE AT GETTING that cosmetic skin. It's also very likely you might just get something you already have or something you don't like at all. In a way, you are gambling. Fortunately they let you scrap for more chances to get another battlepack, but you will have to scrap dozens of items just for that one chance. The system needs some improvement.
If they change it, so that you pay, get a legendary skin of your choosing, an XP booster, and maybe some other wildcard item, I bet they could make a lot of money. I'm not buying into it, but I could see some other people doing it.

Complete horseshit. BF4 wasn't "pay to win" - some of the best guns in BF3 and BF4 were the starter guns. Anyone that actually believes that there were "day one noobs" getting "the best guns" with microtransactions is just tipping their hand as a casual player that didn't understand the game or play it for very long. You could get all the unlocks for a particular vehicle or gun in a single play session without any kind of herculean effort.

So god damn true. Some of the later unlocks were also the worst. The Groza1? Groza4? SR338? CS5? The SR338 got patched and was eventually decent. The other 3 are still shit to this day.
The Scar-H and M416 were some of the best weapons for Assault class through every single patch. They were literally the 2nd and 3rd unlocks for the game and you could get them playing less than an hour. You could unlock the M249 just by completing the single player and choosing a certain ending, and that M249 was identical to the MG4 (except for the reversed recoil pattern) which was one of the best LMG's.

These micro transactions completely take away the reward factor of skins. THe idea of battlepacks being rng was dumb but the way battlepacks worked was smart. Scrapping crappy skins to grind for better ones. But now that shit is all out the window. Having a legendary skin was an achievment but now its pointless because everyone is just going to buy them.

Anyone see any decent Black Friday deals in Canada for BF1? I'm seeing 33% off the base game on Origin but the ultimate edition with DLC is only 22% off or so.
US has Best Buy @ 50% off... if we had even 40% off ultimate edition I would likely buy it, even with the garbage server rental situation right now as I hope they fix it.

Had a memorable round in the heavy tank today.
Rolled up in it to an objective in conquest hard core mode.
Full server, but it didn't seem like it.
As I'm circling around to see any enemies, all of a sudden I see like 9 of them hurdled together in a tight spot, and they're all sniping. Lol
One shot, boom got nine kills. Bodies flying everywhere. Was awesome.

Not everyone will do this.
If you're a vet battlefield player, you know there is some grind involved in getting the unlocks that you want. And since skins aren't anything but cosmetic, they're pretty much last on my list to get. I haven't bought a battle pack yet, as DICE announced there will be skins that are temporary instead of permanent. These are the times to buy battle packs Imo. The ultra rare ones. And saving your scrap money for those times, you'll have plenty to buy a few.

Hardcore mode takes care of that feeling lol. Every gun is quite effective.
I too have noticed a drop in the medic population compared to the prevous BF games. I posted this earlier in the thread:
"If you want ppl to play medic, give the class automatic weapons. Simple. I'm guessing the population drop in players playing medic is simply because they prefer automatic weapons. A lot of ppl who played medic in the previous games have migrated over to assault/support because they don't like single shot weapons. And no, the semi-automatics don't satisfy them."
It's not that the guns they have are weak, it's that most players prefer the gameplay style of automatic weapons, and this is something that is common to almost all shooters - the percentage of players who prefer singleshot/semi auto is much smaller than the percentage who prefer automatic weapons.
I play medic bc it is tough. Using the sweeper at least offers a bit of quickness. For close quarters I usually use a pistol though. I am still very effective. I just sneak around and flank the shit out of people. Best practice is to sneak behind, revive downed team mates and voila. Enemy now has a fresh squad on their ass.
This is the first game where I actually love using each class. I started out doing Scout and Medic the most. I've got a very high SPM because I usually stay alive very long when playing Scout and get a lot of kills and cap points. Right now my SPM is 850ish because I just had a few good runs as a scout, but it can drop to 500/600 if I am rushing a lot with assault or medic. I leveled up the medic class to get the Mondragoon Sniper which I love... 400ish kills with that alone.
Then I started getting into the assault class thanks to the medal system. Realized I can do pretty damn good with one of the SMGs and the shotguns too of course. Right now I'm playing 50/50 scout and assault unless my team is losing then I switch to medic.
Now I'm finally getting into the support class. I have nothing unlocked with it yet but I'm going to keep at it... I had a blast with it last game I played. looking forward to using the BAR.
Still having a blast with this game and looking forward to new maps and nations.

I just got the bar. pretty good close range. I havn't played scout at all. is there a weapon I can use close range? I dont like to snipe.

What guns are good in this game. Just bought it because it was cheap even though I said I wouldn't. Suppose I wanted a new game with pretty graphics for my GTX 1070.

The M1903 Experimental and some of the carbine variants of the rifles. The M1903 Experimental was an invention for USA troops so they could quickly pop off small caliber pistol rounds in semi-auto fashion using their standard issue M1903 bolt action rifles. They could insert and remove the Pedersen device at will to switch between regular rifle rounds using bolt action or a full magazine of pistol caliber firing as fast as they pulled the trigger. In-game, the M1903 experimental is really weak right now and needs a buff but it is usable as long as you aren't the first guy over the hill facing the everyone else with SMG's and shotguns. If you go this route, play it like the medic class as I explain below.

People are very used to the medic class formula that was introduced in BF2142 then repeated successfully in BF3 and BF4. People don't seem to want to break the habit.
Say it with me now...
MEDIC ISN'T THE ASSAULT CLASS. THE MEDIC ISN'T THE ASSAULT CLASS. STOP PLAYING THE MEDIC CLASS LIKE THE ASSAULT CLASS.
You have to play it conservatively. Unless you have the M1907 Sweeper, you absolutely DO NOT want to be the first guy over the hill or around the corner. Pick a piece of cover, pop out, get 1-2 guys 20-50 feet away, reload, rinse repeat. If you got more than one guy getting closer than 20 feet from you then use a grenade to take them out or scare them into staying in your rifle's sweet spot. Augment your loadout with a pistol good for hipfire and that either fires quickly or has high damage. Use your pistol when you are stuck in a close quarters situation.
Don't be the lone wolf guy as a medic. Be with a squad of guys. Let the Assaults go out first, cover them when they charge out from cover. If they die, THEN you charge out and go revive them after you clear out their killers. Then you hop your ass back behind cover and let the assaults continue the push.
If you play like this, I guarantee you can get 20+ kills in a round and an insane amount of points from revives and heals. I've done it myself plenty of times. The only maps where these tactics are near impossible is Amiens and Argonne Forest simply due to map design. On those maps just equip the M1907 Sweeper and be done with it.
