Like wouldn't it be better to use the advantages of digital distribution and release it simultaneity world wide, but no they have to fuck with us.
It even took here 2 months after release until steam store started to sell dow2.
 
Got a black screen and hard crash a couple of times when I was playing tonight. Uh oh, smells like hardware failure is imminent. Using teamspeak with the game is buggy as well, the talk would cut off in between rounds. Couldn't figure out how to use in game push to talk, and did not hear anyone speak all night, is that normal?

I had the same thing happen to me in the Beta, black screen and hard crash. It lost all my BIOS setting too on one occasion! Looks like some of the issues haven't be identified and fixed from the Beta. Sadly still waiting for postie to come, so I'll suck it see for myself.

I hear the server browser is exactly the same as the Beta, did DICE actually listen to feedback or was it really a 'demo' to showcase the game?
 
Game is awesome, got to play for 5 minutes this morning. Modifying the FOV made a HUGE difference in the enjoyability of this game.
 
HBAO makes the game feel jerky even though the game doesn't go below 30fps for me. No crashes for me and I played for 5 hours or so last night.

40 - 50 fps at 1680x1050 with all settings maxed, 2x MSAA, HBAO off
30 - 40fps with HBAO on

Q6600 at 3.2Ghz - GTX 260
 
anyone getting slowdowns after playing single player for a while?
I got killed at one point and on the restart it was running in slo mo, there were no video glitches or skipping just moving VERY slow
Reboot fixed it.
i860 4G ram and 4870 video card
1900X1280 max settings played fine for a while but It seemed that the longer I play the slower it runs.

not related to game play but the unlocks...I log in and can never get them to work, can not connect to EA server.

This sounds like a memory leak... Though I didn't experience this particular problem, I had my own set of problems. :p

EDIT:

My problems are as follows:

Loaded up the game, decided to pump everything up at MAX (well MSAA was at 4x), same settings that had run smooth as butter in the Beta. Joined the first server I could (with good Ping), and my game was running like a slide show.

Ok, this is strange. I exited the game, turned FPS counter on in ATI Tray Tools and loaded back up into a different multiplayer session on a different map. Same results and I noticed my FPS never went above 30, usually dipping into the teens. I noticed others reporting much higher frame rates in this game with the same graphics card so I felt something was definitely off.

Loaded up RivaTuner and it showed my ATI card as a "Generic Graphics Card" which had no driver set for it. I don't know if something went wrong after my gaming session the evening prior and my system some how was screwed up or if I was just having a bad run of luck and BC2 hit a snag on this issue.

Long story short, I decided to reinstall my ATI drivers, but before I did that I decided to attempt an upgrade from 10.2 to the 10.3 beta drivers and this seems to have resolved the issue. Of course I had MSAA turned down to 2x from earlier when trying to resolve the issue (it hadn't) but I was easily going into the 100+ FPS realm in Single Player. I wasn't feeling so well and only had a few minutes in Multiplayer but I rarely dipped below 80FPS (but didn't go above 100 like in Single Player). I also didn't get a chance to see if my card showed up properly in RivaTuner or not so I can't verify if that was even a sign of this problem or just an issue with RivaTuner itself. I will check this out when I get home from work and report back on my findings.

If your having issues with extremely low frame rates with a Radeon series card, I advise wiping the drivers clean with Driver Sweeper and then reinstalling them, or if your feeling balsy and don't mind beta drivers, finding the 10.3 beta drivers and trying that out.

Specs in sig. I'm getting 60 fps constant with the 10.2 cats and everything set to maximum [high, 8xaa, 16xaf, hbao]. Freakin loving this game too, so much fun.

If you have random crashes or net problems - try that reboot someone suggested. Works wonders, ended up playing all night.

Fun game, reminds me of BF2 but updated.

And yes, disable HBAO if you want any fps.

You can pre-download it now in the EU.

They can't release it worldwide on Tuesday because all the retail stores would be at a 3 day disadvantage. Either EA are legally bound in their contracts to release it digitally at the same time as retail outlets, or they aren't willing to destroy that relationship for the sake of a few PC digital download sales.
 
New Nvidia driver is out for SLI and multi-GPU support for BC2

The beta test ran smoothly for me; however, with that said, the release has been a nightmare. I'm constantly getting random errors, such as steam is running in compatibility mode and shuts down (it isn't), or when I click on the BFBC2 logo it tells me the game is unavailable and to try again, or can't connect to EA servers, or you've been kicked from game(no PB warning), I've deleted steam and am reinstalling now, but we'll see how it goes later when I get home from work.
 
i got two bsds and when i click on server selection no pings come up. this only happens when im playing bfbc2 so im pretty sure its not my hardware. im using 10.2 cats. i expected a bug or two on release date but this is a bummer. i can sometimes pick a server and play for a while without problems. strange issues and random.

Maybe my crash wasn't from overheating, then.

It's a scrap different but mostly the same on the server browser.
 
Is there any way to view your ping in game? I'm no longer using a G15 keyboard which was the only option I was aware of in the beta.
 
If anyone is getting consistent connection to server has been lost errors. Google TCP Timeout (I've doubled mine on my Speedtouch) and disable SPI firewalls

I simply get "You have been kicked from the server" immediately on loading :(...

Yeah, this is a totally different issue.

The issue I was talking about is pretty much unfixable on certain routers,. But the frequency of disconnects can be helped by diabling SPI firewalls and increasing the TCP timeout on routers.

If you lost BIOS settings on a crash, something is wrong with your system, which is likely what is causing the crashes.

I had that issue as well. I figured it was punk buster trying to update itself or do something that needed elevation. Ran the game again with elevation, joined a server, and played for a min. I then quit the game and ran it un elevated and was able to connect to any server just fine. I have a feeling i will have to do this again down the road sometime.
 
since I can't do multi and I get constant kicked from server errors but single player is awesome, field of view needed to be increased to at least 70, vsync isn't working either.
 
I tried to play last night and it was a no go. After 40 mins, i finally was able to join a server. Once I was in there, i played for a good 1.5 hours.

I really like the environment while playing this game. It feels so genuine especially when you are reigning bullets down from a heli and the debri is flying all over. Im not very good at this game. it seems everyone has better weapons than me. I found a XMP8 and I dont really know how. I am a total noob when it comes to these types of games.

I tried again this morning for 30 mins and couldnt get into a server. Kept getting connection to server lost, cant connect to EA servers. I finally joined a server then it crashed to desktop before it loaded. UGH!

I bought the limited yesterday on steam so how do i get my redeem code for the upgrades. Any help? Also how do i fly the helicopter? I killed a few people (lol) because when I press forward, it flies backwards!

I'll share, merely cause I was in your boat not knowing how to fly.

With default controls (WASD):

W: Lifts straight up into the air
S: Descends straight down to the ground
A: Spins chopper to the left
D: Spins chopper to the right

Mouse:

Forward: Leans the chopper forward. The higher the forward angle, the more speed you'll pick up
Back: Lifts nose toward the air and moves backwards
Left: Chopper moves in the left direction, keeping the nose pointing forward.
Right: Same as above. Goes right.

Combine the left/right of the mouse with S/D to quickly maneuver the chopper around and such.
 
The server browser search has been pretty hit or miss with me trying to find a specific shacknews/hardforum advertised server.

I was somewhat successful adding the servers I wanted to the GameSettings.ini file under the FavoriteGames line on the bottom. The only issue is you need to get the name of the server EXACTLY right and some servers love to use weird chars or formatting. Anyone found a better way of doing this?
 
i see in the screenshots mike211 posted on page seven that he has the same issue as me. if you look very closely in the bottom right corner (near the hud), there is a very small white dot. it's only a single pixel, basically.

this dot shows up in single player for me. i forgot to look for it in multiplayer. i tend to lose sight of in when the screen is filled up with scenery, but during the letterboxed cutscenes in singleplayer it stands out like a sore thumb.

what's up with the dot? anyone else seeing it?
 
I can't beleive they haven't fixed the server browser.
How hard is it to make something functional... grrr
 
marvyn, to use defib i believe you have to unlock it first. (i'm not sure on this because it came unlocked already in the beta.) once it's unlocked, it's in slot 3, so push 3 and there it is, left mouse button to use it. just get up next to a dead teammate (they'll have a heartbeat monitor line floating over them) and crouch near 'em and zap!

as for med packs, again they have to be unlocked. they are in slot 4. hit 4 so you're holding the pack. hit your left mouse button and this will toss the pack out onto the ground.

you can see squadmates and teammates that need a med pack. if they spot you, a cross (+) will show up over their head.

this is random, After discussing it on the steam forunms I cant figure otu what causes it, but I started with my assault's ammo box and my medics defib & medic box, but still had to unlock my engi's repair tool. but others have started with the engi repair tool but were missing their medic items.
 
i haven't played engi yet, but my ammo box and medpack/defib were not unlocked by default.

i got my copy via D2D.

mines a d2d copy as well. Like I said it seems to be random, I had all my assualt and medic items but had to unlock my engi repair tool.
 
Is it easier to find games if you try to join a friend's game? I try to join servers and it won't connect 19/20 times.

edit. If anyone could add me, it'd be fun to actually find a game: UltimateQuix
 
How do we get the 6-7 promised unlocks for pre ordering? I started out with no med packs and no wrench to repair anything :\

Supposedly you're supposed to get another key/redeem code from Steam, but I don't have one yet, so who knows.
