Are Internet Explorer Users Dumb?

I stop reading after "... issued an IQ test ONLINE..."

If we go by online IQ tests mine is 210, and its not 210....
See, but that first testing part is just a cover. The Real IQ test comes after that, when they offer to provide you with a report/certificate/etc. detailing exactly how smart you are for only $X.

Well, last time I took an iq test I was 163, so there are definitely smarter people out there than me. Then again, that was like 10 years ago so I must be stupid now, because I gave up on alternate browsers.

Then again, Chrome did piss me off when it broke my outlook email url linking, had to go in registry and remove chrome entries and add the correct entries. Chrome uninstall did not fix the problem like they claimed it would.

If you use Chrome, you have broken windows shit. Enough said.

Opera users are exceptionally intelligent?

No no no...something about this just doesn't seem right at all.

I buy that. I was always kinda partial to Opera. I like its UI a little more and the integrated email client is pretty spiffy. But then I just drive a truck for a living.

What I find amusing is that if you choose to use IE, knowing there are better browsers available, yet you still choose to use IE...

Because Chrome doesn't support a lot of work connectivity applications I have to use. I guess I should get the chrome source and add in functionality to make it actually work, huh? I could just see it now...it would develope the same 'vulnerabilities' IE has if I did, then people would bitch although it would actually work.

No thanks. Chrome even sucks on Android tablets, which is why there are tons of alternate browsers that work better...on googles own OS.

Safari users are the typical apple users. They just follow whatever trend is popular so theyd score about the same as the majority of others.

They only differentiated IE versions? How could they assume all the other browsers are the latest, and why doesn't this affect the data like IE versions?

What if I'm using FF 3.6 or 4?

FAIL.

Makes sense to me!

Since I use Firefox, I'm in the 2nd dumbest browser group. Seems about right.:D

This IQ test makes a lot of sense. IE people are the dumbest people around, they're soo dumb that they can't even read the windows telling them to update to IE9 (not a total disaster btw.) </sarcasm>

I can't take this test seriously, I mean it's easy to download a browser or just use the pre-built in Google Chrome browser that's on some prebuilt computers; and the fact that people of alternate browsers get marginally higher scores just makes me wanna scratch my head. I mean really, I thought people who used Firefox and/or Chrome were smarter.

Well I guess those uptight people who downloaded Camino and Opera are feeling like gods right now; they downloaded the most obscure browser in history, therefore they're smart... Really, I judge smartness on behaivor rather then on some IQ test. I mean if we all took this test seriously then Opera users would be presidents of the United States someday.

The only dumb users in this matter are those that actually think their browser is better than others. All of them have their ups and downs and malware can come through any one of them.

...well

Better browser according to who? It's all a matter of preference. There is no such thing as a superior browser.

Indeed. IE 9 is arguably the most secure browser on Windows these days, The only major flaw in it is lack of lots of extensions.

Wonder how many of the IE users were just colour blind?

As many other's have said, online IQ tests are hardly the most reliable way of figuring out how smart someone is.

It's amazing how much anti-MS/IE rhetoric is out there, to the point that this bogus story wasn't even questioned by most people, and widely reported.

I have to give the BBC credit though, At least they followed through and wrote a story about the hoax, even though they were one of the media outlets that reported the survey in the first place.

Ha, that is me right there. I can go through an entire book of those stupid ass tiny colored circles and not see a single number inside of them. :(

Nice to see the fanboy's fell for this story. It would be the same thing if the story had been about iphone users having the lowest IQ. All the Android nutters would be all over it as if God himself had declared their superiority.

Few would report a story about something negative about iDevices, especially CNN.

Unless you are a webdev or otherwise need to rely on your browser for work... worrying that much about what browser people use probably doesn't bode well for your Wisdom stat.

I don't agree with such a treads, it's just plain retardess to rate people by what browser they use or how they know to work with it. Not everyone has to know everything on computers just like local nerds do.

There's a reason on why it's called "Drive-by media".

Sadly, my opinion of the media lowers every day. It seems long gone are the days of journalist fact checking stories before publishing. Not just on "fluff" stories like this, but on more important stories, where a sensational falsehood or incorrect speculation is more likely to be published than actual facts.

We don't have anyone to blame but ourselves. Tabloids sell while papers with actual investigative journalism go out of business because of low readership.

It's capitalism, which appears to be the worst system out there, except for all the others.

I've notice alot of people using firefox now and alot of them are pretty dumb when it comes to computers, not sure where they found firefox. :p

Just because it was a hoax doesn't mean it's not potentially true...

:p
