Anyone seriously considering the 4070 TI

My resolution is just a notch below the 4k and everything is pretty much running on the max settings except the Alan Wake 2. I am pretty sure the 4080 would max out the settings. My monitor is also 60hz so there is no point of getting the 4090 unless I upgrade the monitor. For the price the 4070 Ti is a great value.

The 4070 Ti Super is looking to be a killer card, though.
That's my answer to the original thread question. I'm waiting to see how much it costs in my country (probably an arm and a leg) - what's the chance that ppl buy this and then want to upgrade - so a few used cards are on the market, already? Probably not, eh?
So, I'll look at the sticker price..... bow my head, start crying a bit.... then go back to looking at used 3090s......BUT, WAIT?!?
Is there a chance that AMD lowers the price on 7900 XTs and/or 7900 XTX card? Probably not, eh? So, I'll bow my head....
Rinse and repeat....
What should I do? :)

AMD might drop the price of the 7900 XTX to $900 when the supers launch just to match up better against t he 4080 Super. Might make for an interesting market when those Supers drop.

The 4070 Ti Super might be the card to get out of the bunch though as far as price/performance. But we'll have to wait for benchmarks, etc.

I had a 4070 Ti and returned it to get a 4080. It was just barely not enough at 4K. The 4070 Ti Super looks like it should make the original 4080 mostly irrelevant.

If you have a 4080 now and sell it for a 4080 super, you are an idiot. It's low single digit fps gains supposedly. Also I think the 4080 will still have a decent lead over the 4070ti super. Nobody knows until the cards drop.

Thankfully my 4080 plays my games at 4k ultra at 120fps. I am sure some games can't do that but I don't play them so I don't need any upgrading. My LG C2 does not go above 120fps either. No need for anything until I get a higher refresh rate monitor and the 5000 series comes out.

I’m gonna be upgrading from the 2080 TI Kingpin and I have my eyes on the 4070 TI super.

You guys think that would be a good choice?

Should be a pretty good performance increase. 2080Ti is similar to 3070Ti and between 4060Ti and 4070 whereas 4070Ti ought to be a fair bit faster than 3090Ti.

1440p (or upscaled 4k) could be (maybe less so for native 4k, could want to go for an higher memory bandwith option), could keep an eye on 6900xt price if there some around as well in that raster performance range.

Would be hard to say without knowing say a short list of game you would want better performance, for some title maybe the 6800xt-7800xt would make sense (say some Call of Duty), but considering how still good the 2080Ti is relative to new option in that price range, it is not that automatic of a good choice.

Considering that the 4070 Ti is about 50% faster than the 2080 Ti, I would guess that yes the 4070 Ti Super should be a worthy upgrade.

Based on the increased CUDA cores, additional vram, and additional memory bandwidth the Ti Super version is probably going to be about 10% faster than the regular 4070 Ti.

One thing you need to watch out for is having the proper connector. The 40 series requires a special high power connector.

7900XT has already seen a price drop to $749 in the US. Check your pc parts dealers in your area to see if the price cuts have hit.

I don't think the 7900XTX will see price cut until the 4080 Super releases.

Yes, but, they're not idiots - because, that would mean lots of 4080s on the used market and that can only mean a better chance for me to buy one....so, no, they're not idiots...it's a great idea! ;-)

4080 here in Canada is 1700 to get you in the door, plus tax, so call it 2 grand.. they will not be popping up on the used market here like in previous years.

I am currently on an RTX 2070 and looking at the RTX 4070 TI.... not the super.. limited budget. I have $550 in amazon gift cards and finding the 4070 ti is about $800....
I mainly play MW3 and bought helldivers 2
final piece other than monitor to my new pc build (i9-13900k last year)

my choices i am trying to decide are between:
  1. GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming OC 12G Graphics Card, 3X WINDFORCE Fans, 12GB 192-bit GDDR6X, GV-N407TGAMING OC-12GD Video Card
  2. PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB XLR8 Gaming Verto Epic-X RGB Triple Fan Graphics Card DLSS 3
  3. ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Trinity OC DLSS 3 12GB GDDR6X 192-bit 21 Gbps PCIE 4.0 Gaming Graphics Card, IceStorm 2.0 Advanced Cooling, Spectra 2.0 RGB Lighting, ZT-D40710J-10P
thoughts? I have had a zotac 1060 and it was an ok card...

They probably all perform similarly so I doubt that makes much of a difference. As far as warranty goes Giga/Zotac are okay, never owned a PNY. I'd go with the best deal you can get.

Push for Ti SUPER or cut back for 4070 SUPER.

Push for Ti SUPER or cut back for 4070 SUPER.
The Ti Super makes the most sense - I thought gamers (today) were saying you should only get a 16gb card now - 12gb and below aren't good buys nowadays? I'm just repeating what I read. I'm not sure how accurate that is. When I see the price there $800 USD for a 4070 Ti - that seems pretty high for what it is. It's even more expensive in other countries (Canada, for e.g.) - for me, it is. I'd look for a used one or keep saving for a 4070 Ti Super.

I paid $670 for the gigabyte....
on the ram part.. i was reading that too.. but what they are saying is if you are doing 1080p or 1440p gaming... 12gb of ram is fine.. most people want to game at 4k max settings and 12gb wont cut it...

since the 4070 super was $600-$625... and me getting the TI for $670... chose that part... it actually cost me $150 out of pocket due to amazon gift cards whereas a ti super would of been an extra #00-$400 out of pocket...
while that doesnt seem bad... I am possibly buying a new truck this weekend.. either gonna be $66k or $78k... either chevy LZ or gmc at4....
so counting my coins... it is just that the 2070 aint cutting it.

Gotcha. I misread - thought I saw you say the 4070 Ti was $800.

4070 SUPER at $600 is probably still the right choice as next gen starts Q4 this year. The extra $200 isn't getting you a massive leap whereas the 4070 SUPER has the most bang/buck. I have all the SUPER cards here at home and have used them extensively (with the same 7800X3D CPU). The 4070 SUPER is a champ. I also love the 4070 Ti SUPER as a cheaper alternative to the (worst value) 4080S (4070 Ti SUPER for all intents and purposes is a 4080S that didn't make the bin). I had all 4090s and dumped them to get ready for next gen.

If you can get a 4070 Ti @ $670 then that is worth the bump. However, at that rate maybe look to the used/open box market. If you have a Micro Center nearby just watch their website for a few days you can snag some awesome deals (reserve online, then pick up) - even on SUPER cards.

Oh, okay, thanks for explaining. I have a 4K TV - that's my only display so I might as well strive for 4k when gaming?
I'm saving up for either a (used) 4080 or (used) 7900 xtx - and recently, I've been heavily leaning towards the 4080.
If I was to buy new, I probably can't stretch the budget towards a 4080 SUPER but I would consider a 4070 Ti Super if going Nvidia. I think a 4070 Ti Super can do some games at 4K, right? More than the other 4070 series, I imagine.

Unfortunately, the 4070 TI Super is only barely better than the 4070 TI, in actual performance.

It does have 16GB of VRAM, instead of 12GB. But that only matters.....when it matters. IMO, the 4070 TI super isn't a good buy.

You are correct.

It all comes down to price. The 4070 Ti is discontinued. Market perception when it is time to sell will not be as positve as the 4070 Ti SUPER. It has all the things secondary market buyers will be looking for: newer (2024 release), and more VRAM. Just something to consider when you are (or are not) gonna jump up a few bucks to go SUPER.

sell??? nahh too many other machines it will go into!!!
i think pornhub will run great on a 4070 ti 😁

well looks i am going 4070 ti super... my order got cancelled and now i have nothing coming in.
so instead of it costing me $150.. costing me $300...

I decided to treat myself and pulled the trigger on a 4070 Super @ $670 out the door and $104 for my 2060.

I wanted to get the 4070Ti but didn't think the couple of extra frames would make that much of a difference. Plus I'm going to try to run this off a CX550m paired with a OC'ed 10700K and the the Ti sucks too much juice for the performance difference imo.

Coming from a 2060, the 4070 Super should blow my socks off @ 4K, even being bottle necked :D .

you should take that 104 and get a better psu...
I had one in the cart,
then I saw a lot of full rig power usage reviews from all over saying a max of around 340w with a 14900k, and 230w with just the card and I thought it could be doable?
I know I pull nowhere near as much as a 14900k but the transients spikes are the worrying bit . I might just get one anyways. I figured I was aiming a little low, since it's my own rig.

850w power supplies can be found for under $100. I would not use a 550w. 750w would work just fine as well. I would go with more than you need just in case you would like to upgrade your CPU in the future. The cost from a 650w to an 850w is pretty small.

A base model 4070 Ti Super should also be $800. $800 for a 4070 Ti is flat out overpriced now that the Ti Super exists.
