My Antec Quatro 850w is getting on my last nerve... Anytime my system starts pulling a decent amount of power, she starts getting annoyingly loud. It is by FAR the loudest item in my case and I'm just wondering if there are options to remedy this problem. Suggestions?

1) Why'd you get an 850W? It would be enough to run ALL of your systems listed there.
2) Why'd you get an Antec over a good brand like Seasonic?

Options:
1) You could void the warranty and swap out the fan for a quieter model. However there's a good chance that another fan might not work with the Quattro. And of course, the warranty voiding

2) Get a quieter PSU

3) Get a quieter case

4) Play loud music/games to drown out the PSU noise

5) Stick with the PSU and just deal with the noise.

1) Snagged a really good deal on it
2) HAHAHA

As far as swapping the fan out, didn't know how much trouble it would be but never even thought about RMA'ing it over noise issues. Anyone know if that would be something Antec would even consider?

If it's a defect or an isolated issue, then they'd replace it. If it's something that all of them do, they may or may not.

If it's a problem with the stock fan as it is, and you don't think it's arisen due to the fan malfunctioning, you'll just be back at square one as they'll send you the same product.

You could replace the fan, but 1) working inside a PSU is very dangerous, so you have to be extra careful and 2) it technically voids the warranty. Make sure those are two risks you want to take before you do it.

Personally, I would have just gone for a quieter PSU like a Corsair or Seasonic, as mentioned. Any decent 450W PSU is more than enough to power your system, and these lower wattage models usually run quieter and have higher efficiency.

Some power supplies might need all the airflow that stock fans provide (not sure if yours does) so you risk overheating the power supply if you swap them out for quieter ones. I killed one power supply this way.

I would get a new power supply and keep the Quatro around as a spare.

All you have to do is, flip the psu upside diwn, since the fan is prolly not getting enough air in from the bottom
