Antec P180

I just went ahead and ordered one from TechOnWeb, since I've seen that they appear to be legit from the posts on here. I know they say they are backordered, which is fine, since I shouldn't be buying the damned thing anyway.... I'm bar-O-kee.

So I can now say I have one on the way-- even if it'll be a few weeks before it gets here.

:)

What's the consensus on the fans that come with the case? I've only seen brief mention of them in reviews on here-- Are they the "quiet"? Like, compared to others?

Also, when is there gonna be a [H]ard Review of this case up on the front page?-- with this kind of following, I know you guys are planning one.

ZZF has them in stock.

Bought mine early this morning. :)

I think it'll fit it just as well as any other case. From the few pictures I have seen of 7800s installed they are slightly shorter than an ATX motherboard. It looks like the biggest problem is that they might get in the way of IDE or other connectors on certain motherboards. But then again you already have your 7800s dont you? So you would know if they make anything hard to connect on the mobo.

I think the VGA duct would be a nice addition to keeping your new babies nice and cool though.

Thx for the response.

I am in the process of getting together all the components for my new build so nothing is together yet. I checked around and read up some more and I'm no longer worried about it fitting, and I especially like the cooling potential of the P180. :)

Thx again for responding!

I'd definitely install another fan in the front upper drive cage though. That should blow right onto them and help a lot.

I'm hoping Frys or somebody gets these in. Since most people are charging at or close to what I assume is the MSRP online (I'm guessing it's $130 or $140, Antec's site doesn't say yet), and shipping is $15-25, I'd rather just pick it up on my lunch break. :)

I picked one up for $150 from provantage, shipped in 3 days... better than waiting, IMO.

I just found out that just about most of your AGP cards and PCI-E cards will need a slim 80x80x15mm fan for the VGA air duct or else it's simply too thick and won't fit.

I really think the VGA duct is an unnecessary feature. You've already got good airflow through the case, and as long as you have a good cooler on your video card, you really don't need it.
Plus it has no dust filter whatsoever. If I was to use it, I'd reverse it to that it exhausts the air.

Well, I finally figured out how to get techonweb to ship me my case!

I had gotten their email asking me to confirm the thing, but all the link they gave me did was take me to my invoice where my only options were to stare at the thing or to click the cancel button. I emailed them and they shipped my order yay!

They did the exact same thing to me. I clicked their link and it seemed like nothing happened so I emailed them. They told me it's shipping so yay as well!

They are still saying it's on backorder in the ordering process, though after reading here that they are telling you in person that it's in stock, I sent a pre-emptive letter to them telling them that I want the case shipped as soon as it comes available, with no further confirmation necessary.

Either way, I think I got the bases covered. I'm willing to wait a bit for the lower price under current circumstances.

so, I dunno if this will help, but for techonweb buyers...on the page that the link sends you to, you should see your order listed and beneath it, should be two buttons; one labeled "cancel" and the other labeled "process". Clicking "process" will have them ship your order. They also say that its first come first serve, so just a hypothesis, but they could have gone through their second shipment already if you took a while and are still on backorder.

Mine is already in my state and will be here Tuesday! Yay! :D

I just got done emailing their tech support, and they DO have them in stock now-- they are fulfilling backorders first, and will then update the site to show availability-- mine shipped today :D

Yup, got an "In-Stock" email from them this AM. :)

I received my case in two days from shopblt.com and they were very informative with their emails and the case came in perfect working order.

Yea, as big as they are and as much business as they do you'd think they'd maybe be one of the first places to have it. Geez, they had the Sonata II pretty much before anyone else.

mine will be here wed from techonweb.....and my invoice never had the process button only the cancel button...

So my system is all running now in this case. I have 4x120mm nexus quiet fans, the new zalman copper vga fan on my x850xt, and the zalman 7700 cooler on my 3500+. Harddrives are mounted in upper area with Smartdrive 2002 enclosures. I replaced my northbridge fan with a zalman passive cooler, and unplugged the stupid Abit OTES thing behind the cpu socket. VGA duct has been totally removed. All fans are set to just a tiny bit above minimum speed with zalman fanmate controllers.

cpu fan = 1000rpm
exhaust and intake casefans = 650rpm
psu chamber casefan = 850rpm
vga fan = 1650rpm

This thing is QUIET. Honestly, my fridge makes more noise, and it's a room and a half away.

My temps run about 62L/42I for the video card and 58L/48I for the cpu. Sure, that's pretty warm, but not dangerous to the components and like I said I am using slow quiet fans running as slow as possible.

I couldn't be happier!

Oh, and I'll add that NCIX.com has been stocking these cases since last week. They are usually really good to deal with, fast shipping, etc.

I have my dremel, saw, hammer and hot pockets ready for Total modification.... Be on the look out for a tricked out mod...

Is anyone missing parts from their box?

What exactly should it come with? My box was partially open when I picked it up-like the tape either gave away or something. So far i'm missing the motherboard screws...

NEVER MIND IT WAS HIDDEN BEHIND THE DRIVE CAGE

Nope, everything here. Sounds like you got one that was bought and then returned.

sorry bout that false alarm, i was about to have a hernia after breaking out all my parts to find no screws... but after shaking everything I heard the screws.

But the box came with the tape barely holding the top or bottom i'm amazed how it wasn't damaged or missing...technoweb

have fun cutting through the steel

Any suggestions on additional fans for the case?

It can support 2x more 120mm in the front? I read that you have to get thinner ones though cause it impedes with the rails?

Also an 80mm for VGA duct?

Any suggestions? Just go Panaflo? Did you guys also replace the stock fans as well?

The regular size 120x25mm fans fit in the front. Panaflo is always a good option. I have Mechatronics fans since they are good, quiet, and cheap.

Anyone planning to get the SilentPC edition? Is the only thing that's different about it is the color (being black)?

Thats it, only the color. I will be getting one once there out a little cheaper the silver reminds me too much of a mini fridge.

Thats what I thought, but as soon as I took my beauty out of the box, it looks NOTHING like fridge. Im glad I didnt' wait and pay up the ass for the black SPCR edition.

Im waiting till Antec produces thair own black version after the spcr edition is out. Should be alot cheaper.

For anyone that's wondering whether or not to get one (because of whatever reasons), I'm being sent one to review within the next couple of weeks so I can try to pickup on any points / answer any questions you have about the case...

I'm also getting a Phantom 500 PSU so I can check out that configuration in more detail (if I can get it in!). TBH, with that 120mm monster in front of the PSU I doubt even the Phantom 500 would need a fan at all! Should make a pretty quiet system.

As I said, any queries / concerns you want covered mention them below or pop an email to reviews*at*gamezuk.com

(*at* obviously being an '@' to avoid detection by spammers' crawlers!)

Got mine today! I also had to explain to my mom and dad why there was this huge computer case at the door when they came home today. (My mom isn't too big a fan of me spending money on building a computer) My dad however offered to help give me money for my build as a birthday gift.

Also, I am trying to figure out the best way to watercool this baby. I was hoping to be able to cut out the bottom 5.5" bay and the 3.5" bay to make room for a PA160, but from my preliminary measurements I made today it looks like I am 3-4mm short

Yeah, I think you'd have to mount it to the rear or top...if it doesn't make contact with the mobo and there's anough distance between it and the CPU block.

It's really not a case for watercooling. :(

Well, now they don't have it. Doesn't even show up. What's with that?

No idea, but I got my order in before they took it down. I should have it by Friday.

What's a PA160?
Seems to me this case is perfect for a dual 120mm rad in the top since there's no PSU to get in the way.
