Im shopping for video cards now and come across this benchmark http://youtu.be/Aiz7HCdGEic

my "wish list" / shopping cart got that 660ti changed with a 7950! :D:D:D:D
it's even $10 less expensive

Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5
PCI-Express 3.0, "Windforce 3X", 1xDL-DVI-I, native-HDMI, 2xmini-DisplayPort

VS

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660Ti 2GB PhysX
PCI-Express 3.0, "Windforce 2X", GDDR5, DVI-D+DVI-I, HDMI, DP, 1032MHz

Look at that! OWNED ^^

I can't view that benchmark, but i'd choose either one based on what games are more important to you. The 660Ti in particular 'owns' in Crysis 3, while the 7950 has a few other titles it 'owns' in. To suggest one 'owns' the other is just inept though.

Say again?

You probably should base your purchasing decisions off more benchmarks than just Battlefield 3 @ 1080p.

That said, I would probably opt for a 7950 over a 660Ti myself. But read more reviews and see about other games. Unless BF3 is the only game you care about.

I have the 7870 with that 3 fan cooler, it's great. It's super quiet and cools just as well.

AMD cards are awesome this round, but I'll explain it like I do to my customers: it depends on what you want to play.

this game seems to be very close. but i think 7950 is the clear winner anyways. with one extra fan and more ram and more display ports. i dont know who will release the drivers in the future that are best but hey look at the chart for warhead. it is a more matured game.

Kid with 50 posts in 5 months argues that the 7950 is better than 660ti. Throws around pretty graphs to prove his point. Argues that amd card beats competitor card in fps in an almost 5 year old game. Argues that AMD's 2nd tier card 'owns' the competition's 3rd tier card by 1fps in current game.

troll.

Move along folks.

achieves same result.

The "card tiers" are not so relevant when you bring price into the equation. The HD7950 is, in general, cheaper. Especially when you want a card with a decent cooler. I have no experience with the drivers of AMD, so I can't comment that. But assuming they work, the 7950 is a more logical choice as it seems to be faster in most benchmarks/games.

7950 completely "owning" the 660ti? Hardly. They're so close, it would be impossible to distinguish in a side by side "which is which" test for almost any game with almost any user.

That being said, I tend to agree that the 7950 is the better bang for the buck choice if the buyer does not care about multi-GPU use and doesn't care about the ability to use PhysX or Adaptive Vsync. My opinion, anyway.

Crysis Warhead is not Crysis 3. Are you just looking to argue about your own purchase?

Crysis 3 comparison:

1362959270a9V2nme9e6_4_2.gif

There's a flaw in that comparison. They're not using the same settings, so it's invalid. Most benchmarks use the same exact settings to get a comparable. [H] benchmarks use the maximum playable (iirc), so comparison isn't exactly equal.

Not saying your claim isn't correct, just that the offered comparison isn't valid in this context.

Crysis 3 comparison:

Not to mention the 660Ti is achieving higher frames with a higher level of AA.

Look at the settings dude. The 660Ti is in this case actually using higher settings and scoring higher FPS. The 7950 is running FXAA, while the 660Ti is running SMAA. If you had the 660Ti run FXAA it would score even higher.

One should also keep in mind that the 7950 'Boost' is overclocked marginally. The 660Ti is just as much of a beast when it comes to overclocking. Overclock both a decent amount and that gap would likely widen. Now, this is just in Crysis 3 and a few other select titles where the 660Ti is running better.

The point of this though is that neither card 'owns' the other. At best you could say they own eachother in select titles. All that means though is that they are equal.

Here. Clearly says 13.2 Beta 7.

If only you had looked at the Apples to Apples page of the review.

Is it so hard to look at a game performance review done by the site whose forum you're posting on?

After Crisis 3 was released AMD came out and said the developers only gave them a day to review the final code and that's why Radeon sucks.

Hard to believe when the game says AMD Gaming Evolved at the start.
If true, that's means AMD didn't evolve gaming and it's all a lie.

Doesnt matter if he overclocks the 7950 to 1100 mhz it will beat an overclocked 660 ti in every game anyways

Ok then show me a 660 ti overclcoked that can beat an overclocked gtx 680?You see the 7950 can do that. Its not even close when both are overclocked.actually a 660 ti is closer to a 7870 then it is a 7950

To me its a toss up. The 7950 is alot faster once overclocked. Those benchmarks in this thread, and showing a boost edition dont show its true potential. Most 7950's hit 1150/1575 with ease, with those clocks it can match or even beat a 680 gtx and 7970 GE.

But the 660TI, which can be overclocked etc, has way better driver support, and is alot smoother when gaming (and I totally agree 110% it is smoother).

So If you dont mind fuckin with drivers and settings, and want better performance get a 7950.

If you want to plug in a card, overclock a lil bit and not fuck with settings, get a 660ti (and have a smoother experience).

This whole smooth buisness was mostley dealing with crossfire. If were speaking of frame latency well thats been resolved with 13.2 beta 7 drivers.I have owned an equal amount of nvidia and amd cards and really it is getting tiring of hearing how supposedly amd drivers are crap well guess what? There every buit as good as nvidia. The only place where nvidia gets an edge is sli vs crossfire and even then its close to a tossup.smooth what do you mean smooth?I own a 7950 and its every bit as smooth as my gtx 480 which has what?3 year old matured drivers?I got to be honest here i might go sli 660 ti over 7950 crossfire but as far as single gpu goes the 660 ti isnt even in the same class with the 7950.7950 easily reaches gtx 680 performance with 1050-1100 on the core so in essense its like comparing a gtx 660 ti to a gtx 680 there is no comparison.Add in the 2 gb vram vs 3 gb and its a no brainer which card is superior.Only people who own 660 ti seem to be the only ones who defend it.

Actually it is an issue with single cards too. I should know. I just started playing Skyrim again to play some dragonborn, with the new cat 13.2b7 (and I tried 13.2b6). I get massive stutter inside places when there is a shitload of lights for some reason. And this is using a 120hz monitor. It is so obvious. I have tried to cap the FPS at 119 and 120fps, and it dont do squat.

I also notice a bit of stuttering in BF3, and also Hitman.

AMD has better performance, but it isnt smooth.

Nvidia has less performance, but its alot smoother...

So it depends on what you are willing to deal with.

I got battlefield 3 and in both single card and dual config i get no chop at all.AMD has struggled with hitman ill agree.Ill have to try skyrim on my 7950 to see whats up.The only time ive seen any chppiness at all was in farcry 3 with crossfire enabled but even now with the latest drivers that seems cleaned up to.

I would say it could be because I had an old windows install, but this is after a fresh windows 7 install as well.

I mean I tried everything. I dunno I'm almost to the point where im going to spend the extra $$ on Nvidia.

I love overclocking and fucking with my AMD card. It's fully unlocked unlike the Nvidia cards....but I'm starting to get to the point where I dont give a fuck, and I just want to play.

The whole smooth business is not just crossfire. for me far cry 3 was unplayable with a 7950 because the micro stutter was so awful. Skyrim had the problem too, every time I was indoors, stutter.

And not all 7950s overclock so well.

I really dont understand where and why you guys are having these problems.Ive owned 4 7950's and havent had the issues you both have. These could just be isolated issues.90% of 7950's will hit 1100 on the core with no voltage tweak so most do overclock like monsters. My lowest clock of the 4 was 1125 mhz and that was a 7970 my 50's all clocked higher.Im installing skyrim now the last time i played that i think i had sli gtx 460's lol so will see what happens

90% huh...

There was a thread on toms hardware few hundred peeps participated and ya oer 90% were getting 1100 mhz.Thats about the norm with these cards look around do your research before rolling your eyes. Some hit 1300 mhz but with voltage tweaks.Something tells me if you actually owned one you should know this.Or are you just a nvidia fanboy looking to bash wiithout even knowing your facts?

So now you're calling me a liar? I did own one, anything over 900mhz and it was unstable. But lets throw around the fanboy insult... Considering you're the one disputing the stuttering issue I mentioned in the two games where amd stuttering is a well known issue who's the real fanboy here? Skyrim indoors stutter is a known issue and Google far cry 3 amd micro stutter... fc3 was by far the worst, according to fraps I was getting a steady 60fps but it played like 15fps.

wow thread went downhill fast. so such thing as microstutter with a single card. If you got stuttering you got hardware config problems and need to check into that.....

Sorry man its not hardware. Its Software.

And its the truth......No other way to sugar coat it.

And how the fuck would you even know? We're talking first hand experience here and your main rig rocks a fucking 4870... Clearly you're just going off others options here so don't come in blaming others for the issues when you clearly don't know wtf you're even talking about. Fucking amd fanboys...

You could always Google the issue and find there are literally thousands having the same issues our you can pretend to know because you read it from a fanboys post that it don't exist.

I have a 7950 overclocked to 1150/1500 super stable, haven't tried to go any higher because I'm quite satisfied already.

The 7950 should be compared to the 670, 660ti vs the 7870.
