You have to wait for specials on seller fees if you want to unload high priced items. They have deals like a 50% off final value fees or a cap at $20 or something like that. Otherwise it's a 10-15% hit between ebay and Paypal fees.
They can get away with it because of the sheer number of views. You will definitely fetch a higher price on ebay, but you'll pay the highest fees.
U/Hardwareswap
Strange, I've had good results from eBay and that sub.
He said it was hardwareswap on reddit. What sub?
I’ve been here over a decade with at least 75 transactions here and have never had a single problem. I’m very selective about who I sell to and buy from, but haven’t had any issues. Just a different experience I suppose.I've only had 1-3 sales on here go well out of 10 attempts.
If it were me, I'd just sell it to family or maybe FB.

Most of the issues I've had have been people who were interested, asked a bunch of questions, wanted picts of the component (so I had to rip my machine apart) and then 2 weeks later offered less than the initial agreement or backed out entirely.
2 transactions ago I did a trade & the other person didn't ship everything & stopped answering email or logging into the forums....

Same, both buying and selling
Plenty of tire kickers around, i've done it on occasion when I have an interest in something but have not yet fully made up my mind on if I want it, it's usually when I recognize it's an impulse buy, like if someone is selling a GPU or something for a very good price. I don't drag it on for 2 weeks, maybe a few messages at best and then I either buy or don't buy and I don't expect any seller to hold a product for me just because i'm asking questions. As a seller, I certainly wouldn't. I'll answer whatever questions they want within reason but if someone else comes in with a no haggle "i'll take it" then i'm selling and my next message to the other party would be "thanks for your interest but the product is sold"
A lot also depends on what you're asking. I don't have much time to waste, or want to waste trying to sell hardware so I try to price it to move fast.
Ebay fees for many electronics are 4%. Probably because there is a highly competitive market for electronics. Collectible type items have 10% and ebay is unmatched for those items. Typically, even accounting for the 4% fee on ebay, I've been getting better prices than here as of late. Last few times I tried to sell hardware here I got a lot of low ball offers. I feel safer on [H] personally so I still prefer to sell here, and you can still get a fair deal. In general I'd think sellers/buyers are more truthful here. Had a great experience with a buyer a few years ago here which is why I always list here first. If I don't get traction or offers a lot lower than I am wanting I go to ebay.
I have had a very unpleasant experience selling at ebay and how much they take out of seller fees. What are alternative places to sell on ebay
