which is faster out of these two? say both in 128mb agp.
9800Pro (R350 - 380/680, 256bit, 8 pipes, DX9)
6600 - (NV43 - 300/550, 128bit, 8 pipes, DX9.0c)

9800Pro is faster than the 6600. However the 6600GT is faster than the 9800Pro usually (in some games the 9800Pro is faster though).

i think he meant 9800pro..

i know 6600gt is faster than 9800pro  , but that wasn't my question.

so how fast is 6600? similar to 9700pro?

9800 Pro: 380 MHz core (3040 MTexels/s); 256-bit 680 MHz DDR mem (21.76 GB/s)

6600: 300 MHz core (2400 MTexels/s); 128-bit 500 MHz DDR mem (8.0 GB/s)

9700 also owns the 6600 in memory performance.. the 6600 is more in line with a 9600XT in terms of raw performance (it's also roughly in between an X600 Pro and an X600 XT).

The 6600 has its enhanced feature set in its favor though.

hmm so 6600 isn't that good cos 6600gt isn't much more.. i guess u need min 6600gt for 6800le for decent gaming..

actually its a good deal for a 100$ card (6600).. i mean 6600gts go for about 190-200$ish so i dont see how you can compare one to the other. 9800pro is a good card. but a 6600 is also a good card for 100$. my friend got a 6600 refurb from newegg for 66$ and it oc's like a champ and gets nice frames in games.

6600's are a little more than $100 since the 6200's go for that much. The prices on the 6600GT's are dropping into the $170-175 range if you find a deal. The 9800Pros can be had for as little as $140-150 (256-bit, 128mb version...not that junk 128-bit version). I think that 6600 can OC well past the 300mhz core. You might get a good deal if you OC that 6600 up to near GT speeds on the core. Probably comparable to the 9800Pro, but for $140, the 9800 Pro is still a good deal.
