hi, i realy need a new vid card, well not new, but i plan on buying one from newegg for about a hundred bux. i plan on getting a powercolor 9800pro refurb. now, the question is, which would be better performance, 256 MB of ram with a 128-mbit interface, or 128 MB of ram with a 256-mbit interface? thanx for helping me out with the answer

I think i remember hearing somewhere that the 256bit 128 meg versions are meant to OC better as well. But this was a while back...so the details are fuzzy to me.

Ahh, stupid marketing hype, ram does not make a card faster, it gives you more bandwidth for higher resolutions. The 128MB 256bit interface would be much faster than the 256MB with 128bit interface at any playable settings.

128mb ram with 256bit by far, guaranteed. :)

if i pumped up aa and af high enough at lets say, 1600*1200, the 256 MB with 128 mbit would be faster but not by much and it wouldnt be playable on either card anyway?

Depends, at those settings you better be talking about UT2k4, RTCW, CS 1.6, rather than FEAR, CoD2, Quake4...
