980 Ti

While I think 60 constant is my goal in everything I am flexible in saying as long as it never dips below 40 I am perfectly content. 30FPS is also acceptable* but nothing lower.

*acceptable - don't want it this low but I can tolerate it.

I personally prefer constant 40 to framerate fluctuating between 40 and 60 all the time, that's when frame limiter comes in handy.

Is anyone else having an issue where the fan speed jumps to 100% as soon as you load into Windows? This is happening to me all of the sudden, after a month of owning the card.

If I disable and re-enable it in device manager, it fixes it until I reboot, at which point it happens again.

Are you running afterburner or precision? If so, make sure your fan settings are correct, reset to default. If It didn't do it before, check temps? Maybe reseat the card? Hows the card running? Any artifacts?

I was running Afterburner, as well as a custom BIOS. I got rid of AB and reverted to my stock BIOS and even ran DDU and installed new drivers, and it still happens. Even the temp fix in my last post quit working. The fan goes down when disabling the card, but it goes right back up again when re-enabling it. Adjusting the speed manually does nothing. Temps are fine. I can try reseating it.

Edit: No change after reseating. I guess I have a bum card, though it's strange that it only happens when the driver is enabled. Something in there is telling it to run at 100%.

Edit2: I think it's just busted. The fan RPM reports as 0, so the fan speed sensor is not working. The driver is probably maxing it out due to that. Time for an RMA and 2+ weeks of no games. Fun. :(

Well just got a bit lucky, fell into a spare pricy mobo (censored to protect my privacy)... So after I sell it off, that will push my budget over the edge for the 980 Ti. Guess I'm setting up an auto-notify for the Classified.
Too bad I couldn't get those 970/980 price match deals this week. Would have saved so much money.

edit: Edited out an important detail to prevent myself from being shafted.

I said weeks ago Bluesaber will own every GTX 980 Ti by the end of summer, it seems I was right.
He only needs Zotac & Galaxy HOF to sweep the board.

Batman is a buggy POS, i'd say it was a good change, I only manged to sell my codes for $12

That sucks I have two arriving today. Was hoping to get more than that to offset price. Maybe I can bitch and newegg will give me the MGS ones in exchange.

You didn't hear the news that the PC version was so bad they pulled it off the shelves?

Damn dude...you put the hex on me....I just started my computer this morning and the fans blasted to like 500% right when windows loaded....WTF?

I unchecked my custom fan protocol in afterburner and rebooted and it was back to normal, but it never did that earlier even with custom fan setting on?

The problem was intermittent for me. It went away after the first reboot but happened again a few hours later, and then happened more often than not after that. I'm RMAing it tomorrow.

Hopefully yours was just a temporary thing due to AB, and not a broken fan sensor like mine.

Just to clarify...Was your fan speeds jumping to 100% just on start up or even during gaming and windows use? I just noticed the fan boosting to 100% on windows start up, but it works normally in games with my custom fan protocol and on auto. If your card works other then startup, how did you or the manufacturer come up with a broken fan sensor?

It would go to 100% and stay at that speed.

Why would a Classified be better than the Gigabyte Gaming version?
Haven't seen any Classy reviews yet. Could be a more robust PCB; EVGA gets priority on cherry picked GPUs as well. Safe to assume the G1 cools better, though.
He got rid of the G1 due to coil whine, I don't blame him.

I would like to upgrade my GTX980 SLI to a GTX980Ti SLI.
What is the best way to do this upgrade without loosing too much money?

I can't understand why manufacturers doesn't do "an upgrade plan".
I would like to pay an annual fee to have my hardware up to date.

evga has step up program but with 980 ti's you already getting the highest. I don't think they let you upgrade from 980 ti's to titan x. And pascal will be over 3 months wait. But something to think about for pascal 1080s

Honestly, you are NOT hurting with a 980 SLI. Wait for Pascal, your just throwing money away for around a 15-20% performance increase

EVGA does the 90 day step up program to select cards, usually reference and acx.

Other than that, sell them in the FS thread.
