Joy! I've been waiting for This exact fix!

lool...get with the times brent its 3dmark06 performance were looking for now

looks like this version doesnt require you to install .net framework 1.1. Im glad they have finally embraced .net 2.0...

the decoder is a good function and will come in very handy, it went quite smooth with the instalation nothing seems different lol

Sorry to be a n00b, but do I need to uninstall the old ones first?

And is it still ok to DL the driver only from the Low-Speed section?

Yeah, I'd uninstall the old ones, run DriverCleaner in Safe Mode and then install the new ones.

The tick box in my overdrive section is greyed out for the option to preserve settings at logon.
Has this happend to anyone else?

Is it recommended to uninstall old cats first (6.2) to install new ones, or is it same to install over the old ones?

ta

never mind.. answered above :p

sat on the edit post too long :p

I tried it out, this morning. COD 2 does play better with 6.3 @ 1024x768 w/ Soft Shadows off. Can't wait to test LOTR Battle for Middleearth 2, when I get back home. Overdrive isn't no longer in the suite, so no overclocking for me :(

That is right!

I'm still using 5.13, LOL. I don't think the drivers are making anymore improvements to my card, it's as great as it can be. I'll bench 5.13, do a cleaning, then install and bench 6.3 to see if I get any improvements.

Mine works, did you click on the little lock to unlock that part? Once you do that, you should be able to pick the preserve overdrive setting at logon option.

Yea, it was already unlocked from before. I can tick the box when i first open the catalyst, but then as soon as i move the slider it greys out.

I had the same thing happen with my 1900xtx and 6.2. Not sure about the cause.

Nice find by someone at Rage3D. There is a new CP out for the 6.3's for all you CCC haters. It's a messy method but it works.

http://rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33847951

FINALLY!! I have business users who absolutely cannot deal with the .Net runtime BS on their machines. The Catalyst with the good 'ol CP is just fine.

Good find, albeit one has to fish through ATI's website to get to the Catalyst/CP download.

Thank the gods. I hate CCC with a passion.

Why do most people hate the CCC????

I've been using it for a while with .NET 2 installed and I haven't had any issues.

at the 9800 pro level do monthly updates actually improve anything or should i be fine with the 6.2 for a while. With My other pc im getting the 6.3s the one in my sig.

This new driver is a piece of crap.

If I set my refresh rate higher than 60hz the screen goes black and won't come back.

I hate ATI drivers sooooo much. This is making me so mad that I wanna break something.

Stick with the 6.2s. Once your video card is 2 generations old, (or even 1 gen. old, usually) the performance increases stop coming, in general. Unless the release notes explicitly say differently.

Are you sure you are setting a res/refresh rate that your monitor supports? Most LCDs can only handle 60hz by the way.
If you can't figure out, let me be the first to say that I will take that x1800xt off your hands for a reasonable price....

With the 6.2's I was running at 75hz just fine (The monitor supports up to 75), once I update only 60 works. Amazing drivers....
