4870x2 Xfire pics :)

Yes I know the Velociraptors don't put out the heat like the old Raptors, but I'd still try them in the bottom bay so nothing but cool intake is pulled over the NB.
 
going from 1.4v to 1.28v dropped it to 63 under load, still seems stable heh

So far: using Fraps for 3 minute segments. Vista HomePremium x64. Dell 24" monitor at 1920 X 1200, widescreen.

HL2 WhiteForest highest settings, 24XCFAA: average 95 fps (three runs)
COD4: Bog Level Initial combat at the M1 Tank: highest settings,12X CFAA: average 93 fps (three runs)

I had some crap with Steam last night that I had to correct. Am going to run up Crysis for the sake of benching it later this evening.
I like the three way so far, it seems to help, especially adding the muscle to the AA, which is outrageous.
I know people will argue about the resolution, but for now it's all I have. I'm hoping Santa Claus will bring me a 30" for Christmas.:D
I had to use some 8.8 Betas I found on the net. 8.7 won't recognize Crossfire and the drivers on the disc with the X2 suck.
My temps are fine. Core 1 on the X2 gets to 70s in games, the other two Cores run in the 60sC.
I used the fan hack, I suppose I didn't need to but...........I set the fans on 45% manual.....it's a little loud but very cool.;)
 
That system looks nice..
specially with those cards having the Radeon Label on the side

yeah the free AA is nice, i haven't noticed any loss in performance going from 0, 2x or even 4x (12 edge detect) all the way up to 8x (24x edge detect)

I noticed a little chop every once in a while......but I think that's just driver related. I'm hoping there will be some real drivers out soon.

I got to confess, I really like this X2. I think I'm just going to throw in the towel and buy another one.
 
yeah im impressed with them , cant wait for d3 and sc2 to come out

and yea i think these cards will improve alot in the next couple of driver releases, and possibly taking advantage of the disabled sideport feature

BigCactus, you might check this thread out about enabling your MB to run the card when you get it.

I guess there's a switch hidden under a sticker on your board that needs switched.

Wow your rig is beautiful! :eek: I've always wanted an all black setup and your's is just pulled off so elegantly. Man, I recently just pieced together the rig in my sig too and thought that it was pretty badass. Haha, looking at your rig mine doesn't even compare. :D Oh well, such is life, lol. Congrats on the wonderful setup man! Here's hoping that maybe I'll be able to afford a single 4870x2 in the next few months and call it quits until next year. I can dream... ;)

Yah, I've done some searching on this and it seems to be a valid issue. I did see a post that resolved this issue with this particular board:

For the Abit IX38 Quad GT specifically, flashing to bios v10 seems to resolve it according to this post:

This would leave me to believe that it's more of a bios issue with these x38 boards.

At least you can flash prior to getting the card and just be up a running once it's delivered. :)
 
Yah, my $25 pci-e 6200 LE back up video card is really proving to be quite useful during these upgrades. I must say, everyone should have a nice cheap back up pcie video card on hand.

Come on this is [H], we need minimum fps, average fps, and max fps! Nice though...really need to bench that sniper level where you have to low crawl through the grass. Nice scores though.
 
Seems like the right thread for this question:
This is a pretty trivial concern, but I hate card stickers with crappy anime or Lara Croft wannabes on them. I like the Diamond and HIS 4870X2s with the simple RADEON sticker on the top and side of the shroud. I'm thinking of picking up a Visiontek card for the warranty, price and the fact that they actually have them in at NCIX. Does anyone have a pic of a Visiontek 4870X2 so I can see what the card looks like?
 
i think if you go to ncix.com they have all the models on the right hand side

the HIS looks the best IMO, i hate the anime crap they plaster on stuff now
 
I peeled the "anime" sticker right off of my Asus 4850. Funnily, there was a much more attractive "ATI Radeon" sticker underneath.

I ordered an HiS card because it was in stock. However as an added bonus they don't have any of that BS on the heat sink.
 
and you get a screw driver / flashlight tool :)

screw driver kinda sucks but its handy in a pinch , the led flashlight comes in handy since i can never find mine when i need them
 
They only show the box art on the NCIX page. Smae with VIsiontek's website. If the card art looks like the box, I'd be okay with that. Sounds like there's usually that simple Radeon sticker underneath on most cards anyway.

lol ive heard bad things about their "lifetime" warranty but i would hope not... some companies will do anything to get out of warranty

ati needs to find an evga/bfg who doesn't have their life signed away to nvidia

eVGA wanted to go the ATI route but got shot down. Hopefully with ATI cards gaining more and more ground over nVidia another one of its partners will start offering a lifetime warranty. We can only pray!

Canada you are a bad influence, I just ordered a new Corsair 1000HX and another Sapphire 4870x2 haha...

hopefully everything in my SFF won't melt =P...I had to purchase an external optical in order to fit the massive 1000HX in my case

I dont know if its just because crysis and ati sucks but what about other games?

I love the way the cards look though.

On my 8800 ultra SLI system (qX9650 @ 4.0)
I would get 32.74 with the same Very high settings except at 1920X1200 instead of 1920X1080. but without AA. So it seems like the two 4870x2's are comparing almost to that system, which is kind of depressing:(

If you can get other benchies that would be great.

Crysis is optimized for nVidia cards.
They developed the game for the 8800's basically.
 
yeah crysis is a bad "benchmark"

was nothign more than somethign to make nvidia look good it seems
