I was thinking, if the 4850 is this good, and so far it seems to be, the 4870 should be a very exciting card for everyone involved...

Ahh, thanks guys! Newegg will most likely be in full gouge mode when they are released. I may try to grab one if they are 300 and I can find one at one of the online shops. I'd be happy with one or two 4850's but the heat output is too high on these cards. It's hot enough in my office already.
Will there be huge gains in using DDR5 vs DDR3 of the 4870 vs 4850? I just picked up two 4850 cards for $161.61 each (for myself and gf, after taxes in Cali).
I went from a Radeon 9800Pro ( that card served me surprisingly well), to a now integrated graphics solution (within the last 2 months - very temporary as I'm in the middle of upgrading, I'm a poor college student LoL...), to the 4850.
I thought the release/launch date was Wednesday the 25th???
Or did it change again?
If it can play Crysis at 1680 with most stuff on High this will be my next card.
HD 4870 will do around 46FPS in Crysis all high 1680x. Crossfire will do 61 FPS @ 1920x all high.
