Got, P3762 3DMarks

With AMD X6 @ 4Ghz and GTX 460 760mb 900/1800/2100

This is a nvidia beachmark. again. holy crap...

my i7 @ 4.4Ghz HT on with a 5870 2gb @ 930/1200 got P4723. <--- Something is very wrong for that score.

And my Asus G73 got a P2303 with i7 820qm + 5870 1Gb

looks like my 9550+gtx480 > i7 870+gtx460:D

and i nearly spend $800 bucks for an i7 system, good that i held off.

lol using 3dmark11 as a justification to why you didnt spend 800 dollars for an i7 system. could of thought of a 100 different reasons why not to and 3dmark software is definitely not one of them.

It's all about tesselation. NVIDIA 400+ series gpus do a great job at displaying high tesselation quality.

I noticed this when I went from AMD HD6850 to GTX470. NVIDIA looks much better.

I think the reason why newer NVIDIA cards run slower and hotter than newer AMD video cards is because there is alot more going on with the NVIDIA processing. More load at slower speeds doing more.

Only thing I can think of. When I had the HD6850 I could easily get it to go 1GHZ on the core and with the NVIDIA GTX470 I'm lucky to get 830mhz on the core with stock cooling and the fan at 100%.

Barely an increase in performance. Looks like this benchmark is more about the GPU performance than CPU performance.

Yeah it didn't seem to matter much..I turned it back to 4ghz and will keep tuning the 5870s and see how that goes..

Is this an overclocked Q9550? This is quite a high score.

I don't think quite that high. The best overclockers are only to 15,357 so far.

The best over clocker single HD5870 with stock cooling Vantage score has been beating by a relatively moderately over clocked GTX570 on stock cooling as well.

single HD5870 Vantage 25,900 @1,150/1,300MHz

Single GTX570 Vantage 27,987 @900/1150MHz

Based on these results I don't think it will be a problem for 2xGTX570 in SLI to reach 12,000+ in 3DMark11

I suppose it's possible with heavy overclocks. So far the top person with SLi 480s only has P11166 though there is no way to know the clocks. I'm guessing they are very high as there are other guys over at EVGA forums who are getting about 9,000 with SLI 480s.

There is also a guy with 3x 470s overclocked and he is getting just shy of 10,000.

Thats pretty good considering my crossfire setup gets around 30000 with Vantage..

I'm a little disappointed to have one of the lowest scores in this thread and a quite capable (and recently built computer).

I7-920 overclocked to 4.0ghz
EVGA X58
Galaxy GTX460 1GB Super O/Ced edition
12GB DDR3 RAM
OCZ Vertex 2

.......I don't even break 4K. (3850) Do my scores look low?

I guess I shouldn't care because I don't have a SINGLE game that I can't run at max settings...at perfectly playable framerates (that I've tried anyway)

EDIT - 4/20/2011

I upgraded to a GTX 560 ti and now my score is 4419 (unoptimized - no overclock on the graphics card, no driver optimizations, no trickery, I didn't even close open programs - just ran it.)

That is the average 3DMark 11 GPU score on most gtx460 I've seen. So yours is normal.

I'd like to run a test on my GTX470 but right now my Windows 7 is down. Waiting for SSDs for fresh W7 install.

I feel better now. We have pretty close systems.

I too have no issues playing anything as yet either. Wish sli would work.
