If you want to see how any change affects your computer, get PCMark04. 3Dmark was made speciffically for graphics cards

His point was probably that in Games, CPU's can make a big difference in game play too. Not only the videocard.
Look at most games... and the difference in a 1Ghz P3 and 3Ghz P4 is huge.

However, in something like 3dMark the 1Ghz with a high end videocard(5900) can beat the snot out of a 3Ghz P4 with mid range videocard(ti4600). Which is not accurate of game performance.
(just some old examples, that I had benched with)

And yeah, as ZenOps mentioned, XLR8R, that one was pretty cool if not the coolest :cool:
And it had a Egg too, click the left nipple of the robot on the main screen and some headbanging dude came up that you could control with your mouse, pretty funny, for a few secs atleast :p
 
3dMark01 includes the CPU but I feel it's extremly far off. People with 3.6ghz and 9800 Pro's beat my score with an a64 3000+ and a 6800U.

all the 3d marks will turn into a system test. 01 was designed to stress the card is dx8..(or was it 7??) and now those are long gone and the cards are so fast that now its the system that matters more in those games. the same thing is now happening to 03. iwth my GT, i see a 200pt increase when i up my processor speed 100mhz. its only a matter of time before 03 is in the same place as 01

So we either get a new letter like N99,999,999
or the downloads.

I would think that they would want to open the door to downloads on the weekend when traffic might be lighter. But for Press Release purposes you would think that they would want a weekday.

so 8:45pm tonight we get N99...+ 27.7 hours = a little after midnight Sunday... or Monday am. ? Maybe a good release date/time.

Downloads could start at off peak hours (after midnight). Press Release would be dated 9-27 (on a Monday). O-W-N ?

Is everyone mad because Futermak '05 isn't out? Or because they made you think, and actually deduce that it was a decimical clock with 5*10^4 metric seconds until the download that you couldn't stomach?
 
I think its the fact that playing games, is annoying to most people. I dont see any good from it, they are getting more bad press, than good. From what I have been reading.
 
i think people just dont wanna be messed with

to many false promises and bs this year already, missing cards, recalled patches, delayed games etcetc
 
Well, yeah, they're getting bad press. But, exactly WHY is it annoying to most people?

Like, I'm not trying to start a flame, or anything. But was it hard for people to figure out, or just plain a hassle? It took me like 2 minutes to figure that it was a metric clock, and then google information for a metric clock to figure out the times. This takes no more then 5 minutes. Is this 5 minutes too much of a hassle, or am I missing something?
 
Yeah, I can understand how people don't wanna be messed with by Futuremark 'cause of things in the past. And alot of other stuff. But, I'm just talking about the clock itself.
 
Because to the casual eye, it looked like a 0, not O. They did this on purpose, and if the letters spell out what it looks like it might, its going to be even more annoying. Not many people like playing childish games, no matter what the occasion. The only time I can think of that I like it, is spin the bottle. :eek:

I don't know what they're trying to pull. Apparently, they did countdowns for 99 and 01, but I didn't care enough to see them back then.

Since you're so much smarter than everyone else here, maybe you can answer some of my questions..........

- What is a decimical clock? Is it anything like a Decimal clock?
- Is this something they will use in the futer?
- How is math fun in the context of the release of a 3D benchmarking program?

Personally I don't see the point in playing these silly games with their countdown. I only need to know when their product will be released, I've got better games to play than Futuremark '05 countdown game........ooooh, what fun!! :rolleyes:

Did you read the thread....no one knows. Thats why there all so pissy, the counter doesnt actually tell us when its coming.
 
Dunno if im gonna download it anyway, it's just an overhyped benchmark, sure, it's good for comparing machines, just not gameplay.

Even worse, they dont even host their programs themselfes, you have to go to some mirror, usually containing alot of banners and crap, slow connections so you have to try several of those mirros, and some of the mirror links are even broken, that norwegian one and a german one too :rolleyes:

Atleast they should host their own programs, the advertisements inside the programs could prolly cover the hosting/servers.

Does anyone know if you register for pro version then the advertisements disappear, or do you have to look at them eventhough you paid for the program ?
