3DMark 2011 is out

You're a brave one... usually I cringe whenever someone mentions 3DMark here because it's usually followed by an inferno of flames. 'Blah blah go play a real game yadda yadda'

I don't hate on 'em... Although I don't use it for benchmarking so much anymore it's still a nice way to show off that fancy new GPU you paid out the ass for. :)

Keep in mind SLI does not work yet. According to FM this an nvidia driver issue. So if you want SLI you can try running a modded inf file from some quadro drivers. Or you can wait for an nvidia response whic will hopefully come soon.

I used to think of 3DMark06 as kind of a game. So many people had it, and was sort of like tuning the system for that extra 1000 points lol.

I might just download it for old times sake.

How can SLI not work, and then be NVIDIA fault when SLI works fine in actual games and games it often doesnt work in is the fault of the game dev...

3dmark was nice back in the day, i dont see it worth anything these days and with them removing the ORB for older versions.... wont ever have a use for it again.

Ewww 3D Mark..

I'll download it to try once and see the pretty but thats it.

Edit : Wow ..lots of bugs with it. It won't even start for me just crashes instantly... fail.

Is it prettier than 06? I did not like vantage.

Well it doesn't work with Nvidia SLI of any kind right now. The GUI crashes are related to the client not the user.

Seems like they should have waited another few weeks to iron out the problems.

its because everyone makes a fuss about something that doesn't matter. sooner or later someone goes and says something stupid like card is faster the card b due to benchmarks 1, 2, and 3 when it relates to nothing you use it for. those that know better get sick to death of hearing about it. esp when people include it in reviews. if it actually related back to real world gameplay then I would be all over it. in actuality 3d marks has never been good for that.

but like you I do sometime like to see the tech runs. but to actually pay them money for this program is just plain dumb.

Graphics are pretty neat.. You see that most PC game are sooooo held up by console right now... ;)

I get more use out of tech demos from NVIDIA and ATI/AMD than I do from 3dmark. Once they went to the register and use once or give us money model I thought "why the fuck would I bother?"

know what I am doing when I get home....baha

It is really fun to show people the power of your PC though... when friends/family come over, I like to show it off with that and other ATI/NV demos

Yeah, an unmitigated joke. The only way I can get a run through is to disable their system info scan service, which results in my hardware being reported as...nothing. And likely them not running any of the DX11 features on the card(s).

And something tells me my little ol' i7-980x + 2 ATI 5970's + Win7 Ult. 64bit + 16GB DDR3 RAM wouldn't really score that "low".

the videos they've showed off look stunning.

I will definitely be checking this out at some point. Preferably at a time when my dual 470s will get somewhere....

Got, P3762 3DMarks

With AMD X6 @ 4Ghz and GTX 460 760mb 900/1800/2100
comparing these two results, sounds like Crossfire isn't really working very well either.

same here, after the third graphics test I get a black screen. Well that is futuremark for me guess. They always have bugs everytime they launch a new benchmark. Expect to run fully on every system a month after it comes out. I have to ctrl+alt+del out.

I dislike it. Alot.

Apprently you get a higher score if you have an intel cpu and nvidia video card.

Check my "reported" hardware. All 0s I had to turn off their SystemInfo gatherer service to even complete a run.

So I'd lay you odds it was just running a generic subset of tests not knowing what DX11 support the card(s) have, because they couldn't query what actual hardware I had.

Actually I have seen reported results where a XFired 6870 beat a 5970 and stomped a single nVidia 480GTX (beacuse SLI isn't working at all).

DX11 only kills it for me. No plan or desire to bother with DX11 hardware ever. I'll be waiting for the next big jump -- the only thing I've seen that's really worthwhile is tessellation and ATI's had fairly good tessellation support through proprietary extensions for a long while now... so I'm just not allowed to use the capabilities of the cards I already own, as far as I'm concerned.

Hoping that by the time the high end Sandy Bridge setups come out and are down to a sane price come ~Q1 2012, DX12 will be here as well. Not very likely, I know, but a guy can dream.

Well that means you can tell me what is wrong with this then,

:\

Your GPU test scores are crazy low for that card.

In short, their SystemInfo scanning service sucks (as I've found through debugging the crashes) and is likely the root cause of all these f**ked up scores across system configs.

I like how a lot of these have incorrect or 0'd GPU MB, core and memory clocks speeds.

If it was released in this state, it makes me wonder what the show stopping bug(s) was that caused them to shelf it for the past couple weeks :\

Mine keeps crashing.

Workload Single init returned error message: DXGI call IDXGIFactory1::CreateSwapChain failed:

The target window or output has been occluded. The application should suspend rendering operations if possible.

DXGI_STATUS_OCCLUDED

Unbelievable.

By the sound of it, about 75% of the users here are reporting it's running incorrectly.

Yup, I've seen that one as well. It's a clusterf**k of a programming job.

I was half about to buy the full version for the stress testing for my overclock experiments.

interestingly, my 2nd GTX470 showed 25% utilization during the "combined" test which supposedly uses the GPU for directcompute physics.
