It's at least believable. They're apparently making some kind of push on the Windows side of things tomorrow, too.People over at the Gamespot forums are saying if you call MS they will tell you May 8th 3:00AM PST... but then again it is the Gamespot forums.
I just heard from the Dashboard team that we'll have to wait at least another day for the Dashboard update to be released. The update is not being released in the next 24-hours. That is all I know at this time, but Ill get more information tomorrow afternoon (PT) and I will update this post as needed. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
No.I don't understand, with this new upgrade we will have 16:10?
so I could just go and brick my system updating
Dude, i have an elite which is not update proven. i will be very depressed if the elite bricks =[
Just get one of those lawyers that says "pay nothing unless we collect for you!!"
My major concern is that they hopefully haven't found a way to make the kb/m adapter useless. Cuz...if they did that, it would in effect "brick" my 360 because I would have no use for it. Call of Duty 3 with a gamepad? No thanks.....The only reason I got the kb/m adapter was to play Call of Duty 3 on the 360 because they didn't make it for the PC. So nyeh.
However, I am looking forward to several new racing games coming out this year. Forza 2, Burnout Paradize, and Dirt to mention 3.
Oh, and I love hot asian chicks.
Major Nelson just updated his site for the new dash update: ''Ok, were getting closer. I just learned that the May 07 dashboard release is set to be released just a few hours from now. To be more specific, the LIVE Operations team expects to start rolling out the update after 0200 PT tomorrow morning. Ill make another post when the team start the roll out.''
I will be asleep.![]()
I think it has something to do with color depth on the VGA. Or something like that. The colors definitely seem a bit more saturated to me, although that could be the placebo effect, I guess. I was never one of the guys bitching about the VGA output, though. Can anyone explain what I can change with "Reference Levels" (--> Settings)?

In any event, it's a nice little upgrade. I'm slightly shocked that the video marketplace stuff didn't get moved to the marketplace blade, but one thing at a time, I guess.

Someone I work with did the update and now their xbox wont read any games. MS said send it in and we will repair. Anyone heard of this issue?
This is fantastic. Can't wait to get home and try this. If I can just survive bricking the thing, hopefully everything will look better on my 2407 now.
No brick, no brick! Yay!
Nope. A guy here in another thread said his bricked from the update
IMO, it looks fantastic (on a HP f2105).
No washed-out colors anymore.
1080p rips at a supported bitrate should work fine. Or you could use VC-1, which, anecdotally, has gotten a real boost with this update as well. I agree that it's still a little bit on the imperfect side - but if they keep hacking away at this aspect of the 360, it ought to be in excellent shape by November or next May.So I guess 1080 rips wont even be playable under .264? I still cant get TVersity to transcode, Back to the Zune software I guess?

My own personal disappointment was that H.264 is still not available in the Windows Media Center interface - it's only available from streaming. This is apparently something that Microsoft needs to update in Windows, but it's annoying nonetheless.
