what the touch screen for? lets see some picsof your rig.

I bet you do. It is pretty sweet playing xbox in life size. Touchscreen LCD is for the server cube box. I also have a wireless logictech keyboard/mouse that goes to the server box.

What part do you wanna see pics of?

I beleive it's to prevent abrasion and/or skid marks to the desk surface.

Correct. Just built the desk in the last couple weeks, so I wanted to keep the top scratch free for a while. Nice thing is that is does double as a mouse pad :D

Whats up with all those boxes under the desk? Is that beautiful case on top not being used?

I think I need some drive enclosures which aren't quite so ugly. And no, I'm not using that subwoofer with those speakers. It's just a footrest.

Future is a nice audio system and WC for the shuttle.

Damn I don't see how people can afford comps that nice. Plus a laptop. I guess its pretty hard only working one day a week for two hours only making about $15-20 an hour.

That's a full-time job + part-time job + wheeling and dealing in car parts too. Along with going to college full time. Needless to say I can't wait until tonight when I can walk down the aisle to graduate and not go back EVAR!!!

I never want to leave college, i don't really see how people could possiably be really excited about graduating. i am having the time of my life here, and if i could I would stay at least a few more years. maybe i will just have to get my masters so i can spend some more time here.

really nice looking setup by the way

by the way, that chair has been redone with that material. I seem to go with this color often. I also enjoy lamp type lighting to create that "at home" feeling.

What'd ya think?

from that pic., it looks like the tv is about to drop

Of course...

Before:

After:

overview.jpg

top.jpg

Details:
1. Convert SN41G2 chassis to take sn85 mobo and SilenX PS
2. Arctic Silver 5 on the heat sink
3. Remove rear grill and c-strip the opening
4. Blowhole with red LED fan
5. Textured paint job for the cover (Rustoleum Hand hammered paint)
6. Paint front panel I/O bracket (in case it showed)
7. Added a hard drive cooler to keep the Raptor running cool
8. Mod SN41G2 front bezel to fit sn85 front port assembly
9. Matching paint job on bezel
10, Custom front faceplate (front panel express) and paint
11. Bulgin LED power on and reset switches
12. Front mount fan to provide a cool air intake

My objectives/requirements for this mod were:
1. Improve the looks over the G4 case (IMHO)
2. Improve cooling over stock
3. Had to still fit in the Shuttle bag, so no external fans

Of course objective 1 is, well, objective (pun intended). I like the new look a lot better but opinions vary.

As far as objective 2 goes, here are the results (70 deg F ambient temp)

At idle: PWM/SYS/CPU == 42/38/37
After gaming for 2 hours: PWM/SYS/CPU == 53/44/44

After adding the fans, my max temps are actually lower than where I started for idle temps. Before the mods, I was seeing 54/48/46 at idle.

@mritche: do you have heat dissapation issues with the receiver in that orientation?

Not really. The receiver puts out very little heat and I leave a tiny bit of space between it and the desk.

i was wondering where did you get the bulgin switches? i want to get one for my PC but they are like 20 bucks a piece.

I got them from here. Look under "DIY" then "Switches". They have a variety of Bulgin switches from around $14 to $20.

Thank you! Yeah...I really do need to get a bigger LCD...I already have one targeted. I'm going to get a 17" no matter what, but no bigger. I don't really want a huge monitor or anything. I'd rather have dual monitor or something.

My setup, Shuttle SN95G5 with dell 2001fp , SGI mod to p4 based system, and a Apple Powerbook 12in superdrive 1.5ghz
