Specs in sig. Would like to run at 1920x1200. What can I get in that price range to run the game. Anything at microcenter so I can pick it up right now? :D
 
I have a 6870 and it run BF3 just fine on high settings. Only thing it doesn't like maxed out is the AA.
 
For that Price Range the 560Ti would be great. Seen them go for $199.99 After Rebate. Above the $200 range I'd say the 6950 and if you're looking to spend a little closer to the $150 range, you can probably find a 6870.
 
I'm gonna vote for a 560Ti since BF3 is the target game. It does much better in BF3 and is an overall more powerful card. If you can find one for $200 AR like I've been seeing here and there lately then go for it. However the 6870 is occasianlly found at $149.99 after MIR which is a amazing price for a card that's pretty close to 560Ti's overall performance.
 
If you care about BF3 and not other games, then a $160AR 6870 performs equally to a $200AR 560Ti.

For $10-$20 more than the 560Ti you can get a 6950 1GB which outperforms the 560Ti slightly on average and significantly in BF3.

I ordered a 6870 just for this game myself. I've been running a 4890 for awhile but this game really strains it.
 
Been using a 560 Ti and the game runs beautifully. Solid 60fps on high settings.
 
I'm highly amazed at how easy this game is to run with the amount of detail that is involved. I have a 570 overclocked quite a bit and I'm able to run everything on ultra and 2xAA for 60+ FPS. I wouldn't doubt the 560 Ti would do an excellent job at high settings. I cannot speak myself for the ATI side of things considering the last card I had was an X1600 XT...:eek:
 
HD6870 for $160. The extra $50 for the 560Ti isn't worth it in Battlefield 3, they perform quite similarly.
 
I had two 6870s and really liked their performance / cost ratio. i got mine for $135 after rebate each. though, id try to get sapphire or a dual fan -- my single fan xfx 6870 was way to loud, but was only the size of a 6850 which means it would fit easily in midtowers.
 
Keep your eyes on hot deals as BF approaches, I just got a gtx 480 at newegg for $199 - $25 MIR + $7 shipping, so ~ $182 AR.
 
As pointed out, a deeply discounted 480 is good provided you can stand the heat/noise issues and your 650 watt power supply is up to the task.

Otherwise, you could always look for a slightly used non-ref 2GB 6950 on H's sale and trade forum

I dont mind a used video card, but buying a used overclocked video card that was used for bitcoin mining would make me really nervous. bitcoin works the hell out of them.

With that said, with value of bitcoins tanking... there is a lot of 2nd 5830's, 5850,5870,5970 at a good price. Ive seen 5830's selling for $90-100 and two of them in crossfire is pretty good for gaming. (sapphire xtreme is my favorites)
 
No need to buy a refurb, just keep your eyes peeled for deals. Again, $182 AR on a gtx 480 might be a bit of a stretch, but $200-220 should become common in the next few months as NV partners try to clear them out. 6950 should start to drop down to 200 or lower as well as we get closer to 79x0 launch.

The shaders can be unlocked on any 6950 as long as your lucky with the gpu.

I agree that it will not be easy but I was able to successfully get it done on that same card.

That card does not have a dual bios switch, I needed to do the bubble gum mod and then flash it with it's own bios modded in RBE to unlock the 6970 shaders. Now BAM my brother has a 1gb 6970 OC. Running all 1536 shaders @ 965/1430.

You don't need reference cards to unlock shaders, Too many people don't realize this.
 
It doens't matter, unlocking the shaders only helps 2-3% anyway. Much better to use a modded 6950 bios instead.

Good deal at $200, though only having 1gb will limit it at higher res or in a potential xfire setup. I'd rather pay $225 for a 2gb version.

I have 4 6950's that won't unlock so curious if your candy trick can fix them also. :D
