Hi, I posted here a while back, but now I am ready to buy the parts:p

1) Gaming, movies, internet
2) $1400, not incl. tax and shipping
3) Canada
4) New build, will need all the parts
5) Might be reusing optical drive and media card reader, not sure yet.

I went with the WD black because it's cheaper than the samsung f3.
I heard good things about the zalman cooler, and it looks relatively easy to install. I'm a first time builder so keep this in my mind. I also like the led.. I don't mind paying a bit more for it, unless there's a better alternative. I'll only be doing mild OCing.

Go for an Antec Truepower New 750W PSU or the Corsair 750TX V2 750W PSU instead of that overpriced Thermaltake.

Dicth that HSF as well. Go for the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ HSF instead.

Video card wise, go for an Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, or XFX branded HD 6950 since all those companies have signicantly better quality customer support and service than Sapphire.

And are you absolutely sure that the Western Digital Black 1TB SATA 6.0GB/s hard drive is cheaper or just as much as the Samsung F3 1TB drive? If it's not the SATA 6.0Gb/s 1TB Black drive, then it's a poor buy compared the F3. If it is the SATA 6.0Gb/s, then yes get it for the F3.

I'm planning to play DA origins, DA2, borderlands, crysis 2, AC Brotherhood, GW2, BF3, most of the latest titles.

I can get the thermaltake for $80AR. Quality wise it's great right? [H] gave it a silver medal recommendation thing so its fine?

Rebates aren't guaranteed discounts. As such, that Thermaltake PSU is still not that good of a buy for the money.

Ok just to lay it out for you: What matters more? The higher chance of an unlock but dealing with a short warranty and relatively low quality customer support or a significantly lower chance of unlock but with a longer warranty and better customer support.

Is it possible to unlock non-reference cards? Do non-ref cards have the 2switch bios?
Warranty is probably more important.
This look good? It has a life time warranty

Look around and you will see newegg.ca does not have the best prices. I may only use newegg.ca to order the crucial ssd because I can't find it anywhere else.
Shopbot.ca is a good site for comparing the best Canadian prices.
I found that directcanada.com beats most of newegg.ca prices
 
With me IMO I feel 10 or 20 dollars more to go with egg is worth it. Even 50 bucks.....which here in the US I am always shocked if and when I see someone beat them...

Sorry man I am loyal to a fault....they have proven themselves beyond a doubt IMO. I mean I would never buy a TV there...but PC components all day!

Yeah I can understand, newegg.com has everything. But newegg.ca is just a downgraded version with less choices and higher prices:(

FWIW this is just my opinion and i could be way off what you want...but that seemed a little high. I could be wrong.
 
I will need two 120mm fans, one for the hyper212+ and one for the haf 932 case. I prefer white/red LEDS.

Any recommendations?
 
I was starting from scratch based on your price and needs and my opinions.... I added to 120mm fans for the case I chose too so just swap cases from my wishlist if you want. I use Antec 300's...no lights...all black...black fans everywhere..the core is board/CPU/mem/GPU/LCD/PS...the rest change to whatever floats yer boat I guess...

Hmm. Basically, many fans are rebadged. Make sure they are ball baring and not sleeve. Also, make sure they are low rpm, as sound still is an issue with any cooling fans. Make absolutely sure the fan locations in the case have enough air flow. If the fan is going to be flush against the case, or installation location, they will perform less and make more noise. So Lots of air holes, close together, and use a case that has space between the fan blades and the intake or exhaust. If possible, use rubber grommets to minimize fan vibration transfer to the case (again less noise.)

Yeah Hullvagood, before you buy anything and if you don't want to post whatever list mathewmatics posts, do your research. For all we know, he could be giving you bad advice and such. At least when we post a build list here on the forums, it's open to all to see and criticisms. As such the build can either be improved or you get to know more about the build itself.
 
I don't post builds...I email them in wishlists for my sake...easy and fast...the person can then post whatever they want on their time obviously........
 
Oops sorry wasn't aware you were set on Intel. No biggie. I like putting the builds together and I play hard on AMD's so tend to sway that way...for me....I build to spec for customers so sometimes Intel sometimes AMD.....
 
I think I will change my case to a fractal design R3. I really like the look of it. Thoughts?
 
The un-namable Canadian store has their 15th anniv sale on right now, pretty good price on some things, plus they price match. For example, the hyper 212+ is on for 19.99. Not to mention free ground shipping if you buy their p67a-gd65 + 2500k bundle.
