I've been waiting since the 29th for my order, 2 more days to go. Stupid Jewish holiday. My laptop is coming back in 2 days as well. hehe. $3,400 worth of equipment in one day. I will be a happy camper.
Will someone think of the equipment? :( In all my reading, contemplating, browsing. I think knowing how I shoot that something like the 28-70 you have would probably be next on my purchase list. But I will see what the numbers tell me first, then put some more money down for glass.
A lot of candid people, it's what I've done most of so far. But The equipment at hand has been limited so far, this will open a lot off oportunity up. Particularly with 18-55 and 55-200mm lenses. So there is a lot that will be opened up to me. This was less of a query as to what I should get...
Bingo, exactly. Like any one I plan to have these lenses for there life, forbaring any major urge to part with one, be it to finance it's replacement. So for my initial purchase I am very pleased with what I have. I've been shooting point and shoot 35mm, and mid-to-high range digital for years...
I'm right there with you. Digital zoom is NOT a feature, no matter what size of font they use. If you want zoom beyond "3x" (or what every they're giving you) it's time to go up a notch.
I say this as I anxiously await my new Digital Rebel with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses..
I picked up a monopod actually, At this point I see my self utilizing it more then a tripod. :)
I've dabbled in several other little hobbies...but with the ammount of funds in computers and now camera's, these are deffinitely declared hobbies. heh. :-\
I also picked up a 58mm UV Filter and...
So, I just invested into my second major hobby. Camera's. First computers, Now Camera's. I figure in a few years when I've recovered finacially I'll find another expensive hobby to add to keep me poor, but well stocked with gadgets.
Just recently I purchased a DR, the kit version with...
I think the folding and other DC projects suggestions are kind of misguided. You would gain nothing from using a cluster for those projects. You might as well skip any sort of clustering OS and major network backbone, and toss them on a hub.
A single unified cluster, Not a cluster of...
This isn't a call for information. It's an installers version of a work log. :) This will be fairly brief as a lot of these details will be semi-useless for many of you, I'm going to keep track more so on the details specific to the 64bit realm. Though I will mark my progression on a rhudementry...
I want one of these as well, unfortunetly though my inquiery into this particular system is for a client of mine. Who's decided on SFF, and since I mentioned it he's waiting somewhat patiently for it as well.
They only go to 80.. hehe
Yeah, 60's loud, 65 is louder, 70-75 Make your cranium bleed internally. But it's all good. I've yet to go to 80 with audio though. :-\
No. Not quite. :-\
The application can generate an audio event on specific requirements. (i.e. high packet loss) But in a machine with no sound card, it's pretty difficult to hear that. So I'm looking for a way to pump the audio out to another machine, thus gaining the benefit of the audio que.
I've recently begun to use Ping plotter to monitor my network to one of my servres. One additional feature of Ping Plutter is an audio alert on a set-able value.
But, the server running the application, has no sound card. And there's little way that a sound card will find it's way into the...
I've been having little luck finding information on the Zmax DP. A SFF Box from iWill based on an nforce 3 chipset for Dual Opterons.
I was hoping someone might have some information about it, namely closer estimation as to when they will be available for purchase. The closest information I...
I'm surprised no one has asked what you do for a living yet.
And to the person who commented on it being 5400$ a year in electricity, do you realize it's nearly 10,000$ in servers and he is considering another two servers in six months? The electricity bill is just a fringe cost for his price...
I just picked up a set of Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 Ultra's from new egg, 355$ and change shipped to my door.
Be ready for a bunch of posts pointing these out. Though perhaps someone out there might suggest creating your own audio setup, since it seems you're willing to spend a bit more.
You're right, I don't want to waste any power. I doubt my machines could handle the stress. :( Do you think a 2800+ barton or dual opteron 240's would be able to support it? ;)
"wasting" cpu power isn't much of a concern for me, I don't know about you. I'm pretty sure I can game and dump an...
Since there was no linkage, I went to find it on my own, and whlie I was at it I figured I would share with you. Though I couldn't find a direct link for the audiotechnica's.
The Grado SR80's, http://www.gradolabs.com/product_pages/sr80.htm
The Grado SR125's...
I would actually like to know somehting for this as well. I currently have 3 machines, and one set of speakers (I <3 My old Klipsch 4.1's)
I've got the two desk based machines hooked up together, the more permanent box has the speakers hooked up, and I just simply use an 1/8" stereo to 1/8"...
I would actually prefer not to have special titles to General Mayhem subscribers/members. We just eliminated post counts. UID's will be shifted into the mainstream to seperate the young from the old as far as registration and usage goes. I don't dig on elitism.
How about a discount to [H]orde...
I was in a wheelchair back then, still am now. I miss the old genmay. But as it's been said it's gone. What I do miss is an off topic section here. Unless you have a hardware bit of information there's no reason to post here really.
I feel all elite and such, I was here for the old genmay...
Yeah, I'm not going to even post any more in this thread. I knew it was pointless. Carry your crosses, enjoy your crusade.
Debate and degrade my opinions and your vision of me all you want, I'm not going to bother.
There it is though. The questioning of my morals based on a computer project. What if I donated blood regularly, What if I donated time at childrens hospitals to read stories to cancer patients?
And what about the goal of a project I've chosen? Are the values and efforts of there goals to be...
