My MSI 785GM board that is supposed to be 140W rated did the same thing when I was running P95 to try to diagnose a random memory error problem. Never got the memory error but the system is completely dead and I tried a new PS to make sure it wasn't that.
Are the 970 boards reliable with OCed...
If you can use used parts, you can build him a really nice system cheap. For instance, I just built my new X6 system and have the Q6600 quad core, MB and 4GB of RAM that are just sitting in a box that I would sell cheap. Not trying to turn this into a FS thread but used is your best option if...
I put some stuff in my cart last night but couldn't decide if I really wanted it. When I checked back today, it still has the 30% BCB banner on the page. But when I go all the way through checkout, I never see the BCB show up anywhere. Kinda scary...
PNY and Galaxy GTX 470 are both 326.00 less...
I'm trying to set up a 5570 to output to a 1080p projector, a 1080p 47 in TV and a desktop monitor. What I need it to do is clone the projector and the TV and use the monitor to control the software. It is fairly easy to get the monitor and projector working properly but I can't get the TV to be...
I can't get the realtek sound drivers to install from the disc, or using realtek's generic driver. It gets right to the end of installing and then hangs and reboots. After that, it goes into a endless reboot cycle until I go into safe mode and uninstall the driver. Device manager show 2 devices...
I had a MSI 785G-E51 that would just shut down as soon as I ran a stress test using all 4 cores on my P II 555. I RMA'ed the board and they sent me back the newer E65 board with the heatpipe cooler on the NB and mosfets. I haven't had time to test it yet, but it looks like it should help a lot-...
I did finally get a replacement board. Pretty cool too since it is the upgraded E65 with the heatpipe cooling on the NB and mosfets. I think that they are having problems with boards dying from Phenom II's and especially X6 processors. All in all, I've had really good luck with MSI boards going...
Q6600 slightly OCed to 2.8, Antec 650 PS, HDTV tuner, 4 HDD's. Since pretty much any mid-range card that is out now is less power hungry than my old 9600 GSO, I don't think the PS will be an issue.
How much faster is the 5770 than the 5750... 10%? Do 5750's generally OC well?
Like the title says, I'm looking for a new card that is about twice as fast as my current 9600 GSO 384MB card. I really don't game much any more so I'm not really going for the high end stuff. Monitor is 1600x1200 and I usually don't use AA at that res.
So is a 5750 in the 2X league? They are...
Yeah, I tried 2 different PS... the 460 I mentioned is a new Cooler Master Elite with 2x12V rated at 18A each. I did test it loaded on 2 cores and it was fine. The shut down problem seems like a MB issue but I can't be certain since the MB won't post after I updated the bios. I sent an RMA...
The board was flaky and unstable to begin with, so I flashed to the latest bios and now it won't post. Any suggestions? I sent an RMA request to MSI a week ago but haven't heard back from them yet... are they usually this slow?

I've got the original game on disc and tried installing it on my win 7 x64 system (Q6600, 9600GSO) and it won't work even with the DX 10 mod. It tries but keeps crashing to the desktop. Any suggestions?
My brother stopped by the frys in Alpharetta, GA and picked up 2 of these yesterday. Now I need to get some more memory before I can build one of these systems... Crazy when the memory will cost more that the MB/cpu.
I will probably wait until there is another good frys deal on a quad core amd cpu/MB combo and use this MB with that quadcore and the (hopefully) 710 or 750 MB with the Sempron. It seems like frys has a couple of these deals every week, so with a little patience I should be able to build 2...
I got one of the Sempron 140/Biostar deals. Supposedly, the Sempron will unlock into a dual core with the right MB- which isn't this Biostar. Which MB's will unlock the AMD cpu's- any of the 780-790 boards?
Update... I tried the original PS in another computer and it works fine, so my conclusion is that the board is dead. Everything looks good- no leaking or bulging caps, no obvious burn marks, etc. Oh well.
Instead of trying to find another 939 board, I think I will just sell off the processor...
Well, I plugged everything up out of the case and there is no difference. I'm guessing the MB is dead. Strange since it was working perfectly and suffered no damage when it was moved.
I did notice that when I plug the PS cord in the back, there is a barely perceptible blink or dimming of the...
I'm about to do this... I put it back in the old case and still had the same problem. The more I think about it and the way the PS acts, the more it seems like there is a grounding problem.
Actually, I can't even get it to indicate that it is getting power. It was running perfect until now... AMD 939 3800 x2 on a Soltek K8Tpro. It was using an Enlight 420W PS and after I moved everything, I don't even get an led lighting up on the board. So I tried an older 300W Enlight PS and got...
For the person who does not want to build their own computer, this is a good deal at Best Buy. 90 day warranty is a little weak, but if it lasts 90 days, you will probably not have any problems with it. Since it is all ASUS components, you might be able to OC it as well. Says it has an extra...
After poking around I found that the V5 is a 3.3v card. Some motherboards had a bios option to set the agp voltage to either 1.5 or 3.3. You might want to check your bios and make sure it is set to 3.3. Also, it was common in those days to have to set the agp aperture. Generally 2 times the...
Holy crap... I was watching this since I have a perfect (but not new) V5 with all the original packaging, manuals, CD, etc. If I can even get 1/2 that I would be ecstatic.

Voodoo5 5500 on ebay is going for 130.00 right now... I also have a V5 and all the original packaging. The price tag on the box is 299.00. I remember buying that card the day it came out. Still a great card for playing old glide games on win98.
I have some K6 II cpu's too! Heck, I have a...
Well, he really needs to try another agp card to make sure that the slot isn't bad. The V5's are the old single notch cards that theoretically won't fit in the newer slot, but I still think that it is worth trying another card.
Have you tried a different AGP card? Maybe your AGP slot isn't working right since your V4 is a pci card. Also, somewhere in that time frame, they changed the voltages for AGP cards and some older AGP cards would not work with the newer higher voltage AGP slots. Check this out-...
There is a new one (supposedly, since you can get any box shrink wrapped) on ebay that is up to 130.00. That seems crazy to me. I guess they are becoming collector's items. I still have the original boxes, manuals, etc for mine as well. PM me if you are really interested. Is the seller going to...
