My build is complete but UPS is holding my 3600 hostage. There are 3200G's for $99.99 at some Best Buy locations. That seems to be the cheapest. If mine didn't have movement finally in UPS tracking I'd be sorely tempted just to get the build moving.
So ended up with a 3600X mainly because there are no 3600's in stock and the ASUS Prime X570 Pro. Everything is ordered so now the waiting game kicks in.
Trying to find a MB and CPU in stock is just a giant PITA at the moment.
Is this board worth getting over a B550? Been reading through the reviews on Newegg but haven't seen anything about OC capability. Anyone have experience with OC'ing on this board?
I will probably OC at some point. I added the Corsair because PC Parts Picker adds up all the wattage and I wanted to make sure I got a big enough power supply.
I already own the 1650 - used it in the wife's Lenovo which has a low wattage PS. The 1650 doesn't require additional power :) This...
Finally started ordering parts, everything but MB and CPU. MB will either be the MSI B550 Tomahawk or Gigabyte Aorus Pro B550. AIO Corsair was included for power measurement and I already have the video card

Last time I built a system was with a Celeron 300a :) Need a new system (to replace the wife's Lenovo) for iRacing. Things are a lot different - even Power Supply choices are insane.
I'm looking at these 2 boards...
tool_462 - exactly like that. So the thin bezel is just marketing bs? Was hoping to use in a triple monitor setup with iRacing which is why I bough the thin bezel. Oh well
MSI tech sent me a RMA form. In the MSI forum someone commented the black band is supposed to be there - why would you have a ultra thin bezel if the monitor didn't go to the edge.
BTW- get the same band when it's plugged into my Mac Mini via HDMI.
Haven't been able to find anything in the monitor menu's - doesn't mean it's not there :) Drivers are all updated but I'll double check the monitor drivers.
Update: monitor driver is just the Generic PnP Monitor. When I try and update the driver to the MSI specific driver I get a message...
Disconnected the 2 flat screen and tried it with just the MSI connected to the DP. Was able to get full screen, GPU scaling and checked the box but it still wouldn't expand to the full width of the screen. Might just been the low power 1650.
I have a 3 monitor setup powered from a GTX1650 (1 MSI Mag272C curved, 2 AOC 2757). However the image on each screen is not using the entire screen so essentially it appears each monitor has a thick bezel.
How do I fix this?
How would this work in a iRacing rig? iRacing really likes the single threaded clock speed, should I just go Intel?
I would be upgrading from the PC I "borrowed" from the wife - Lenovo i5-4460 with a GT720 video card.
Please read the original post. My CD drive isn't working so I cannot load from the CD. I have NO keyboard or functioning mouse in Windows - internal or external (USB or PS2). Therefore I cannot download anything as I cannot sign into windows to connect online to down load.
Yes. But the only thing that shows on the HP splash screen is F10 for Bios. Is there another function key that will force it to boot from USB even if the Bios doesn't have that option.
Screwed up big time today.
Laptop is a HP NC6000 running XPPro SP3. CD drive won't function and I thought it was due to some corrupt registry entries. I accidentally whacked the wrong ones, no I have no keyboard or mouse in Windows (regular or Safe Mode). CD won't get detected on boot up...
Local pickup only. Best offer on everything (yes I'm cleaning my closed)
Full box of Cat5 CommandLinx cable. 500ft
Enermax Whisper power supply. EG-365P-VE
Didn't use Clean Driver pro but everything works fine in Safe and Normal mode as long as I don't load the drivers. During the driver install I get the BSOD. I'm thinking there is something wrong with the card.
But I'll try Clean Driver Pro.
I upgraded my CPU and now I'm getting the BSOD claiming a bad nv4_mini.sys. Everything works fine if I use the onboard VGA but when I load the drivers for my GT8600.
OS is WinXP Pro. Tried the drivers on the CD and the latest from EVGA.com, going to try the latest from nvidia next.
Went to the Round Rock, TX store and bought 2 of these. The model on box is different from what you get in your BIOS. The BIOS model number is ST3320620AS as linked above.
Need to add dual DVI to my audio/video work station. MB is a Gigabyte nVidia 6100/nforce 430 and currently I'm using the on board video.
The box I'm decommissioning has a FX5600 in it.
Been looking at 8600GT and 3850's. Don't really game anymore, band takes up to much time.
New laptop with Vista Home Premium. Everything was working fine all my drives mapped, etc. Norton did a profile update now I cannot connect to my mapped drives nor do the rest of the PC's on the network show up.
I can connect through the router (wireless) and surf the Net just fine. Going...
Found a EZ Swap laying around so I installed it when I put the new SATA drive in, the EZ Swap is PATA.
The fan noise is unbearable. Can I clip the wire to stop the fan or will this lead to disc problems? Any other suggestions on getting rid of the noise (minus removing the EZ Swap).
Never had a problem with CDex ripping my CD's to MP3. However, I tried to rip the Velvet Revolver disc and it generated a ton of errors for ever track after the 3rd. Now I'm trying to rip Hysteria by Def Leppard and it's generating errors as well.
Is this being cause by copy protection?
I've got a WD120 that contains WinXP. Drive is located in my file server however it is not detected during boot, BIOS shows no drives connected.
I can feel the drive spinning on power up but it appears dead.
have switched power and IDE cables - any ideas.
Changed the drive setting...
I've got 4 PC's on a KVM, 2 of which have dual monitor capabilities. Is there a way for both PCs to take advantage of dual monitors without a second KVM just to control the second monitor?
