Drive Spins, No Drive Found

I've got a WD120 that contains WinXP. Drive is located in my file server however it is not detected during boot, BIOS shows no drives connected.

I can feel the drive spinning on power up but it appears dead.

have switched power and IDE cables - any ideas.

Changed the drive setting from Master to Cable Select. Drive is now working - go figure. Is this a indication of something larger happening. Probably replace drive just to be safe.
