I think it's a great overall P&S. The zoom range is really helpful, but sometimes it does not seem like it's wide enough. Sometimes it can be a little slow between pictures on continuous drive, but most consumer digicams are like that.

I did nothing to the installed fonts. It's WinXP w/SP2.

I've had the Magicstor. It died the first week I had it. I RMA'd it and waited 3 weeks for it to come to me from Hong Kong. That one had the same problems with corrupting data and overheating as the first one. They aren't worth it.

You could transfer it from tape to the computer with a video capture card. Just plug the Video out or S-Video to the card along with the audio. Then convert it to MPEG-2 and burn it to dvd with your favorite burning program.

I had the same thing happen to my A60, but I never found an answer and Canon never replied to my tech support request.

I use Exifer to rename all my pictures by date (yyyy-mm-dd - hh-mm-ss) and then upload to folders named by category (friends, scenery, random stuff, etc)
