Unfortunately I can't, only other PCs in the house are macs. Also is the media creation tool different than the emergency recovery tool? I used that before trying to do a clean install and how I got into all this mess.
Shoganai, this is great, thank you! I created an emergency recovery disk and chose the option to include system files so that I could do a clean install. I would rather do the procedure you mention but I assume I would need a windows 10 bootable DVD? What would be the process for keeping my...
It's been a great device so far. I draw a lot and being able to detatch the screen was a huge win for me. I was sad to see they got rid of that in the Surface Book 2.
I created a USB recovery drive and then rebooted to do a clean install. During the "resetting this PC" it said that it failed and rolled back and nothing was changed. Now if I unplug the drive and reboot it tries to go directly into the BIOS and asks for a password that I'm pretty sure I never...
I have a Microsoft Surface Book that has to be about 5 years old at this point. It has been acting very sluggish lately so I decided that I would start fresh and do a wipe recovery. Well, lo and behold the recovery said it "failed and nothing was changed". That isn't the case because now the C...
Doh, didn't even think of that, guess if the monitors are cheap enough I might just go with 3 then.
Also, would need them to have integrated speakers for the HDMI/Cable.
What are your recommendations with these requirements? I'd prefer a thin bezel if possible as I think I will be getting 2 of these and maybe some multi-monitor gaming.
I always read about 3 monitor setups but I assume 2 works just as well?
I'd also like it to have an HDMI input so that I...
I know, I know, wireless is evil, but for my next build it is a necessity.
Are there any good backlit, bluetooth, mechanical, keyboards that are good for gaming (besides the input lag)?
I see some websites refer to the Cyborg v.7 and the Logitech G510 as wireless but then other sites say...

Fanboys, they have investment bias, and believe that the money they spent on SB is the holy grail of computing and that nothing else can possibly compare. While this may be true it does serve to undermine honest competition which benefits us all.
+1 internets to you fine sir
Well this really sucks for me. Currently I have netflix setup on the wii in the living room which is 99% of the time used by the kids, and I also have it on my PS3 in the mancave which me and the wife use.
So far we've never tried to use both at once, but for this upcoming Christmas I...
I dumped Firefox long ago. I prefer Chrome's interface and minimalistic approach. This is how Firefox started compared to IE and it has grown into almost the same monster it once set out to slay.
I really only use adblock and flashblock so I'm not hurting on extension support.
I refuse to...
I think I may be going in the direction of an SFF setup now that I believe my system will pull double duty as an HTPC and a gaming machine.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
HTPC, Video Encoding, Winamp/Milkdrop, 1080p, gaming, browsing, etc..
2)...
I'm looking on Amazon and the Pro is only $5 cheaper and still says it comes with Dual LAN.
I was a bit confused as to what model to get for sure, I think its Amazon's lack of details causing the confusion though.
I forgot to include that I would most likely pickup some cheap Lite-ON BR drive...
It's been at least 5 years since I've built my own rig and I think the time is nigh to get back into what I love. This years tax return is going to be for building a mid to high end gaming HTPC.
Here is what I currently have on the wishlist, are there any known incompatibilities with this...
This has been driving me up a wall for a few years now, no matter the 2 different houses I've lived in and just about any router I've had. I've had signal issues, this is with multiple network adapters, laptops, cell phones etc...
Currently I just moved into a 2650sqft house and have my router...
I can see how this would happen. I work with a gay guy who added me to his netflix friends. I could DEFINITELY tell his sexual orientation by the movies he rented, no they weren't x-rated (netflix doesn't have that), but when every movie is a same sex love story you'd have to be blind not to...
I use the 360 for gaming and the PS3 for Bluray/DVD. I have no intention of switching to PS3 for games except for exclusives of course. Just have too much invested into LIVE, arcade games, rock band DLC, friends lists, achievements etc...
My first PC was a 386 DX40 with 4mb ram, I'm not even sure what video card it had. I was 10 and it was the first PC I cut my teeth on.
Now the first PC I picked out myself that my parents bought was a P133 16mb ram, I can't remember which video card it had either, but I do remember upgrading...
What would be the best motherboard (price around $300) would be best for a Q9300 chip? I need to have SLI and onboard RAID if possible.
A friend of mine is giving me alot of extra parts, all I need is a motherboard/case/psu. I currently have a Q9300, 9800 GX2, hard drives, DVD, heatsink...
I just got a Gateway GM5632e and tried to install a 8800gt in it. Now the PC turns on, the fans start up for about 5 seconds and then it turns off. No beeps, the only thing I can get the PC to do is make a beeping noise if the power isn't plugged into the 8800gt, or the fans will not even start...
Sounds good to me unless there are a bunch of popups/banners/advertising. Plus its easier access for people that may not have PCs and actually use the PS3 browser.
If you right click the executable that is causing this problem and select the "always run as administrator" option under the compatibility tab, you should get rid of the annoyance.
This is good for programs you use frequently and know that no one using the computer will mind if it starts...
Lol@1998.
I remember playing Duke Nukem over the internet using KALI back in 1996 or so, and Quake 1, which had me ADDICTED for years. Of course using Mosaic to browse the web before that so around 94-95. Heck, I even got Comcast cable in 1998 when they were beta testing my city. I loved...
Don't really want to get an HDMI card in HOPES that it solves the problem, since I just got the X1950pro in there.
It's extremely annoying, I do have a VGA port but at the moment my 360 is using it (until I can get an elite), but yeah part of the reason I wanted to do this was the perfect...
Any idea why using a DVI to HDMI cable from my PC to my Samsung HLS-6187W, if I switch inputs and go back to the HDMI I get no video until I disconnect and reconnect the cable to the tv?
If I turn the TV off and turn it back on the PC will not send out a video signal until the PC is rebooted...
From looking at reviews and documentation I am supposed to have the option of Dolby Digital Live and many other options but when I open the Intel Audio Studio software the only options I get are "Inactive" and "PCM Stereo". Is this a chipset problem or is there some software update I can...
I just received this PC for christmas and was just wondering if there is anyway possible to overclock it? I can't find any advanced options in the motherboard, I didn't expect too being a crappy gateway proprietary POS, but Im just itching to find some way even if its a volt-mod since it has a...
Hitachi's make some of the best HDTV monitors since they can do 1920x1080 and a great 540p mode for web browsing. I have the 57F500, just hook up the DVI and download powerstrip and you'll love it.
