The thing that breaks, at least in my experience, is the 6-pin DIN plug. Mine broke off, actually broke off while still attached, was a pain in the ass to get off but I eventually got it out. When this happens, you have 2 options. 1) Get a new DIN plug (its the same plug used on keyboards, so...
I bought this game at the end of November when it was on sale. I played around with the training, just to make sure I don't completely suck. Well, I completely suck, but it was fun. I played for about and hour and now I can't play.
So this is what everyone is complaining about.
Among others, here's my gripe with UPlay.
Both UPlay and Steam are simply launched and running in the background. Steam at 39k of memory, UPlay at 210k. Not that it's meaningfully high, but it's, IMO, a bad Steam knock-off.
I wish FarCry ran through Steam and I didn't have to launch UPlay to...
Is this the Angry Birds game that I got free from Starbucks on my iPhone? Is there anything more dramatic about it? More levels might be cool, but unless it has 15^nth levels, I cannot understand this.
I just built the computer in my signature with a bunch of "pre-Black Friday" deals (mainly Amazon and Newegg).
On or about last Friday i got Far Cry 3, Bioshock Inifinite, L4D2, and Battlefield 4. I had just gotten a humble bundle which inludes all the FEAR games, some Mortal Kombat, Lord of...
I have never bothered with a "repair install" on my computer, I have done countless reinstalls of windows (after making sure the drive is blank).
What, if anything, will be lost in doing a Repair Install? I have seen the option for it before when reinstalling Windows but I have never tried it...
Bump for the Monday lunchtime crew. I have no idea what happened to his box, but I am not even sure how to go about repairing windows on his computer.
Any and all help is welcome.
My uncle did something to his computer. Has no idea what he did and is pretty much completely computer illiterate.
The problem is that when he loads a photo disk into his computer. When windows pops up that list of "What do you want to do with this" there are no choices. Every other type of...
That is not entirely true. Dell will give me a Windows Restore disk, and a Dell Drivers & Utilities disk. You put Windows on then selectively choose what you want off the Dell disk (if anything).
Don't come into this subforum much but now that I got my father a notebook (Dell E1505) I believe I will be fixing many things.
Anyway, this computer uses the built-in wireless card, so the network card for a hardline will go unused. There will be a day when it actually is used but that is...
Now on hold with Dell tech support, fancy fucking hold music they got there.
Anyway, after realizing that there is now probably tons of stuff left over in the registry I say to myself "Why don't I just burn the Windows Restore CD off the OS?"
Well I go into Dell Accessories and the option...
No adverse effects, but I am pretty much done with the uninstall.

Well that icon isn't even showing (I hit the hide button to get a more accurate count). After 2 restarts I am down to 10 icons.
Is it safe to remove the "Modem Helper" (phone modem) seeing that this will NEVER use the modem? I am sure Windows has something built in that would work anyway if...
I know and after 13 programs (so far) I am regretting not doing so.
Here is the running list as I figure out how to get McAfee off (going to run AVG or NOD 32)

I just started a thread on this same subject. I should probably do this but instead I am just uninstalling everything. I have so far uninstalled 13 programs.
Now the uninstall begins. Someone get a timer out, I first powered up 10 minutes ago.
Specs on the laptop since I have time while I do Windows Updates.
Dell Inspiron E1505
Intel Core Duo 1.6
60GB HDD
DVD/CD RW (Dual layer)
512MB RAM (on one stick)

Nope, but thanks!
I did, somehow, have about 15 websites on the "Block images from.." list.
Only one of those can I remember and it was only because they loaded slow as hell.
I think is is because of how the "Block images from" is near Save Image, Properties and Set as Desktop Backgound...
In the past few days (don't remember it happening on Friday) I have notived many pictures are not loading.
I have an example but it is not 56K friendly because there are almost 100 pictures.
LINK HERE
None of the pictures load for me. The standard NASIOC forum layout loads fine though...
Dude you joined a month ago, just rejoin. It isn't like you have established yourself here.
But if you do make a new name, tell Major so he can delete your old account as to not be wasteful.
I thought my computer broke.
This is going to take some getting used to but it seems really bare bones. Just like the [H] website is (comparitively speaking) and why I like it.
Are changes like this (the one done within the least 10 mins) usually that quick? I mean I did not notice any...
Yeah, I never noticed it but it is only in GenMay.
Any maybe it's because I never noticed it before but is it a newish feature? I mean, has it only been turned on within the last 6 months?
I have noticed that occasionally there are threads that have 4 or 5 stars (actually I have never seen a 1, 2, or 3 star thread).
I understand we can vote for a thread, but how many votes are needed for it to be "rated"
It seems that if I vote nothing matters, then I come back a week later and...
Don't know if it was the connection or like I said the switch but I swapped out the power and reset terminals and were working fine now.
Thanks.
EDIT: Mods this is a done deal now but someone might have another comment. You can close it/delete it now if you want or I will try and remember...
I disconnected it from everything but the big 12v spot, and nothing. I am not positive the power button works on the case. For some reason it feels different then it did yersterday, but it might just be in my head.
I am still testing, but any ideas are welcome.
Well I am pretty sure it is the PSU. It started a few days ago, restarted the Comp and when Windows came back the screen had a bunch of artifacts. I restarted believing it was my Video Card overheating and it was fine again.
Yesterday I went out and when I came home it was off. I hit the power...
210/600, but I guessed on 80% of those questions and got maybe 10% of my guess right. I was a poor kid. I had Nintendo, Super Mario Brother/Duck Hunt, Super Mario 3, Contra, Athena, and maybe 4 other games over the next 5-8 years.
Taking advantage of 64bit... hmmm. There are not too many 64bit apps out there, atleast not on my computer.
FarCry 64 didn't do much for me (I run Windows 64bit), O&O Defrag seems a bit quicker, and by seems I mean about 5 minutes quicker over 60gigs.
But the one program that runs hella fast...
I own drives by both companies.
A 160GB Seagate SATA in my Computer
A 200GB Maxtor PATA in my XBOX
I think the Xbox is quiter, but that might be from the case, although when I transfer large files from my computer to my xbox (thier 10 feet away from each other) I will be sitting closer to the...
Chris, I hate to keep bringing this up but I have to admit I am probably wrong. Your Dell might not have come with the Backup OS program but Dells that were shipped up to July 15th 2005 did come with it.
Here is a link from Dells website that better explains how it is possible and how it...
Well then! Congrats to that, but I still say you can burn a disk! (<--childish yelling)
NINJA EDIT: Notice the bottom line (spotted on Slashdot) maybe he will bookmark HardOCP and we will see "spotted at the [H]" in the future.
I don't know if you still have the computer, or if it would impact your review, but I swear it's there. If you could bring it back to original configuration (how Dell sent it to you) its in the start menu. I think its in the Microsoft or Dell tab, just a little program that will start whatever...
Sorry if this was touched on already...
But you didn't have to buy the Windows CD. Dell computers comes with some sort of program that allows you to burn one image of the Windows CD. They sell the disk as a $10 "upgrade" on their website (last time I checked). Why you paid $11 I don't know...
Sorry Bill for my terrible first post.
Here is the deal. The camera is for my girlfriend. I would want want a dSLR but can only afford a Point and Shoot. But, as she puts it, its not for me.
This is a girl who drives a Neon and if she had a computer it would be a Dell. She is the "Does it...
