I know how to work with Cisco switches but I need to program a Dell switch with a few VLANs and some trunk ports. If anyone is good at programming Dell switches please PM me with your contact details. I'm willing to pay to have this programmed.
Thanks.
One of my clients has a WinXP Pro x32 machine based on the nForce2 chipset (asus board) and using the onboard nvidia networking (without the crappy nvidia firewall).
The network card can get an IP (192.168.1.3) from my fios router.
I can ping localhost
I cannot ping the router

I am looking at setting up some eOpl in an apartment. What model do you guys recommend? Or what are your experiences with various models?
I'm kinda new to the EoPL thing
No raid, just some extra sata ports for my WHS.

I have a computer consulting side business and I run into wireless issues on a regular basis at various customer sites (normally homes).
If someone just wants to hook their home up with wireless I'll install a typical Linksys N router. They never give me any problems.
If someone already...
We have a catalyst 3650 that is essentially the hub of our entire company (~20 servers, voip shoretel phone system, 70 clients, slave switches, etc etc). Right now I simply have nagios set to ping the switch to check it's host-alive status. Should I set up some SNMP stuff or anything to check...
I have a few of these problems but they all follow this basic format:
the machine can be pinged from the internet
the machine cannot be pinged from the nagios box
The nagios box needs to determine if the machine is responding
How can I do this? Is there some nagios service I can set...
I'm thinking of running Untangle as a rerouter on my WHS machine.
The WHS machine is pretty beefy... AMD X2 2.6Ghz, 2GB memory, fast hard drives, etc... Dual AMD NICs.
I realize Untangle prefers intel NICs, so I'll get a Pro1000GT in there to make untangle happy.
Now the question...
I am trying to get the following nagios command to work. I'm running this in the command line for testing purposes before I wrap it into a service check. Note: I took this example out of 'Building a Monitoring Infrastructure with NAGIOS' by David Josephsen
This is a new (used once) 8 port RAID controller with the optional battery backup unit and battery.
I decided to go with the Windows Home Server built in storage, so I don't have a need for this VERY NICE card. I don't have all the packaging anymore, but I have the important parts (2 x...
I have a supermicro server that current is populated by 2 x 512MB CL3 Registered PC133 DRAM. I would like more RAM for this server. Does anyone have any RAM they would like to sell.

We just tightened down the hatches on our firewalls and now I want a full security scan against my network across all of our IPs
Anyone know of a good website to do this for me? Or how I should do this?
Right now our in-house program uses SA logins for our client app. Way way insecure...I know.
Our DBA wants me to set the SQL rights in group policy for the domain so that individual users can have more or less rights.
How do I do that? Where in the GP tree?
We have Exchange 2007 entprise here at work.
I need to start doing historical email journaling.
Our Exchange server doesn't have the disk space to put all the journaling on it. Can I save the journals to a UNC path or something? Our SAN is pretty filled up. I do have a server with A LOT...

Well, I've been tossing around the idea of how to get a lot more storage onto our backup server.
I already have a pretty modern server.
I could get something like a 2U SAS direct attached storage and a new RAID controller to handle it.
* Controller (3ware) ~$800
* Cabinet ~$1700...
I have a 1U server that has 4 x 3.5" bays. According to 3ware, I can fill those bays with at most 1TB drives (according to their official supported list).
I need more storage. So I want something like a 1U or 2U external enclosure that can hold more storage.
How can I get more storage to...

I hated Continuous protection server on BE 12. They apparently improved it in 12.5. I don't know if it's worth my time to set up a test bed.

I have a web server that is firewalled inside the DMZ. I know I should take it off the domain and completely lock it in, but it needs to authenticate some security groups to the domain controller.

I have a few services running on a Win2k3 box that I would like nagios to monitor. I have the NSClient+ installed on the server, but can't figure out how to monitor a service. Some help please?
I'd say 90% of the client machines at my company are vPro enabled. I would like to monitor for power supply voltages, fan failures, etc etc.
What is a good software to do this?
Any chance I could integrate this into Nagios?
What have ~20 windows servers, a couple VMware servers, ~10 switches/routers, and some small stuff
They each put out syslogs. I'd like a central interface to monitor them and preferably, throw me an email or something and flag the interface when something bad happens.
What software would...
Ok, so I have running via the install on 'Network Security Tools'
I have it running with the 'minimal ping configuration' with just one host, and it's working fine.
However, I want to monitor a windows box, so I'm following the tutorial here...
I clicked an ad for some software called Paglo (http://paglo.com) , looks neat. Kinda nagios/ solarwinds like, but ... a bit different.
What do you guys know of it?
I have a macbook that had water spilled on it. I have to return it in order to have it replaced under insurance. I would like to recover the data first.
I'm a windows user, how do I pull the data off the drive? Am I going to run into security problems? Run into file system problems? If I...
Someone on our network is eating the bandwidth and killing it for everyone else.
The network is segmented into different subnets, all of the users in question are on the 192.168.4.0 network. All of these users go into a Cisco 3650 switch on their own VLAN. Is there a way I can figure out...

I'm using PostgreSQL as a backend and writing the front end in C#. Right now I'm using the NPSQL driver as I read it is alot faster than the ODBC driver. However, the NPSQL driver doesn't integrate well with Visual Studio. So I'm wondering if slower development is worth the increase in speed...
