We have a catalyst 3650 that is essentially the hub of our entire company (~20 servers, voip shoretel phone system, 70 clients, slave switches, etc etc). Right now I simply have nagios set to ping the switch to check it's host-alive status. Should I set up some SNMP stuff or anything to check other health statistics on it? Or anything?
I'm about 1 month into reading and configuring a brand new nagios install on a somewhat complex network. So I'm learning alot, but realize just how much more there is out there.
